- Unboxing the Motorola Moto G Pro, also known as the Stylus, which is like a G8 Plus with a pen sneakily hidden inside that polycarbonate chassis. Here's a tour of the camera tech, stylus pen features, specs and other bits of the Moto G Pro, which will hit the UK soon for £290. Is this one of the best budget-friendly smartphones of 2020?
This is one of the more interesting Motorola smartphones of recent times, thanks to that Note style accessory. You've got some simple supportive features including a basic notes app, so you can sketch, scribble or whatever. But there's no pressure sensitivity or Bluetooth features, like with Samsung's more expensive handset.
The Moto G Pro delivers similar specs to the Moto G8 Plus, including a Snapdragon 665 chipset and 4GB RAM. Gaming on PubG Mobile should be as smooth as usual, while the 4000mAh battery will keep you going all day.
The Stylus is an Android One mobile as well, offering two OS updates. As for the camera, that's a triple-lens effort with an Action Cam for video and macro lens.

Hi Chris. Just picked up the G Pro and noticed on your review that you said the speakers were ok for stereo speakers. I found that using the custom audio mode in the settings really boosts the bass and now I feel the speakers are better than my Poco X3 NFC and my old Samsung S10! Shame about the SD665 as it's a bit laggy but it's a great phone! Cheers!

I was looking at the Redmi Note 9 Pro, or this Moto G Stylus (in the US) and the Moto One Hyper. I like the Android One Moto phones for the stock Android experience and guaranteed updates but the hardware on the Redmi is better with the 6GB of RAM and a better chipset and arguably better cameras, a larger 5,020mAh battery but can't stand MIUI and their update schedule is unknown with no firm guarantees of what you'll get and when. What do you guys think?

Im getting my Moto G Stylus after thanksgiving. I got mine from Amazon for $199. I got the USA version unlocked.
I'm thinking of getting this phone as it has Android One so I can use it for 2+ years. I can get it for around €220 at this time, is it worth it? I don't need the stylus per se, but this is the newest and most affordable Android One phone that has the specs that I want. But if I do want to use the stylus, is that possible when using a book cover? I tend to drop my phone (I am so clumsy I tend to drop everything) so I always use a screen protector and book cover just in case.

@tech spurt aka Mr Barraclough, is this phone even close to the top tier phones that have night mode on their cameras? My current phone is a pixel 3, but I'm looking out for its replacement now, for when my contract is up in a few months time 👍
I was thinking about maybe ordering this until you said that flubbing search bar can't be removed. Then I remembered that I had to install another launcher on my Moto G7 Power just so I can loop the home screens. On my Umidigi F1 that search bar can't be removed either but with Nova or Microsoft Launcher it's not there. Hopefully the same thing will happen....

After getting the note 9 and surface go, I realised that despite wanting a stylus my entire life, I did not need it.
I am saving up for a e ink drawing tablet because why not.

Motorola Moto G Stylus is the better appellation.
Its available on Lenovo.com and Gstylus is US equivalent but without Android One or NFC

Why did they have to change the charger port? This means if I go somewhere I am going to have to take the charger with me. It was easy to set up, but for the price I wouldn't call it a budget smartphone. I might even send it back!
very tempted mainly because of the 128GB over the G8plus.....I know other phones in similar price brackets have better specs but I feel like I can rely on Moto (my last 3 handsets have been moto) to deliver something solid that covers all the basics such as NFC etc. Currently have the G5S+ and its starting to struggle but can't complain after almost 3 years of use when my aim is always to get 2 years out of a handset.
Same thoughts here, I also have G5S+ and bought pretty much when it launched. Seems G8/Plus/Power don't have NFC, so the G Pro is tempting even though I have no desire for a stylus

Having watched your review several times I decided to take the plunge and buy one. I notice there is no magnometer which is dissapointing as I struggle to find my way out of our lounge never mind anywhere else. I wanted to ask, will google maps work without a magnometer, presumably by tri-angulating mast signals and is there a compass that can work without a magnometer?
I will still go ahead anyway as for years I have tried to get the wife to give up her stone age phone and she has agreed to adopt my beautiful g7 plus.
Your advise or comment would be appreciated. P.S I was also using What Three Words, is that Kaput also?

@@HerMusicOnline I abandoned it and got the Oneplus Nord. I guessed maps would work by satalite but not OS maps and maybe not What Three Words. You don't want a pack of toughened glass screensavers do you, fit the Power also. They arrived well in advance of the phone and I opened the box.

The single core performance of the SD665 in geekbench 5 is right around the same performance of my Pixel's SD821! if a budget phone is matching performance of my old flagship, then I guess I've got a few more years on this guy before performance gets too bad!
That's why there is no need for flagships anymore when budget and midrange are catching up. More and more people are realizing that paying more than 600-700$ for something 200-400$ phones can already do and maybe even more is ridiculous

This should have been the G8 Plus in the first place. Same design (improved) at the front , more memory. Don´t see much purpose on that stylus looks very Microsoft mobile to me but ok.Android One is a huge plus well done! All the range should have that this way moto could deliver timely updates on all devices

One Zoom is actually the last really good & useful that Motorola produced. Since then they made rubbish , like 2-3 new phones each month .

I bought this phone last week ,Lol I got a loan from the bank for $400 dollars to buy this phone ,I have 185 dollars left to spend on other things . I also collect Moto phones ,I have 9 Moto phones all I love ,I recently traded my Moto Edge Plus for the 1400 dollar Razr .
