    • @elephantshrew6304

@@CodingPhase Hi, thanks for the kind response.
I’m front-end have been learning react for the last three weeks and cramming my portfolio with tons of react projects. Due to this, I also had to learn what node and command line was and how to use those to commit my repos to github pages.
Alongside that, I also decided to relearn and deep-dive JavaScript to understand functions and syntax more thoroughly since my college barely scratched the surface on anything code related and told us to figure out the rest. 😤 “CZcams University” and Udemy taught me more than my college did.
At least I have a bachelor’s degree in a related field which is usually a requirement for these jobs, but as of now, I only have my portfolio and projects because I can’t even do leetcode “easy” questions. There is a gap in my JavaScript knowledge to solve them even if I understand what it’s asking me.
Around February, I was contacted back from a company for a timed technical screener that just had you submit your answers within a time limit. It showed me I could preview a sample question and I opened that link and I was absolutely shocked and angry. I had NO IDEA what the question was even asking me to do! I had never seen leetcode type questions and just closed the self-screen.
A lady followed-up with me reminding me I could take the test at any time and I kind of went off on her saying this was a totally different skill set that had nothing to do with the kind of work I would be doing and to instead view my work to see if I was someone they wanted.
She never responded, but instead canceled the screener and didn’t bother telling me anything.
I understand why these are used for cs majors, but I went into front-end for visual coding, not data structures and algorithms. I hate that this method has seeped down from big companies as well.
The only people who contact me are either trying to get me to do 3 jobs in one or are complete scams.
I just had an hr person reach out for a bigger company for my interview time availability, which I gave same-day, and now it’s been 2 weeks since their first contact. I restated my interest last week after 1 week of not hearing back, and now I think I have been officially ghosted.👻 Professionalism, who?
It’s month 5, and I’m thinking it’s going to be close to a year out from graduation by the time I get good enough at leetcode to solve the problems on my own and get a job.
Inflation is going up, companies are gutting their work force, I have debt, and my college didn’t prepare me for the reality of what I would face.
I know I just need to keep going and eventually it will work out, but ugh. 😭
Thanks for being someone I could talk to about this. So many people in my life have no idea what the state of the job market is like, what the interview process is like, and the unbelievable competition. 😭

Done learning them. Currently starting with my projects on them incorporating firebase as backend. Intend to start applying when done with the projects, three of them. And also start networking out herewith potential clients aggressively like a motherf*cker, adopting that fifty cent get rich or die trying mentality to it all pending when my application would be considered. Was thinking of picking up learning NodeJS too by November, but I guess I will have to change my mind and go with c#. Bro! What's your opinion on php? Can one use it smoothly without adding a framework of it(vanilla php) on the backend? Also how indemand is Java for the backend?

PHP it's great I didn't mention it because I do it all the time in all my videos but yeah it's also a great option. codingphase: 2 years ago "learn react bro, your not going to get by with angular"
codingphase now: "Learn angular and php"
Everything is just "programming" in current year not coding. Learn a framework and keep it pushing.

That’s the beauty of this channel we change according to the demand of the industry not what gets views…lol you supposed to get the latest info. 3 years ago there was a huge demand for react developers and then those that learned it at the time found jobs easily. Now in todays economy it’s a different story. Going back to legacy code or frameworks no one wants to learn gives you the best chances to get hired as a self taught developer. If you want the same advice continue watching those channels you been watching lol 😂
