Bales move to Madrid was another case of “In the right place, at the right time.”
The Spanish giants already had a very strong team. I mean when you play in a league where pep guardiolas Barcelona exists you have to maintain the same pace.
Bales 12/13 season was magic. The man was quit literally unstoppable. When he joined Madrid he maintained the same level. Creating one of the best partnerships in football with Benz and CR7.
Winning the Champions League sealed his passage onto Elite level stardom.
It’s unfortunate the way he has been treated by not only Madrid fans but the Spanish media as well especially in recent years.
His decline has been one of the hardest to watch. Real Madrid have seen many players come and go throughout the years. Very few have been as influential as Bale was. Like it or not, Bale is a club legend.

    • @FootballIconic

Great comment. His body just seemed to let him down in recent years at Madrid and he obviously has been losing motivation (no thanks to the media/ ultras etc). As soon as I saw Madrid fans boo Ronaldo I knew that no one was safe haha

Bale was a different animal on his final year on his first spell at Spurs. Scoring goals for fun and changing the goal by himself. Joined Madrid and helped them to win La Decima. Too bad some of the Madrid fans and the Spanish media vilified him and he's decline was brutal to watch.

I agree he was most electrifying and focal in 2012/13. However outside of the nostalgia for 1st spurs stint, I think he was a more sophisticated player in late 2015/16 real Madrid/Wales and early 2016/17 for Madrid.
Injuries cut him short on his form but he was honestly the best player in his teams at that point. To accomplish that at real Madrid (see his 2016 champions league final performance vs Atletico) and be the talisman of a Wales run to the Semi-finals of Euro '16 is something that will get lost in the controversy of his poor Spanish PR.

It's unbelievable that he played most of football at Left Back. ..Redknapp pushing him forward was great ..I always say while Bale started in defence , Messi had similar drug to Lance Armstrong to help him grow . Not saying Bale better , but without growth enhancements, and Bale played from childhood in an attacking position ?? ..he brought a new dimension to football he had pace , could dribble , Shoot , score , pass , and head a ball ...Ronaldo could , apart from passing lol..Maradona is worlds best ever in my opinion though..with Wales and last season at Spurs he was given a free role , which he excelled ...When he went to Madrid he was always played on the right , as CR7 preferred to cut in from left , again was new to him and I think Madrid missed the best of him , when on left his creating of goals was phenomenal..and he had such an accurate left foot. ..but he did well at Madrid , but they were never keen on his patriotism , even when came to friendlies, I applaud him 4 that , all players should want to do same , not pick and choose 😊

He scored in basically every important match, from the Copa Del Rey Finale against Barcelona to the CL Finale against Liverpool. And he won every major trophy in Madrid. People in my opinion view his career in Real way too negative. The only reason I think it was bad was because it severly weakened Tottenham. With Bale in his prime they might have won every major trophy themselves.

Real would have fared good even without him. And Erksen would have been a perfect replacement for Modric. I guess he should have stayed, unless his sole goal was to make money then he was right to leave, there's nothing to steal from Levy.
