Quint’s monologue is one of the best scenes in cinematic history imho.
We absolutely agree! Thank you so much for sharing your thoughts. Be safe and have a great day☺
John Milius wrote that dialougre and Robert Shaw edited it down
Agree 💯.
What’s more horrific is that it’s a true story.
The failings of the mechanical shark Bruce forced Spielberg and crew to re-write the original shooting schedule and made for a far better film. Not seeing the shark early on in the film made it a hell of a lot more terrifying.
Bit of a myth that, I'm afraid. Bruce wasn't scheduled for the first half of the film. The shark was hidden by design early on and the land based scenes were filmed more or less on time. There was no way to use Bruce in the shallow waters where the beach scenes were filmed, so they never intended to. The beach scenes were filmed in May and June 1974. Bruce was never scheduled to be used until filming went out to sea for the Orca based scenes in July. That's where everything started going wrong and hardly any shots of Bruce were got until nearly September.
This is all in The Jaws Log and Memories From Martha's Vineyard. Unfortunately the various documentaries confuse the issue and exaggerate it.
I was ten years old when Jaws came out. My parents took my to see it. It was the first time a movie was given a "may be too intense for younger viewers" warning, and it started the "Summer Blockbuster" movie craze.

Favourite scene is Holiday Roast 😂 the jetty being pulled off and then slowly turning and creaking, the music so we know it's the actual shark, the sheer panic when he can't get up and then the comedy element "Can we go home now?" Brilliant! Watched film 100s of times, still love that bit 😀
What was the huge blooper ?
This video.
The world may never know.
😱 first Watched this movie as a child, and it still gives me nightmares even today !...
We experience the same thing from time to time too! What is your all-time favorite film Alan?
We had it on VHS and I used to fast forward the opening scene.
I think the blooper is that the boat guy goes into the sharks mouth but then it bites off his leg
I love Jaws what a classic still scary to me
Remember reading comments from Roy and Richard about the constant problems with the mechanical sharks during filming "we waited months for that damn shark to work ,when the film wrapped it was crack open the champagne!" It was said Spielburg left on a boat from.the location declaring "I shall NOT return!"

When Shaw gets eaten by Bruce you could see Bruce's rubber teeth bending. You missed it.
No one missed that

After I saw Jaws I was even afraid to swim in the deep end of my friends pool for about 2 weeks!! In perspective I was like 10 years old at the time and it scared the *uck out of me!! My favorite character was the salty old Captain!! Great 👍 piece of work from Spielberg and the entire team of actors and crew!! Bloopers make a true classic!! Still one of my favorites!
We don't blame you as we're also afraid. Thanks for sharing your life story. What other types of video would you like to see?
I was only 11 when I saw this movie at the cinema with my Dad, it’s the main reason Im scared of the sea, I never go any deeper than my knees.
Fun stuff, thanks for sharing! Are you still scared of the sea?
@@FactsVerseI absolutely am still scared of the sea, this film scarred me for life, “You’re gonna need a bigger boat” I don’t think they could build a boat big enough to get me on it, lol.
Me either, sharks are my biggest fear
I read the book for the first time a few years back. This is one of those rare cases where, in my opinion, the movie was better than the book it was based on. One of the two biggest issues was the whole mafia subplot, Mayor Vaughn's involvement with it, actually bogged down the book considerably, and, I'm glad it was excised. The second biggest issue I had with it was all the main characters except for Quint we completely unlikable. The fact that the shark wasn't working for most of the shoot actually made the movie much better. Most of the attacks you couldn't see the shark, and that helped add to the suspense. What you don't see can be far more terrifying than what you do see, which is the approach Ridley Scott used in ALIEN, barely showing the titular creature at all until the final showdown on the Narcissus.

