    The Backup has always been ( for over a decade) a light designed for law enforcement, hence the tactical interface. Hi/low. As a matter of fact any tactical light in their line up is designed this way..it's a must.
    If you prefer the low on first then the EDCL1-T and EDCL2-T are the lights for you.
    As far as the Max Vision Optic, it was designed as a room sweeper for the Military/Law enforcement . It's an incredible wall of light. I call it the modern day L4 Digital Lumamax.
    This Optic is available in many lights, the G2X-MV, G2Z Combat light, Your E1B-MV Backup and my E2T-MV Tactician.
    I decided on the Tactician because the interface is perfect for me and the output is insane.
    Comparing this floody beam to an old school TIR Surefire seems like comparing apples to green oranges. Surefire's modern TIR optics are a balance of throw and flood. Pick up their latest Defender with the latest TIR..You'll love it!

      You nailed it! I love their lights and don’t fault them for their design. I just am learning my preference and since I’m not room clearing then I prefer a slightly different optic and intervase.

      @@johncacey Fair enough, I think you would like the gas pedal tail cap on the EDC1 and the 2. light press for low and mash it down for high..twist for constant high. I would get the 1200 lumen double cell version. I returned my single cell one because although I loved the size the tint was too green for me.

      @@louie4316 Thanks! I was looking at the 1 cell for size but will have to keep the tint in mind.

      @@johncacey I have a custom MV backup… it’s low med high and double tap turbo 😊
      It’s modded with a h17f and has a Carclo optic. Basically a floody throwy beam. You can set it up indoor outdoor and it be the light for you.

    Recently I bought an EDC1-DFT, it's pretty cool at 650 lumens and 95000 candela, rechargeable as well. Still high first, low second, so I always have to point it against my body and switch mode if I wanted low without binding myself.
    It's a lightsabre!

    • @johncacey
      @johncacey  Před 7 měsíci

      I have looked at that light. It's like surefire is getting so close to making the ultimate light. It's slightly larger than I prefer but not bad. If they had put the gas pedal tail cap on that light, it might just do it.

    @jonathancaldentey4615 Před 22 dny +1

    Been eyeing this light for so long now but never pulled the trigger. I have to agree with you 100% on this one. Low should be closer to 15 lumens with max vision. 5 doesn’t seem to useful, at least not with a floody beam. And I know it’s “Tactical” and all but come on, you’re not doing much with 1800 candela on high. I feel like this should at least come with a lo/hi configuration. And have a LE (Law Enforcement) variant with the hi/lo for those who want it.

    • @johncacey
      @johncacey  Před 21 dnem

      Very good points. I would say it still serves a "tactical" role if it's in an indoor room clearing type situation. I think compared to a light with say 100k candela you will find the MV more useful in close quarter situations. Same situation the Tactician was designed for. Outside its very very lacking :)

    I recently switched to cloud defensive HC. Its all about candela and allot of distance.. for allot of EDC stuff I carry the cloud defensive chicro. Same size as the microstream.

    I switched to Cloud Defensive , their MCH 2.0 and Duty lights are fully programmable and easily changed , so you pick the output you want and in which order. SureFire is top notch and deservedly so but I’ve switched to Cloud Defensive and it’s unlikely I’ll look back

      Thats cool, I have heard about them, also heard the MOD lights advertised outputs are more accurate the Cloud Defense. I have to personally tried either. I am a fan of Malkoff also.

    The battery life on mine is abhorrent. Constantly dying on me way more than any other light I have used. Also hate it doesnt come with a battery indicator like most modern lights do.

    • @johncacey
      @johncacey  Před 7 měsíci

      Interesting, that's the first time I've heard someone have battery life issues like that. they are definitely not filled with the more modern conveniences of nowadays lights, but they are still good lights nonetheless.
