    Awesome video, AmigaLove. Love the Amiga and always stick to KS1.3. These days Ive got many Arduino based projects on the go and for some nostalgic reason I usually connect them to my A500 and use Ncomm or my own programs written in Blitz Basic to communicate with them over RS232. I love using Workbench 1.3 for the user interface and windows, buttons etc to talk to my gadgets.

      Thank you SO much, Aron! So cool to hear about your setup and user flow. Blitz Basic is something I would love to learn to dabble in some day. Would love to see your stuff!

      @@AmigaLove Absolutely. Was quite a bit of playing around getting Blitz to run well under WB1.3 but runs quite well now it's all set up.

    Fun stuff! There are some fairly useful Palm sync programs for the Amiga - I have transferred some data between my Handspring Visor and my Amiga via USB, although serial works great too.
    100% agree about the Magazines. Amazing Computing and AmigaWorld were just incredible resources that took the Amiga seriously. With these I read all about DCTV, AmigaVision and other professional applocations. I would get a few mags imported from Europe and they would teach me how to beat level two at Batman. Just made for a totally different audience.

      Hah!! "level two at Batman" made me LOL to where my wife rose an eyebrow with that look, "Are you OK?" Thanks for checking it out, Doug!

    Finally had chance to sit and watch this video! Got half-way through it before switching over to eBay and some other potential spots looking for that BASIC IC Card... Spent an hour, then got back to the video. The next sentence was how they're hard as hell to find... Yes. I agree now, lol. I'll keep an eye out for you though! Thank you, Mr. Choate and Crispy for helping unlock another achievement on the "Still usable in 2022" software archives!

    • @AmigaLove
      @AmigaLove  Před rokem

      Hah! That's awesome. Yeah man, I've been looking for that BASIC card for a long time. I'll see one pop up every now and then - in a package deal - with a Wizard I don't need. And they'll be asking crazy money for it.
      But here's my dream: I type up a BASIC program in TurboText, which (a lot of people don't know) has a copy/paste function. Then I copy/paste my program into the terminal window, which downloads it to the wizard. Then I run it over there.
      No idea if that would work or not, but that's the shiny object dream I want to try out some day. Not sure what kind of BASIC the IC card even uses so it would probably run into some syntax issues unless I kept things really...*cough*...basic.
      Good to see you here, Dane!

    This is really neat! The project embodies the kind of stuff I would try to get my C64 to do in the 90s -- stringing together a series of program outputs from different platforms so I can convert to a C64 compatible file format. I like that someone figured out that the Wizard will capture and save data from a terminal/BBS session to a "document" for future editing, and then made the connection to connecting an Amiga to it via a cable. The magic is in that modem/serial cable -- we could totally do this on a C64 with an appropriate cable too!
    On a side note, what game animates Data learning to tap-dance? I can't get that image out of my head! ("Thank you doctor. I am now prepared to dance at the wedding.")

    • @AmigaLove

    Here, I do the same with a Psion 5 (or 5MX, or with an Ericsson MC128, an official clone), but I can use the Compact Flash for transferring files (even on MorphOS) 😉 I use it for writing long text, help by the great tiny mechanical keyboard.