@@FactsVerse I'm a massive sci-fi and horror junky, my biggest loves in the sci-fi genre being STAR WARS, STAR TREK, and most of all, DOCTOR WHO. But, I do like most of your videos I come across.
Totally agree, I read the book twice thinking maybe I misunderstood it the first time, but it was so boring, The movie is still my favorite to this day!
guess I missed it again
never understood why the dude in the opening couldnt hear her screams
He was too drunk and was passed out.
I love the way Richard laughs. Lol!

@@FactsVerse you've never done any Malcolm Mcdowell's movies.
I fully agree.
I like his wisecracking as the crowds are starting to go after tge shark..."They're all gonna die!"
When the shark is dead you can see a wire sticking out as it sinks to the bottom.
Nice catch, thanks for sharing! We'll double check this scene.
@@FactsVerse I may be wrong but give it a go. It was where the head was. It was a white wire.
I think that was rope. Remember the shark was attached to the 3 barrels by long ropes.
My parents and I went to see this when I was in college, spring of 76. During one particularly horrible scene, I started to feel ill and buried my face in my father's shoulder. He asked me if I was all right, and I said no.
Interesting, thanks for sharing your life story. What other types of video would you like to see on our channel?
To this day I avoid watching the scene where the fisherman's head comes tumbling out the the boat
From malfunctioning mechanical sharks to last-minute casting, every aspect of production had its own thrilling story.
When the shark is destroyed at the end of the movie, the sound it makes as it's sinking is actually from DUEL when the semi truck goes over the cliff at the end... also directed by Spielberg.

You didn't notice that just before the USS Indianapolis speech, Quint takes out his fake tooth, but when Bruce chomps down on him the tooth is magically back in Quint's mouth!
I guess him popped it back in so he could go out with a pretty smile. Lol.

After seeing all the Jaws movies when I was younger I don't think I'll ever look at swimming in large bodies of water the same again😟😲
Another little “in joke” which I caught immediately over 20 years ago is that “Bruce” is the name of the shark in ‘Finding Nemo’.
When a character says something inaccurate, like the date of a ship going down, you could consider he or she an unreliable narrator, and not necessarily repeating a mistake by the screenwriter. People make mistakes, characters make mistakes.

I was just a kid when it came out.We lived in port Arthur, texas It wasn't that far from the beach.June 75 The beaches were packed by August 1975 mile between each car. At the beach But my mother said what Jaws did was open people's eyes about shark attacks at beaches Prior to jaws most people thought shark attacks had been in the deep water
Sterling Hayden had tax problems that kept him from being Quint.
Interesting, thanks for sharing this info! What other types of video would you like to see on our channel?
My favorite scene is the one w/Brody & his son.
I bought the jaws plastic shark game where you pull items out of his mouth. Well, i took it to play in the tub i was 9 then not realizing the rubber bands on the mouth made the Jaws move up and down i thought it came to life and i threw that toy out out the tub so fast i never trusted it or played with it again -it got thrown out and i went on to Star Wars Collecting.
For a film set mainly at sea, they really didn’t prepare very well for being at sea lmao. How the hell are they gonna not account for water damage when designing a damn shark 🤦♂️
Lee Marving??? I'm seriously questioning this video!!!!
So, what was the Blooper that everyone missed, now it's obvious????
What blooper? The title is very misleading as it doesn't point to one specific blooper.
Glad they didn’t go with the scene with the boy and the boat guy on the surface with the guy being attacked..They were way to close to the dorsal fin
There should be a prequel _ fouced on quint's, time on the USS Indiana.
it would probably be 2024 pc infused
5:05 Ranger Hooper ? He was somehow a type of Ranger ?
The huge blooper that everyone missed in this video. Guess why.
Love this movie!! I'll watch it anytime I catch it on TV. This movie is why I won't go past my ankles in the Gulf. 😬
One of our favorites too, you've got fine taste! What other types of video would you like to see?
When the shark starts ramming the hull right after Quint's speech, the blows are rapid-fire. In quick succession.
It's like Jaws has two big arms doing rapid left-right punches! Lol.
The only way the shark could be ramming the hull is with his nose. Just picture it hitting the boat that quickly. He must've looked like Woody Woodpecker down there! Lol!
The shark could only ram once, then swim away to gain speed and THEN hit a 2nd time.
He couldn't bust thru the hull in quick succession- BAM BAM BAM BAM!!!
So true! Thanks for sharing your keen observation. What other types of video would you like to see on our channel?
Unless he's bashing it with his head and tail side on, like when he's shaking the cage off him.
Just watch it now l am growing up legendary movie

