This is what happens when one person makes it and has 300 family members he is expected to take care of.
Not at all. A lot of players have many moochers but don't somehow eat themselves out of the game. The guy just wanted to eat.
You don't even make sense lol
T.M. Will he chose to eat instead of dealing with deep seeded issues. Everyone counting on him to support them all. Probably other things too!
Keylan Hearn this man ate because his entire family and distant family looked to him to support them all. I'm sure there were other deep seeded issues that he used food to cope with. No one just eats and eats and eats for no reason.
Yemi for most people it would motivate them to work harder. But, he wasn't able to handle the stress or emotions. So instead or talking and working through his stress, he ate to numb himself. Look at the show my 600 pound life and the people on the show eat to numb their pain. They have to go to a therapist who teaches them how to work through their problems instead of using food to numb them to their problems.
This is sad. People dismiss the psychological components of obesity. Overeating is no different from alcoholism etc.

Addiction is a disease...
Lisa Simpson okay bitch they both addictions but they aren’t similar only similarity they have is they are both categorized as being “addictions” so stfu
Thank you for your comment Lisa.
Addiction comes in many different forms 😢

Yeah, I do understand my so-called friends are very limit & family as well. & you are right they only called you when they need something. Never anything else about how you are just to take care of them only. So I decide not to listen to them anymore
Yep, I said it because it's always true not doubt & I don't them now. Just think about. Thank you 4 ur comment & a nice warm day
Exactly 💯

his family some leeches smh
all due to being super-ugly and also popular.
I agree
nope
He need a therapist, the eating was due to stress.
tonemson yep.
@joanne chon considering it was almost 25 year's ago, I'm not sure that the new verbiage is valid. Not to mention all the thing's he was dealing with all at the same time compounded his excessive eating. Notice they didn't say he had that problem in Jr high, high school, or college.
@joanne chon its the charles barkley addiction
sha broussard can’t spell families with out lies.
@sha broussard family is the worst adversary ///they use "love" and guilt as weapons
So depression is what got him to over eat and got him out of the league

Bro, The quality on these videos are insane
Towelie that’s exactly what I was thinking too like the way it started, the narration and everything
I'm About to snap this Video.

This is actually kinda sad 🤷🏽♀️😔
Tina Bullard #bigCountry Bryant Reeves a former Vancouver/Memphis Grizzlies player for 6seasons 1995-2001 dealt with some of the same issues as John #Hotplate Williams, sad but extremely talented players
I saw a video on Reeves recently. He is doing good and has a farm somewhere in the country.
@Marcus Felton gril
Marcus Felton really sexist?

At the end of the day, we both like the same thing (🍆)...let's not be petty sis... We're on the same team. I'm a bedwench you're a bottom - we good girl ☠️
Sadly depression got him kicked out not food. Food was a coping mechanism for depression ... He needed help not exclusion
Glad you stuck up for him aye agree with you it was depression not nice the comments of people bringing him down good bless you ❤🙏
Thank you. I was taught to never look down on someone unless it's to give them a hand up. Always be kind!
Walker yes it cost nothing to be kind,my mum always said don't treat others how you would not be treated urself good bless you ❤🙏
The teams he played for offered him help in the form of nutritionists and psychologists. It appears his off the court issues(family, child support) got the better of him.
You guys have so many great stories that I’ve never heard of before. I love the content.

