@@NBAInsider So many things! A few that pop to mind: storytelling, amount of research, production value and cinematography. The topics you touch on are original and I'm always learning something from your videos. Whereas most CZcams NBA videos tend to focus on stats and basketball accomplishments, you folks humanize the players and dig into interesting and generally unexplored areas. It's always a compelling and beautiful watch, which I would put in the same league as any excellent short-form documentary film. Keep up the great work! I heard of John Brisker pretty solid pro basketball player who was very self destructive too bad he was intelligent just had some demons he could’ve had a better career!!!!!!
@LORD K*D he died in uganda fight for amin
No one just leaves 29k in their bank account. This man gone.
He dead
29K n the 70's no way.
good point ; and hanging out with Idi Amin
29k in 1978 translates to 120k today, yeah he gone
Back then you could. Back in the 1970s that could happen. No internet, ATM, or Bank transactions in Africa.
I like the way your voice sound & you're an amazing narrator...

THANK YOU for making this.. I am his grandson and this really hurts. My father and I share so much in common with him. I love him and wish we met.. guys please show respect for this man! Thank you again.
Young Man your Grandfather was a good man when I knew him back in the 60's. I worked out with him and your Great-uncle Ralph Brisker on a regular basis. The competition was freice and sometimes tempers flared. But I remember John as a good friend and a great competitor.
Dakari Knighten Young man your Grandfather is a good man and a great athlete. I worked out with him and your Great-uncle Ralph on a regular basis back in the late 60's. He was very tough but never dirty. It hard for me to believe so much of the negative press he received. It just does not seem like the same man I remember so well
Do you have any insight into the mystery?
May the God of our Ancestors continue to bless you and your family 👪🏾 🙏🏿 🤲🏿🥀😔 i pray one day you'll know what really happened to your grandpa 👴🏿 "Much Respect 🤲🏿🥀😔

I grew up in Toledo and watched those Toledo University basketball teams as a boy in the 60's. Brisker played with Steve Mix who graduated in 1968 and later played with Julius Irving on the Philadelphia 76ers. I remember Brisker. He didn't do all that fighting when he played for Toledo. Guess he was saving it for the pros. I remember when he went missing and all the crazy stories that were circulating. I always wondered what happened to him. I am surprised but pleased you did this video about him. He was a popular player at Toledo but in those days players from small schools like Toledo didn't get much national attention. I idolized the players on those 60's Toledo teams and ended up playing for them myself in the mid 70's. He went missing at about the same time I was graduating from UT as it is now called. Nice, informative video. Well done.

Ghana, Kenya would've been safe! But Uganda? 😟
Even Nigeria in the 70s would have been safer than an Idi Amin-led Uganda!
THANKS A LOT BILL RUSSELL!!
Absolutely loved this video. I've watched it several times. I'm from Toledo and am a huge fan of Rockets basketball, but I don't remember Brisker and never heard of him until I watched this video. I was 5-6 years old when he was a star for the University of Toledo basketball team. I heard of a couple of black players getting into it with head coach Bob Nichols and getting kicked off the team because they weren't going to class. That caused a huge uproar in the African American community not far from the campus, feeling Nichols was being unfair to these players. I don't know if John Brisker was one of those players or not. This hindered Nichols' ability to recruit many black players from the late-1960's to the early-1980's. He was a great coach and had some outstanding teams, but not a lot of African American stars. The outcry from the community took its toll on Nichols, his family and the University of Toledo.
Brisker was one of the toughest basketball player ever along with Ron Artest, Bill Laimbeer, Mason, Barkley, Rodman, Oakley, KG, Shaquille, Maurice Lucas & Jim Loscutoff (fearlessl enforcer & strength described him perfectly).
I may forget some names, but still!
Laimbeer wasn't tough he was dirty. Modern day Zaza
@@alexhennigh5242
He was always in the face of everyone... Zaza tend to disappear when it comes to back down his antics.
Bill Laimbeer was also laughing in your face, which was even more frustrating.
Gotta mention Ben Wallace. He was a beast!

I worked out with John Brisker, Rudy Tomjanovich, and Spencer Haywood on a regular basis back in the 60s. I heard many different stories this story finally gives me some idea of what actually happened to John. I just hope he doesn't want to be found and is not dead.
Racistim destroyed John Briskets hatred that boiled within him that he couldn't shake and no one ever tried to help him not even the great Bill Russell what a shame!
@@depo1770 John was a talented "hot head" for sure, but it was not fueled by racism. He played with Rudy T in High School and they were good friends. If you watched the entire story you will discover he had his first experience with racism against Blacks at the University of Toledo. Bill Russell was a great player, but not a great one for developing young players.
@@robertfrazier1377 You're exactly right. He took over and coached an already assembled machine to championships. But, on his own, as either a coach or GM, Russell was no miracle worker and couldn't adapt to the changing era, causing quite a bit of dissension over his old school disciplinarian methodology. Like so many other of the greats, a washout in management.
What was the main story you heard about John? I’ve been researching about briskers story for over 2 years, and I can’t find anything material on him. Only rumors and more rumors.
Thank you

Just off rip, Hamtramck is a city INSIDE of Detroit. NOT in the vicinity OF Detroit. Highland Park is ANOTHER city inside of the Detroit city limits. Wanted to say this to those that don't realise the size of Detroit.
Facts
do you not consider a city inside another city in the same vicinity? i mean... they are. also the hamtramck and highland story is interesting. it only stayed its own city for tax purposes because of powerful auto moguls. they should make a movie about it.
@@soulfly3438, no, I don't. My definition of vicinity is near to, but, not part of. Your heart isn't in the vicinity of your body, it's inside of it. Inkster is in the vicinity.
