From the synopsis and the intro of the drama, we can tell already that Xiao Lan Hua is not just a fairy. Her having access to that kind of stuff is because of her master and because her heart is probably the most pure and kind in all the three realms (so her master, who probably knows her true nature, trusted her with her stuff), flowers and plants listen to her and since the fate books are leafs, that is what she happened to do as an apprentice.
The swapping isn't a recurrent thing, so if people dislike body-swapping dramas, just know that this is not one of those. It happened so far just two times and it lasted for around only one episode for both.
Apart from that, those times are really entertaining and also serve as a plot device for things that happen in the other episodes (the chemistry between the main leads is amazing and the dialogues flow really naturally). The drama is refreshing and kind of a guilty pleasure, because it has some unexpected moments and different dynamic between the mains, but if it falls into clichès, they're always performed and scripted masterfully, so no dull moment and you're probably gonna find yourself craving for more.
I'm not a fan of the head accessorizes of the gods in Shuiyuntian either, but I love Dongfang Qingcang's, because it gives him a scary aura and it also fits the Moon tribe concept...but that's gonna appear in the second episode.
Also he's gonna lose the white hair in the second episode.
I hope this was useful for those who want to start watching.

First ep was great and all that, but Li Yi Tong's cameo as a parody of Bai Qian- with an an obvious drinking problem, just takes the cake! xD xD
Now I know why the fairy's teacher looks so familiar, it's Li Yitong!
This is actually the first Xianxia drama where I don't suffer from second male lead syndrome. I'm grateful for that XD

I don't know...I don't like Changheng that much, he might look and sound perfect, but it's more of a superficial thing.
He's kinda selfish if you think about it and can act even more highty than DFQC, who at least is strightforward with it (he only cares about XLH, he wanted to destroy her body just because DFQC was in it, he erased her memory and I still can't understand the reason other than him not wanting to be recognized by her, he was inconsiderate towards Danying saying that nobody has ever loved a person how he loves XLH when he literally has a person in front of him who loves him so much, he always sways between responsibilties and XLH, despite him always pushing and pulling with her).
He lacks character depth and doesn't seem to serve an actual purpose in the plot other than to create more drama.
One other thing, but this is something personal... I prefer more complex characters rather than Mr.Rights or white nights and this time around, the main lead (at least in the drama) isn't a total a**h*le. He actually has integrity, he makes sense and he doesn't treat the female lead like a mop.
This was a lot, but it's honestly what I think.

@@quippequest Yeah exactly, "inner" is the perfect definition for it, but until these recent episodes (that by the way I just watched and literally revolutioned everything, because SO MUCH happened) he's never had an influence on the major plot, other than him swooning for the female lead and making reckless (and useless) decisions for her, when he never even tried to have an conversation with her like a normal person would do.
The last two episodes made me change idea a little bit, because he's finally stepping up and acting like an individual (mostly to protect the female lead, but I like he's realizing the hypocrisy of the people in Shuiyuntian and I appreciate the versatility of the actor and all the personalities he's playing).
What I didn't like, is that for a long time he's been the guy who looks at the female lead from afar and the guy that people crush on because of his reputation and looks, even if he's not what he seems (reminds me of a bunch of other characters I've seen in Cdramas or even anime). I've never been attracted to that kind of person, but maybe these next episodes are gonna make me change idea.
Also, the drama isn't like the novel, so that is probably the reason why a lot of the viewers can't figure out how things are gonna play out.
Everything is unexpected so I wanted to understand why some people think we're gonna like second lead more in the future, when I heard he didn't exist in the novel and we can't possibly know the content of the future episodes.
Oh, and if you who are reading this comment have read the novel and want to reply, no spoilers please, because I wanna read it when the drama ends🙏🏼
I'm literally obsessed with this drama right now. The sets are gorgeous and don't even get me started on the costumes. So aesthetically pleasing and bro...THE INTRO. WATCH THE INTRO LMFAO IT SLAPS AND IT'S STUNNING.
I have an eye for beauty (which probably says a lot about my character T>T) so this drama is perfect for me. The story itself is so appealing as well I genuinely can't turn off my TV.

