    Ghostbusters was a massive success in 1984, but it took more than half a decade for the world to get a second one! Why? I don’t know. That information is probably available on Google. Reasons, presumably.
    Ghostbusters 2 definitely raises some questions. Like did they just redo every beat of the first movie but slightly different? Is Venkman even a Ghostbuster or are we just following his love life? And most importantly, how did everyone forget that ghosts exist?!
    To answer all these questions, check out the pitch meeting that led to Ghostbusters 2!

      Yeah this is the sloppiest pitch meeting I’ve ever seen. Usually all his points are right on the money but so many are off here. He totally half assed this one. Like the whole “aren’t they famous from the first movie” when the movie totally shows they are still famous! The opening scene has them at a birthday party. Crowds cheering for them at court. Just because a few characters don’t recognize them or don’t believe in ghosts doesn’t mean EVERYONE feels that way. Think of the world we live in. We went to the moon and like 40% of people think it was faked. Shit some people believe the world is flat! Just because people see something doesn’t mean they believe it,

    I used to work at the Lucasarts building, and the painting of Vigo was up at the end of the skywalk, leading from LEC to ILM, and if you think that thing is creepy in the movie, try looking at it in real life! It's even creepier leaving from overtime after hours, when everyone has left the office!

    In small defense of the movie (even though almost all points here are correct):
    They knew that they could control the Statue of Liberty with the slime because Egon did experiment with the slime (the toasters).

    @4:03 well they sprayed a toaster earlier with positive slime, and when they played music it began to dance, so that's how they knew it would work on the Statue of Liberty too. Now...how they knew they could CONTROL it with a damn NES Power Stick is something I can't tell you lol

    • @JuryRigged
      @JuryRigged Před 13 dny +2

      Just want to point out somewhere, it's not that they spray it, it's that they drop a dollop of slime into the toaster. And apparently the toaster *manifests* toast that it shoots out. As for the NES controller, I'm inclined to say it's about intent, and just giving the slime something to perceive from the person using the controls.

    I'm still astonished by the fact that they had Vigo kidnap this particular baby, and never once came up with a reason why no other baby would do. What's especially astonishing is that given that his mother was possessed, made out with Louis while possessed, then turned into a demon-dog, then back again, it doesn't seem like it would be that hard to come up with a reason for this baby to be the one picked. Just say the baby was altered by the paranormal incident his mom experienced, so it has special qualities other babies don't. Boom. Solved.
    Also, the Scolari brothers reminded me of Waldorf and Statler for some reason.

    • @KasumiKenshirou
      @KasumiKenshirou Před 13 dny

      Louis and Dana could've conceived the baby when they were Terror Dogs. (They'd have to change it so the movie takes place not too long after the first one instead of five years, or just have Oscar be five.) There's even a deleted scene from the first movie where Louis asks Dana if they "did it" when they were both dogs. Dana tells him "no", but she could've been lying.

      @@KasumiKenshirou
      In fact, it would have been in-character for her to lie about something like that. I agree that would have been an even stronger connection, though as you point out, they'd have to change the timeline a tad to make it work.
      If Oscar had (sort of) been the child of Vinz Clortho and Zuul, it would explain why any other paranormal entity would want to get ahold of him.
