There is nothing as tasty as Fig Preserves on a good hot Homemade Buttermilk Biscuit. What do you do with your figs. Share you ideas with the rest of us.
Good morning Miss Brenda. I have finally got to see a lìve post! I watch you every day. I use the products that you endorse. I find that they are all excellent. We love the Y'all sweet tea! And the Amish Farm Soap is wonderful! I can't get the White Lily flour here, but I can get it online. I thank you for sharing these things with us! I love your cooking. It's old time, like my mom and grandmother. It takes me back... I always like to hear how you love God and have a spiritual message for us. Thank you for sharing your life with us!!❤
I can remember my momma going to the farmers market and buying things by the bushel. Going home to prepare it all and standing over a hot stove and just dealing with the heat. Later during the winter we had tons of frozen and canned foods, you know it was hard work but you had to do it, people get hunrgy.
You just brought bake so many memories! My grandparents had a huge fig tree in their backyard. They would not let me help pick because I am allergic to mosquitoe bites and there were plenty of those critters out there. I did help my grandmother stem them and watched her make fig preserves. I ate as many as I stemmed!
Awe, thank you! Brings back memories of my dad and I canning in 1991. He had that same "dooodad". It was always used when canning tomatoes! Dad and i canned our last batch of green beans in 1992. He died later that year. I still have 2 quart jars that I could never bring myself to open!
I love fig preserves! My Dad back in the 50’s used a small washtub and cooked them slowly in it on the gas stove! My oh my was that stuff great with fresh milk and fresh butter mixed together on toast! He was a cook on a warship in the WWII and could cook a ham that would melt in your mouth delicious!! I miss his cooking every Christmas! He went to Heaven in December 1988😪🤗‼️
I’m so glad to find this video because I have two fig trees we have planted a few years ago. Now I know what to do with the fruit. Thank you and God bless you Brenda!
My Momma left the stems on her preserves because my Daddy liked to pick them up and eat it when he wanted a “little something sweet”! Good memories, thanks Brenda! ❤
How wonderful to be able to grow your own figs!!! We don’t have quite enough heat here in Vancouver, Canada. A wonderful gift from one of your many friends! You are loved & admired, Miss Brenda❣️always grateful for your posts, many try to emulate you - but you are THE original ! Thank you for many hrs of pure enjoyment & info. How did your strawberry pot ORCHID replant turn out - I did not see the outcome - what a brilliant idea!,
The fig preserves are a process but really a lot simpler than I thought. I am going to look for some ripe figs & do this for presents! Thank you so much! God bless you! 🙏 ❤
My mom made the best fig cookies that you could ever eat they were so delicious. Thank you Miss Brenda for sharing this video brought back some beautiful memories ❤️ God Bless you Miss Brenda ❤️
Good morning ms. Brenda. I am watching from Staten Island , New York. I love figs. My friends mom had a tree and she used to give us the fresh figs. Nothing like it.
💚🩷💚Sure did enjoy this 1. Reminds me when Mother & I prepped strawberries, blackberries, pears & apples for preserves, jellies & jams. I just had a BDAY & SHE will be 94 in Sept. I hope to be able to visit her later today.💚7.15.2024, 5a.m.🩷
Brenda my mom house were we lived use to have a fig tree in the back yard they were so good I would like yo make some jelly God Bless you and your sweet family❤❤👍👍
I have a fig tree in my backyard and I’m fixing to go see if they are ready to harvest. I hope I have enough to make some fig preserves. Hopefully the birds and squirrels left me some! Those look yummy.
Brenda, I sound just like you lately. I have been harvesting figs for the past few weeks, making fig scones, figgy pudding, fig ice cream, and cleaning and freezing cut figs. This is the first year I have had bumper crop! When I wake up, my eyes itch and then later in the day I start sniffling miserably. I love the figs and like to experiment with different recipes but today I am wondering if I have an allergy to handling the figs and having contact with the tree🧐. It won’t keep me from eating figs, but like you, I cannot imagine what else is causing the rhinitis. Love watching your videos. Stay well. Thank you for sharing.
I have planted my 3rd fig tree and hoping this one makes it thru the summer this year. My Momma and Grands made fig preserves and syrup every year. I have made them from bought figs but will continue to hope I can grow my own,,,ENJOY😊
My mom and aunties, grandmother. The whole family cooked figs, brought back memories. I'm so glad I saw this tonight, now I got to find someone with a fig tree. LOL. I know a man with 2 huge trees but he's stingy and rather the birds eat his figs.lol
Have memories of making fig, preserves, for sure! Don’t eat them anymore, though! Trying to stay away from so much sugar in my life lol! I know they’re absolutely delicious though!
God bless you as well Mrs. Brenda. I hope you feel better today. I also have allergies, and I started using nasal spray every morning and before bed. Let me tell you that this has helped me. I hope that you will try and maybe it will help you. Have a wonderful day ❤
Maybe something off the figs is aggravating your allergies? I’m surprised you don’t have to water bath the jars or something. You sure made it seem easy, and I love your outfits!! 😊
Brenda when the figs seal in the jar they will ping as they seal. Also I put a cup of fruit and a cup of sugar to make my preserves like my mother and .y grand.other from Georgia. They are delicious.
Our fig tree is just coming back this year from the severe freeze several years ago that killed it to the ground. It sprouted back that year but didn't produce edible figs until this year. The years we have had plenty, I either give them away or make a spiced fig recipe, or both. Fresh figs are my favorite.
I love figreserves. And they’re really easy to make. When my parents were alive they had a huge fig tree in their yard. We made lots of fig preserves every year. But now they’re passed on and somebody else on the house. 🙁
So sad that people steal other people’s videos and post them and make money with them . I make sure I’m using the person’s actual channel that I watch and not a scammer using their videos.
When I was a little girl, we had a huge fig tree, and they were the black figs, and they were bigger than the ones you have. I grew up in Northern California, and our figs must have been a different variety. I loved them. I also used to climb the tree, just to get away from what was going on.
I thought when you canned things you had to use a canner pot or pressure canner? Maybe with figs you don't need to but I would love to know! Love your shoes Brenda! 😊❤❤❤
These will not be shelf stable unless you water bath for 10 mins in a rolling boil with an inch of water over the jars. If you want just to out in fridge for 3 months then you don’t have to water bath, but the lemon juice must be put in in any case
I cut mine in half or quarters. That’s the way my mom always did it. I live fig preserves and I just added the sugar to my figs. I’ll cook them tomorrow morning. I have a small tree.

Wow 🤩. My mother, from Troy, loved 🥰 her figs! She would sit in the fig tree 🌴 and just eat until she was full.
Love your videos Ms Brenda, and I watch everyone❤️you’re such an inspiration and lift spirits with your kindness and smile 🙏🏻

Oh my, I haven't had figs in ages. I'm definitely going to see if I can find some.❤
I love fresh figs. Surprised you don’t have to put the jars in a water bath canner to seal them.
They will seal without water bath canning them
The syrup from the fig preserves is fantastic over vanilla ice cream.