I loved the look on the cartoon face when you were talking about the 2nd lead. And yeah, this one is pretty okay. I'd say also take a look at the Chinese animation. The characters are far more hilarious than they are here.
The cartoon is some sort of heart mending and soothing after watching real live action version
Nice worlds, good CGI, well desing (or at least different) costums, not ice faced sky lead, demon lead, kiss-body swaps, not love at first sight (at least for 10 eps.), Beauty and the Beast vibes sometimes, beautiful hair wigs and... wait!!! 36 eps. 35 to 40 minutes each??? OMG is this a new air for xenxia?? Or at least a little piece of a better way to do things?.... This ship has sail....
The short episode duration is such a great bonus XD

OMG, I am surprisingly obsessed with this. It is not exactly my genre, and the first episode made me think it is a nice distraction that I will forget to watch the next day. But I got stuck on it and now at EP 18 I am invested like I haven't been since watching Lost Romance in 2020.
The headpieces get worse though.
I totally recommend to watch it. I just finished watching episode 19 and I'm loving it.
I am absolutely loving this drama, please give it a go, you won't be disappointed. I am watching this on Netflix and am currently on episode 10.

After watching LBFAD, I can say that from the production to how each cast portrayed their character, this drama has set the standard for xianxia dramas. We finally have a well made cgi and that's just a bonus, because I have seen the same formula of xianxia dramas through the years. This drama is unexpectedly good
I have to say one thing about the video: I cannot be convinced that whatever the General dude is wearing when meeting the FL is armour and not stylized plastic/resin because my face instinctively scrunched up when we got to the gift-giving section of your review (not your fault, I was just going "What the hell?" when I saw the eyesore).

You know that thing where they pour plaster down into an anthill and then wait for it to dry and then bring it back up and paint it like metal -- that's the hairpiece that I see happening here. "How do we make a hairpiece so surprising that it will remind us of the power of the sun?" "I know, let's kill a bunch of ants, paint the resulting corpses gold, and put it on his head!" Good idea.

I really do like Chinese drama and when you point out some of the ridiculousness of the dramas, it's feel like i am not the only one. i mean these dramas are for real.

Well I have to agree, that graphic and animation are in very good quality. The production is also very good but that's all it has in the pro column.
And the FL trying to act like a five year just to show how innocent is she, is reather boring. So far i have only watched 10 episode and hoping for some interesting plots and acting.
LMAO you never know, maybe they never are able to switch their bodies back and "she" ends up dating the nice guy instead!

you can't expect a drama that needs to be pumped out in a few months up to a year to be on par with the cgi of a movie that's an hour and a half that takes over a year in post production, they used 13 companies which sped up the process and I'm sure they were able to get better cgi, because the leads' salaries didn't cost the majority of their budget
I actually thought it started a bit slow. I had to keep watching until halfway to be invested in the story. cinematography was great. acting was great. art direction was great. fighting scenes were mostly magic fights, which bored me to tears despite them being great visually. i know this is a xianxia, but my wuxia heart is showing here, I guess. what kept me going was the comedy. it was gold. I had moments where i had to paused the drama to laugh. overall, it's watchable. I would rate it higher than "ashes of love" but lower than "love and redemption."
Yes, agreed, there are flaws, but it's a good attempt overall. Comedy is great, especially between the guys :DD
I assume the second guy is ML because the first guy that appears and is nice is usually male second.

Honestly, I think it's just an ok drama, but I get why people are super excited about it and giving high ratings/praise, most fantasy dramas have been so bad lately that this almost feels like a breath of fresh air. I have to say, one thing that made it really hard for me to watch was Esther's overly childish voice, I know her voice sounds very child like, but she overdid it here. The acting is fine and this is the first time I'm actually enjoying Dylan's work (pls don't kill me but I think his acting skills have been pretty mediocre so far). Anyway, I hope it keeps getting better!
He is still not a gifted actor. He needs a good director
Yes, I agree. It's not "great" great, and nothing stands out yet in terms of acting, but it's worth a try because it looks like they did try a lot with world building and storyline. Looking forward to see what these new faces bring :D
