True HQ Certified Ultra High Speed HDMI 2.1 Cable Review

  • We review the True HQ certified Ultra High Speed HDMI 2.1 cables (2m & 3m lengths) using the HDMI Certification app to verify their authenticity, as well as a Denon X2700H receiver and an LG C9 (with 48Gbps SoC) to test their HDMI 2.1 bandwidth.
    Update 26 April 2021: True HQ has sent word that the reason the cables are different is because they are different models. There's a gold-braided version, while the certified grey cable is only available in 2-metre length.
    Gold-braided version (3m) on Amazon*: geni.us/TrueHQBraided
    Grey version (2m) on Amazon*: geni.us/TrueHQ

    Thanks for testing...great idea to pick up this topic.
    Apart from what you investigated I am convinced 2 mtrs. is no problem with most decent cables ... also 3 mtrs. will probably work with most of these.
    Where it starts getting tricky is beyond 3mtrs. ... I recommend being very critical and cautious when buying a 5 mtr. cable or even longer ... make sure you can return it prior to getting one.

    What kind of a lag will you get, or will you, with a 30ft hdmi 2.1 cable? Amazon now shows a cable by CableCreation that they say will support it and sell all different sizes and say they are sold with the hologram but I'm just assuming those lengths have lag? This is for those with wall mounted tvs and cables routing through the wall. :)

    Zeskit, Maxonar, Club3D, and Belkin are sellers that you could find on Amazon or a different storefront in Europe. I don't know why Euros always want to pretend that electronics or something else is more difficult to acquire for them. Most of these electronics sellers are international. Interesting enough, TrueHQ cables aren't being sold in America - along with a number of other Euro made products.

    My old HDMI cable and my new supposedly 2.1 cable both run 4k 120hz fine. Not sure if my old cable is too good or my new cable is bad which is why I can't tell the difference.

    • @OMGtheykilledKenny42
      @OMGtheykilledKenny42 Před 11 měsíci

      Cables are passive, there is no "HDMI 2.1" cable. But if it says "Ultra High Speed HDMI cable" it should support at least 40gbps.
      But if it's actually certified, it should be tested to work at the full bandwidth.
      HDMI 2.1 specs features and bandwidth are determined by the source and receiving chipsets, not the cable itself. But the cable should be within a reasonable length for a given wire gauge for the signal to pass.

    • @OMGtheykilledKenny42
      @OMGtheykilledKenny42 Před 11 měsíci

      There are Active HDMI cables which are one-directional, great for longer lengths or wherever the signal needs a boost. But usually more expensive.

    I just got a couple of "certified" hdmi 2.1 cables for a friend who just got an LG B3 OLED, and who also has an eARC compliant receiver. Shockingly, the audio return channel didn't work at all on one of the cables.
    The certification sticker looked completely real, and I looked it up using the special hdmi forum app to verify that the certification was real. Maybe we just got unlucky, but when only one of the features doesn't work, you're not likely to even notice it until much later, and with the audio return channel ("ARC"), you might think that that you're not using the right settings or something. I was very disappointed. There's a good chance that it's related to poor design or poor manufacturing quality. The brand was "Faroume", and they were 2 metre cables.

      No, it's a digital signal. Either it works or it doesn't.

      You will see some improvements. But it won't be world changing.

      A cable works or it doesn’t. It won’t change picture and audio quality. Talking about digital signals off course.

      @@tienstar7873 Yeah, the only time you "Might" see a slight change is in the event where you running a connection over 25 foot long. Since the more "Pricey" cable might have better shilding and hybrid glass fibers. Which will allow it better transfers consentacy and interference protections over a cheaper brand. But really I can't see anyone connectiong a PS5 to their TV with such a long Cable.
      The only thing I can think of is if the Person is connecting their PS5 to a Mega Sized Home-theater setup or an Actual IMax theater. Lol

    need your help as you really understand this... I have a 3090 gaming card and a LG C1 tv and a ps 5 all using Zeskit Maya 8K 48Gbps Certified Ultra High Speed HDMI Cable.. My question is about Chroma Sub Sampling.. I want to make sure I'm getting the best quality setting graphically possible.. ok HERE'S WHAT THE TV SHOWS:
    "PS5 SHOWS 3840 X 2160P @ 60 RGB 12B 4L8 " WHEN USING MY PC & CHANGING HDMI PORT TO PC ON LG : EVERYTHING TOP QUALITY I'M SEEING THIS
    " 3840 X 2160P @120 RGB 8B4L10" .. Are these the max settings i can get? What about 12 bit ? Any help as no one can really help me.. thanks so Much !!

    I got a "ruipro" hdmi 2.1 cable 15 meters to connect my rtx 3080 with my lg bx tv and it works perfekt (4k, 120hz, hdr, vrr, 4:4:4). But some games are still stuttering. As example: vrr works only when "cyberpunk" is running in native screen Resolution ( 3840x2160).
    Or "gears five" is only running in vrr when the ingame Resolution is the same as the Resolution in the nvidia control Center. In some games, vrr isnt working at all (metro exodus, death stranding, final fantasy 15) no Matter wich Resolution. All games are running smooth when i disable hdr and put 4:4:4 to 4:2:0. Maybe its just because i have a bx instead of cx. Do someone have the same Problems?

      There are none... Really, any half quality cable can stream 48gbps, as the hdmi iterations are for the controllers, not the cable...
      As hdmi is a digital signal, signal degragation because of coroded cables doesn't alter the image quality