Most definitely
The understanding of mental health is terrible even today so I can imagine how it was like back then.
@@NotaPizzaGRL Agreed
My guy had man titties
This is a mental health issue. Using food for emotional comfort. Shame his family don't see this. All they see is their fat cash cow to take care of them. This is a sign of how he he was raised.
oh shut the hell up. Why use this as an opportunity to shit on the man's family....you know nothing about how he was raised. you people are something else
The way he was raised. That mean you must not have raised a. Child.
No manual comes with the baby.
@@steeez0 lmao I'm 😂😂😂😂😂
@Tina Turner Clips how old are you? ....I ask because I once use to eat nothing but snacks, fast food, etc and like you was skinny and not gaining weight until I got in my 30's....after I had my children. At 33 yrs old after my second child was born I NEVER LOST THE BABY WEIGHT I put on during my pregnancy.....bottom line is you will gain the weight later in life if you keep continuing eating like that, NO ONE EVER TOLD ME THAT when I was young. My daughter's pediatrician just told me this, she said just because my daughter is skinny now (because her metabolism is high) if she continues to eat like that when she gets older it will catch up to you because she already absorbed the fat but once her metabolism slows down (which everyone's do) that's when it will sneak up on you. I tell you this to be mindful on your intake of junk foods.
🙄💆🏾♀️Everyone is not destined to struggle with weight.... I heard all that "high metabolism", "it'll be hard to loose later" talk when I was coming up cause I could eat EVERYTHING and still kept my figure.... 1st it was wait til you have a baby, then it was wait til you turn 30, now its wait til you turn 40.... I'm 35+, two kids in, in a great emotional space and 15lbs smaller than my high school weight of 145lb...still wanting to pick up that 15😜
I keep snacks and I'm not the most active & my figure is just fine 👍🏾 btw snacks do not always mean junk food😉
It was a huge losing point when heavier women would say these things or slyly wished obese weight gain over me... To me they seemed envious and praying for the demise of my figure since they lost theirs🤫🤦🏾♀️ ..... 😂🤣
This channel is so underrated, it needs to be a damn tv show
Arguably, the best high school player in LA city section history. He was that good. Lack of discipline destroyed his NBA career. Everyone has their path though. I hope he’s found peace within.
I'd strongly AGREE! People looked at his opposing physicality, but his mental capacity for the game was other worldly. The effortlessness that we saw in Magic and Bird is what I saw in John. I, too, hope he's doing well.
Sounds like he just depended on talent alone
I will say this. I have a knee injury now and it is the worse pain I have experience I weigh 204 now and the weight does effect mobility. I couldn't imagine being that big and dealing with yhese same pains and running up down NBA court
John HAS SON PLAYING COLLEGE. BALL AT CLEVELAND ST.
I don’t know, I think it’s an eating disorder, that’s not lack of discipline. It’s a mental health issue
Honestly I feel for him, the pressure of having to take care of so many people is what probably made him lose focus.
Zion needs to watch this video as a warning
Sandernista yep, I feel he was drafted to New Orleans of all places to test his discipline haha
tribj001 nigga he aint even eating food like that nigga overweight in muscle
@@khadim3284 nah, he has some baby fat
Shams Shams Frfr 😂
@@khadim3284 you're insane if you think he's all muscle. Dude can barely walk with all that weight on his body. He needs to get slim or will end up having a similar career.
John Williams was incredibly talented. Even when he was overweight on the Clippers, his footwork was incredible. One of the best players I’d ever seen. Could have been a perennial all-star. His nickname was “Hot Plate” because he couldn’t stop eating.
Another player who was a bust in the NBA because of uncontrolled weight was Melvin Turpin from Kentucky. Picked sixth overall in the 1984 draft, he ate himself out of the league after six seasons. And Mel's story has a tragic footnote. He committed suicide in 2010. ULtimately, food addiction and depression go hand-in-hand.
also Oliver Miller
WT Keeton So sad🥺
Nice displays and narration ,honestly thought I was watching 30 for 30 on ESPN . Keep up the hard work. You earned a subscription
The narrator said John Williams "chose food over the NBA", which is technically true, but the brother had a problem. No one in their right mind chooses food or drugs or sex or alcohol over multi-millions of dollars. The dude had a problem.
@Romeo M shut your dumbass up.
Romeo M Weak willed men maybe
Nicolas Dane He had several problems and they were all members of his family.
Some form of depression very sad
Weak mindset
Binge eating disorder brought on by depression and anxiety.
My guy had man titties
he ain really want the money , he really felt pressured .. i wouldn’t like that either
That's what I thought too. It was like he didn't try because he didn't want to continue knowing they would still want money. So he probably wanted the money gone. It's sad family can make you go into depression because of money.
Very informal channel! I enjoy all the clips and visuals to go with the audio. It makes it east to follow the story your telling!
Great Video my friend. you have a true talent for narrating and production. I look forward to your next videos

NBA Insider The whole thing is amazing! From the editing to the presentation. The knowledge that is portrayed with not too much hate or personal feelings.
You give an insight and touch on situations that many overlook or are too hesitant to discuss. You deal with the real and unbeknownst issues of the NBA.
Not to mention it’s a mystery... who would have ever thought the idea of professional sports and mystery’s could form into a series. This is awesome... keep making it great!

Self Control is such an important aspect of life. Unfortunately he lacked that. And it showed. Couldn't pull out, couldn't say NO, and couldn't stop eating. Counseling would have helped. Seems like a good guy.