I have all of the Jaws movies on DVD what I find really scary is I think the bull sharks can adapt from ocean water to Lake water I live in Michigan and love to swim in Lake Michigan wouldn't it be a trip if there were sharks in Lake Michigan ?bull sharks?
I believe that is the shark species responsible for the series of New Jersey shark attacks in the 1910s, which is briefly mentioned by Roy Scheider’s character in the movie.
Shark fishing was a thing before Peter Benchley wrote the novel he was reading an article on fisherman catching a big great white shark the biggest one on record which showed a picture of the shark thus created the novel and idea on what if a big shark decide not to leave the area, what was in books on sharks was limited even when some study sharks many knew nothing about them,in the summer of 1916 shark attacks plagued New Jersey for 12 days the experts didn't believe sharks could bite through bones and skin 5 victims of shark attacks in 1916 it was the hottest summer on record 100 degrees a sea captain seen a shark swimming in the creak the towns folks laughed and called him a drunk old fool did not believe a shark could swim in a creak as it was unheard of what they fail to realize is that half salt water and half fresh water, they never caught the shark or sharks as it was believed to be more then one how ever a fisherman caught a shark open it up and found human remains.Peter became advocate for sharks as he during that time thought like Matt Hopper does all shark do is swim eat and make baby sharks mindless eating machines.

Land Shark
Love it, but don't understand why they changed the script because the real shark tore up the underwater cage. In the book, Hooper dies, but in the movie he lives. Why not just keep the footage of the shark tearing up the cage, with fragments of Hooper's body (mannequin) floating about? Not to be gross, just making a point.
The original Hooper character was like the Hooper in the book, not very likeable or sympathetic. When Dreyfuss got the role and the character was rewritten and became much more likeable, I have a sneaky feeling they would have let him live anyway.
So true, thank you so much for sharing your thoughts. What other types of video would you like to see?
Why does the decapitated head come floating out of the submerged wreckage? Some weird current?
Why does it have a missing eye?
The shark's mouth is way too big to somehow nibble out one eyeball out of its socket with no other damage around it.
So, something else must've ate out one single eyeball after just one day. Uhhhhh... Ok.
Thanks for watching! We're glad to know that you love our video. What other types of video would you like to see on Facts Verse?
A fish probably nibbled it out.
Did you know filming in swimming pool one head came out in hole
Yes, it was shot in the swimming pool of the editor.

There is nt a favorite scene in jaws it's all excellent
I live in Massachusetts.Have been to the place they filmed. I know a lot about the movie. They filmed in Nantucket, where are you can go along ways until the water bonsai up here waste about. They had a little person in the cage . They filmed one seen in a swimming pool. He used just parts of the shark made from plastic. It was Hell for them to film this movie . In one scene , you can hear the motors of the shark . I have a house in the Vineyard and one on the cape. My parents owned one and I bought the other. One of them is close to Obama’s summer home.
B-F-D!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Very interesting, thanks for sharing this info! What other types of video would you like to see on our channel?
It was filmed all over Martha's Vineyard. They were originally going to try Nantucket but they decided on Martha's Vineyard.
The scene with the real shark was filmed off South Australia.
Yes the mechanical shark attacking the cage was filmed in a Hollywood tank. That was the only scene with the mechanical shark that they didnt film in the real ocean off Martha's Vineyard.
@@lyndoncmp5751 I was born and raised in Massachusetts. I went to the areas it was filmed. One place is just west of P Town. Now they have to worry about Real sharks we even get a few Great Whites. So the beaches we went to as kids are closed for long periods of time.
