    Bro. I needed this. It's so refreshing hearing a dev just tell it how it is, man. Right now I'm dealing with a client that has some peculiar demands and the thing that makes the most sense to me is to build both a Wordpress AND Shopify site. Wordpress because they want CMS abilities (restaurant/brewery/venue) and Shopify because they want to be able ship their beer as well as sell tickets to shows. They're also set up to have multiple locations and they'll need to change menu items for their restaurant and bar on the fly. Anyways, this video helped a lot. I did NOT realize Hydrogen was a thing and as a React developer this was like a lightning strike.

    Honest question, what is the difference between learning Shopify theme and web app development versus being a full stack developer? On the surface it seems like the learning process is no different. The only difference being that you can freelance.

      It’s the same just with a focus on certain skills for example Shopify theme development is front end but you need to know how Shopify works to build themes.

    Wish I would’ve found this channel before I enrolled in a full stack course..finally somebody who look like me, even tho I’m black and I’m assumin he Dominican prolly..whenever you look up coding it’s a video wit a white boy or an asain which ain’t nothing wrong with that, but representation matters, and seeing a dude who talks like me and is presumably from where I’m from(I’m from Jersey he’s definitely from Jersey or ny) is exactly what I was lookin for 🙏🏾🙏🏾

      Hydrogen is the answer you can use Shopify as headless cms and then use hydrogen as your front end for users to see your site.

    • @CodingPhase
      @CodingPhase  Před rokem +1

      Gots to do your googles my guy lol new companies are choosing Shopify and wix. There’s definitely way more Wordpress sites but that’s legacy sites. There’s no reason for someone in 2023 to choose Wordpress when it’s not secure and the quality of apps are nowhere near as polish as Shopify and wix. But what do I know I’m just a random dude with a hat 🧢 on lol thanks for watching

    • @nerdsinthetrap7748
      @nerdsinthetrap7748 Před rokem +3

      @@CodingPhase Naw you know your sh*t bro lol but I think it all depends on what lane your in. I work with a lot of nonprofits and news organizations where everybody is on WP and it makes the most sense. It's still way ahead for content management systems and the flexibility you have.
      As far as security WP can be just as secure as anything if you're doing it right. I do a lot of NextJS / Headless WP but there's also SSG hosting services like Strattic which gives you all the security of a static site using WP. So there are solutions. I guess I'm just not a fan of vendor lock-in either and prefer open-source but agree to disagree. Keep up the great work tho 👌🏽

      @@CodingPhasereally bro you’re funny if you’re actually making money you DONT want to use Shopify they take 2.7% roughly of your sales for someone making little money that’s nothing but when you’re making 500k a month forget it. With Shopify you’d be giving away $140,000 a year! You can literally pay to have something custom built. And have a much lower cc fee %. Also, the reason those big companies will use Shopify is endorsement deals and they’ll negotiate a lower percentage for real huge business….. Shopify is great but when you’re making real money the exact opposite of what you said is true. By the way idc how much money you got $50 is $50 why throw it away…..what you said is idiotic.