Its important to have discipline as a professional athlete if you want to have a long tenured career. If not it will be a great missed oppurtunity.
Kind of like trying to move a franchise...
One of my all-time favorite channels ever!
Great video and content
WITH HIS FAMILY MOOCHING OFF OF HIM WHO COULD BLAMB THE MAN FOR HAVING THIS HABIT??
When he was in college he was one of my favorite players. He could do it all. Sometimes you have to feel for these guys with the way family and friends leach off of them. What kind of an adult expects someone else to take care of them? Its disgusting. I've had two close friends who made it to the league years ago. Both had long careers. I never treated either any different and didn't ask either one for even a dime.
Jonathan Collins what's they names, the buddies u referring to
I think everybody would want to take care of parents and grandparents. But he also made bad decisions. Had child support for 2 kids. It's just easy to blame family but he has to take some responsibility. He should've said no.
I've also had a couple friends in the league. They both helped out alot of people but had control to not let people take advantage. Most rich people help family. But I agree you can't take care of everybody.
@Tee Bo what difference does it make giving names. I could give any two out there and you would never know if it's true or not. You dont think these athletes have friends they grew up with who are just working people.
I'm kinda curious too.
Some already mentioned, but again, this video is almost a cinema movie, that's more than crazy. Cutting, commentary, music, content aso. INSANE. Biiiig thumb up! And sub
Thanks for the post very interesting story

This is an amazing video bro it’s crazy to me how this video got 175 dislikes though 🤦♂️
What’s fascinating is that he was still given so many chances and still had a NBA career that was significantly longer than the average
Some people just struggle with weight there entire lives period.

This is the funniest SPORTS VIDEO i have ever seen..am gonna watch it again!!!!
Good content Q food reviews god bless
I'm a little confused here what about Shaquille O'Neal so you're telling me that Shaquille O Neal weighs under 300 lb
Kevin Andrews right.. that’s what i was thinking 😂😂
Shaq was also around 3 to 5 inches taller and had a better muscle to fat ratio I am sure
BehemothExpert5000 nah i just looked it up at his heaviest Shaq was 370 pounds and he is 7’1 which would have made him moderately obese and ive seen pictures of him where he looked very heavy and out of shape. that’s why it’s really shocking to me that John Williams essentially lost his job over this even tho he could still deliver with his skill set
@@computerlover536 Shaw is 7'1 and williams was 6'8 that a big difference to be in the 300s. I think the biggest problem is that he didn't wanted to help himself and he would miss practices. things that Shaq doesn't do.
Celia Jeridini the practice thing makes sense because even with the extra height Shaq would’ve still been proportionately bigger than Williams. so really the suspension wasn’t really his weight per say it was more so due to his lack of effort
You know if he had gone to Chicago, Michael Jordan would of had him lose that weight.
Nice video!
Thank you for the kind words and support! If you do not mind telling us, what did you enjoy about the video?
great man !!!!!!!!!!!!
When he played for us ( Washington Bullets) he was the TRUTH....Low post..off the dribble..free throws...his jumper his handle..super smooth crossover...Such a shame...Could NOT be checked...And had defense...
IF I WAS AN ATHLETE .I TOLD MY FAMILY TO GET A DAMN JOB.
Why? Who wouldn't want to take care of their family. Of course he should've learned to say no at times. But I don't know any person that wouldn't want to help Mom and Dad.
Same here
Bro james yeah but it’s different when they try to put all their personal problems on you. That’s how people become broke real quick.
@Brian Mcintosh "it's not your responsibility to take care of your parents you were their responsibility and don't owe them anything in return".
Maybe you weren't close with your parents cus that is a very selfish messed up view of things. I can never turn my back on people who provided a loving nurturing environment that allowed me to thrive. If your parents did right by you and you turn your back on them, as a human being you're a real piece of shit.
Pierre Louis They should already have one anyway! 🚫🧢

Dude had literally gained soooo much weight, the announcers gave him the nickname "Hot Plate" Williams. P.S I live in the D.C area, we never confused Hot Plate for Hot Rod. Cav's were winners, we were losers. Lol

This is sad his family broke him down, i wish while diets kept being suggested someone would have suggested counseling
No discipline, that's all. He went from the Real Deal to the Real Meal.
Good video documentary, seems to be a trend with LSU players,John Williams,Stanley Roberts, and Shaquille Oneal ,yes Shaq also Oliver Miller should be next on your list I went to High School with him
BusaridingT B. Shaq had a ripped frame in college and also played 19years in the NBA, Stanley Roberts was kicked outta the NBA due to drug use not weight and injuries, John Williams just like bigcountry Bryant Reeves of Oklahoma, another talented bigman career in the NBA was cut short due to injuries, but give props to them for having a impact on college basketball and achieving there dreams of being drafted and playing in the National Basketball Association

Yeah, they’re really throwing around the word “obese” here.
Overweight? Visibly. Compulsive overeater? Seems so. Wildly irresponsible with his level of fitness? Given the unique nature of his occupation I think that’s fair to say.
Even given all that, at no point did I see a picture or piece of footage here that “clinically obese” would accurately describe.
