- Sometimes we just have to use what we have in our refrigerator or pantry to make a good cornbread. If you have all the basics like cornmeal eggs and buttermilk then you can make any kind of cornbread. You may not have what I have in my refrigerator. But you do have something in your refrigerator that you can put in your cornbread. Check out this video and be creative and make your own bread. The most important thing to remember is to have a black skillet that's designated for cornbread only. That way the more you use it the less your cornbread will stick to the bottom which is a good thing. OK oh no Nick sent it back to Era

I like to add green chilies to my cornbread.Its so good.
I have a jalapeno cornbread recipe I swear by.. it's the best I've ever had but, you have me wanting to try your recipe. It's fairly close to mine but I don't use roasted red peppers and instead of kernal corn, I use a can of creamed corn. I'm definitely going to try your recipe.
Brenda when you take it out of the oven let it set for about 5 minutes then take it out of your skillet. Also when making Cakes same thing but for 10 minutes ,and don't forget to grease it and lightly flour your pans. It will release because it shrinks from the sides and should pop out easily. I used to be a baker also my mom used to use to make rounds of wax paper but you still need to grease and flour the pans
hi brenda, i just got my same cornmeal white lily, and i made that fried Ho cake, with low fat butter milks, didnt have the whole buttermilk, so i got the low fat one, but i cooked it exactly as you, and it was super good with my bacon wrapped boneless skinless chicken thighs.

I can trace my cornbread pan back five generations, but I'm sure it's much older than that.
My Mom did the same thing as your mother in law. Knives always under the cornbread.

When I make Mexican corn bread I use creamed corn as part of the liquid.
I make lists and then forget them at the house😂
