    First day on the job, my boss "Aric, I brought this MUI (material UI) template from theme forest, I want you to convert our application to this template..." I was like I got you... while doing the bird man hand rub inside my head...

      Yes this is the piece of info that most new developers don’t have and they think they have to build everything from scratch that’s why it takes them so long to get a portfolio up and running

    On point. I work as a freelance reactjs developer . Unless there's a designer on board, I always recommend starting with a UI theme. Preferably one that's built with a reputable library like MUI. This lets you focus on building the app and move faster. Of course themes have their short comings but then you can easily fix those most of the time

    For so long I've suffered from this train of thought and I ended up wasting time on unfinished projects because I was overwhelmed or burnt out. Right now got back to front-end because I finally left my IT technician job and I'm done with my portfolio site and getting ready to apply for that junior front end dev job 5 years later after graduating.

    Hey . Once again thnx for your videos. Id like to pass to you my experience. Iv been coding for the last 5 months and I learned Typescript / React - Redux / Nodejs Express . MERN stack in other words. I made a full stack app and an other with no backend which I applied everything correctly and were working perfectly. But As far I see it the design was crap on both sides and I only landed 2 interviews in 2 months(which I failed). Am I thinking right? Now that I saw your video its like you confirm my thoughts that yes we are applying to code but STILL the design will catch the eye because ofcourse a recruiter cant dive into github for every application.

    in all honesty I don't think there are that many companies that do front-end or back-end, based on my job searches almost all jobs want full-stack devs, at the prices that they used to pay for one of those 5 - 15 years ago.

    • @CodingPhase
      @CodingPhase  Před rokem

      There’s definitely a huge amount of companies looking to get a deal from developers and want them to be able to do fullstack for $100k+. But that’s because of the economy.

      @BetYouHateMeNow Před rokem +1

    • @CodingPhase
      @CodingPhase  Před rokem +1

      It's a good skill to have but you don't need to be a master with photoshop just know how to use the program to export the assets you need to build your app

  • @natemueller5985
    @natemueller5985 Před rokem

    I’m a front end developer and considering working on this project. Are you suggesting we use their html/css from the template? Or just use the digital assets(pics, graphics) and layout ideas seeing if we can figure out the html/css on our own in additional to the react/JS that makes it functional?

    • @CodingPhase
      @CodingPhase  Před rokem +9

      If you built a project from scratch and you know you can build this from this design for example the html n css part. Don’t build the html and css part and get a template and focus on the logic all the JavaScript components. That way you will speed up the process to your projects. Now if you see a design and you be like “how the hell im going to build this” then yeah you need to build that from scratch so you can learn but once you proven that to yourself there’s no reason for you to keep proving to other that you can build it from scratch

    • @natemueller5985
      @natemueller5985 Před rokem +1

      @@CodingPhase thanks for the insight! That makes perfect sense. This template has 45 pages of designs. How many pages would you like to see in a project like this all wired up into one cohesive project for the portfolio? Thanks again for showing us all the path to LOTI. Livin' off the internet :)

    I have one question now i don't have to Design but the design it self is a picture or a live preview
    What if iam not able to properly clone it with css like one thing that kills me while cloning something is i don't know who to set the height, weight, padding and font weight properly untill i tryed so many times
