  • Dodge Charger Super Bee name was actually a clever pun. Sure, it gave Mother Mopar an excuse to use yet another cartoon character to imply that someone would get stung somewhere down the line. But those in the know realized that the Coronet and Charger were referred to as B-bodies. With a big-block under the hood, this was indeed a super B, and it enjoyed modest success, selling more than 50,000 copies over three years. (Alas, in the face of Road Runner sales, topping 82,000 units in 1969 alone, this was but a pittance.)
With many Dodge Charger of the 1960s and ’70s now being rusty abandoned car also out of reach for many first-time classic car buyers. And with this being among the most traditionally engineered cars of its generation, it makes an excellent DIY build muscle car and Old Car Classic Restoration Project.
Model year 1971 was a year of seemingly massive but ultimately superficial change for the Super Bee. The body was completely new: Fuselage styling had taken over at Chrysler, and voluptuous fender curves, a long tapered nose, short deck and a wide C-pillar were all Charger styling features; it made the previous generation Charger look positively formal in comparison

Beautyful done BUT the wheels at the rearend what was on the Charger through the restoration process are so much more cool & nice (Cragar Blade or are these "American Wheels - Blade" with the fat tires, ven esp. at the rearend; That look is so great on those US Classic cars like the ´71 Charger like this one....
I´m doing "the same"; A full restoration of my ´67 Chevy Caprice/Impala 4 Door Hardto/Sport Sedan. What was an complete but rusty Ohio car when i begun with the restoration. Don´t know if you know but this is EXACTLY the same year, model, body style & Trim of the Full size Chevys like it was used for the TV Show Supernatural (They used mostly even the "Caprice Trim" versions for building the screen used "67 Impala" because the Caprice trim has so much more goodies inclusive than the lower trim line "Impala" back in 67. Like Corner Lights, "327 Cui. 4bbl 275hp Turbofire V8" (nice verion of the Chevy Small Block with th "Doubl Hump Heads" &&&, or also often the 12-Bolt Rearend & often much more what comes with the "Caprice trimed" Versions of the 67 Full Size Chevys. And in the TV Show it´s called "Impala" because thy got the "Impala Trim" Side Mouldings, what is the "biggst" difference in the look between the "Caprice" & the "Impala" Trim back in the model year 1967. However, i´m restoring it with only my over 70 years old Dad, we rebuilded the whole wheel arch areas of both front fenders with selfmade sheet metal..cutted, shaped, hammered, welded, cuttet again, welded again, grinded,...untill we got back front fenders like it was when they was new....Because the work at the front fenders is a good example about that what we had & also still have to do on an 67 full size chevy to get back rustfree front fenders or many other part/areas, because noboy produces body panels for restoring such an one year only model of the famous full size Chevy lineup. SADLY! Because resstoring such an 67 Caprice/Impala is a very difficult job, esp. because this is the biggest issue to retoring withouth any new body/sheet metal panels. & often this is the problem for many many people, because they WOULDN´T or COULDN´T get the neccessary skills about rebulding sheet metal at the body & many goo, restorable cars get parted out or crushed, what is such a big shame :(
