- This video has been a ton of fun to make, I've been wanting to make a "death highlight" video since I started playing the game but couldn't figure out a format I liked. JeremyHay on Twitch gave me this idea and it clicked immediately. I hope you enjoy the video, leave a comment below and let me know what you thought!

Main issue with the moles is that they are unpredictable. Sure, a horned lizard can stun lock you, but they can be predicted. Moles say “fuck patterns, I’m gonna randomly pop out of a wall when you least expect it and knock you into spikes”
@@bull1085 I don't suffer from moles that much,but they're annoying as hell.
They deal so much unexpected damage,but i always can compensate it with theirs bodys to get Kapala(Sometimes,only with moles and pet,i can get it in 1-2 if i am lucky)
Or just going straight for their death.
you see, I dont struggle with a lot of these. I just struggle with general incompetence in the most basic areas, like olmec, its great!

@@5izzy557 my problem is after I get to cosmic ocean and such, I end up rushing through things when I have to take it slow.

I usually only have a 75% chance of beating him on any given day. Olmec is a very stressful mid boss fight.
I only ever die to Olmec if I’m speedrunning

xd i was there once and one of the robots deflected my shotgun bullets right back to me (beware of using weapons against the robots once you reach it lol)

Sometimes I’ll beat the game a couple times a day and sometimes I’ll never make it past 1-1
I like that the last two were essentially, "sometimes its just bullshit"

Don't forget to check bushes in the jungle and tide pool, if your not careful you could die to a bear trap that is on top of a bush

Oh my god until now I literally hadn’t beaten Tiamat but I just started trying to recognise my mistakes while playing and I literally got to 6-3 on my way to Tiamat with qilin after 5 ish runs. Trying to recognise what your doing wrong is so helpful. Thank you
I got to 6-2, had a torch a spark lit it, I bounced on those brain guys, guess what they are flammable, BOOM (Oh was wearing a JetPack)

I mostly die in Dwelling. When I make past it I always go really far. Dwelling is the hardest area in the game, change my mind ;=;
honestly i agree, i always die from spikes, lizards, moles and loads of more enemies
Agreed! Plenty of awkward enemies that have alot of coverage and non linear movement (moles, bats, lizards) and then a good amount of insta death spikes to add some spice 😭
Imma go with cosmic ocean because it gives dwelling but with the jellyfish

Tip for the jungle: Don't be afraid to flout down onto spikes if you have a cape. It can be safer on the spikes then trying to jump over it on vines, especially if there's bramble above

Just made it to cosmic ocean my first time last night hundun blew up my jet pack so my mobility was completely shot, didnt even get past 7-5 but still feels good to get that far at least

Hey Xanagear! I honestly have been binging your videos recently as I have made it to the sunken city for the first time recently and have wanted to learn how to get there more consistently. How a lot of my runs work is that I rarely make it to the 3rd area, and when I do, I rarely die, but this doesn’t come without countless dwelling and volcano deaths. I was wondering if you had any tips for improving your consistency in these beginning areas. Sure the runs aren’t long and so you don’t lose much time, but they sure as hell are demoralizing and make me want to stop playing after a series of 10 deaths in the dwelling. Thanks!

Great video! I think avoiding deaths is different for everyone, so if you die a lot to something, find a way to eliminate it from the run.
I always die to the druids when trying to skip olmec, so I don't save them anymore
Another funny/unexpected death: Do not try to telefrag the Mech Riders. I am totally not a teleporter player, because it is suicide anyway most of the times, but once I gave it a try I thought it would be fun to telefrag the mech rider => it instantly exploded which was killing me as well :D

can you share some tips for the Tiamat route? CO looks fun but I can't pass Ice caves.
I remember doing a ankh skip I did it successfully but a hoppy jangshi jumped on top me

me exploring dwelling: dying on 1-3 from some moles and horned lizards

I struggle getting near the last orb, and then something falling on me like a cursed cat or after popping the orb a yeti

Something that's good to keep in mind is that you can't yoshi hop off of a mount with a telipack on, you will just teliport instead.
Could do a guide on how to easily beat hundun?
3:15 they also deflect orange frogs if you throw them. I... Learned that the hard way with 22 health and got blown up into a corner with another orange frog
I feel pretty comfortable with my skill level now in Spelunky 2, I have killed Hundun twice and have made a fair bit of progress into Cosmic Ocean (I think 7-17 is great for a first try) but I still cant for the life of me get the Ushabti without a little bit of suffering!

more one that I learn in neobabalon if it's a dark level you must ALWAYS see for ELEVATORS before you go (I died with one elevators one going up and one going down when I go to the elevator going up...

cosmic ocean is basically the normal game but 99 levels which are huge and weird so yes, there are damsels and shrines
edit: nevermind, guess I don't know much about cosmic ocean but there are ways to get more health in cosmic ocean somehow using relics i guess

Dude that happened to me in volcana, I threw a bomb with pitchers mit to a shopkeeper blocking the exit and it literally came back at me and blew me up
SNAPTRAPS. Those damn things are sometimes hidden by ferns or plants in the foreground. In levels that contain them, make sure to SCAN YOUR SURROUNDINGS.
i have an example of a death i can't learn from, from spelunky hd. i entered the temple and instantly got telefragged by a crocman so fast i wouldn't have been able to get out of the way.

In my experience, the difference between people who get frustrated with Spelunky and those who enjoy it is mostly down to a willingness to learn from every death.

I looked up "tips for beginners" and this came up, I haven't even beat the second jungle level. Like how tf am I supposed to kill witch doctor. I've never even heard of a olmalite.

if you're going for the world 7 ending volcana is easier even if you have a pack on your back and you get vlads cape
I honestly don’t run into these issues, but I do see how dangerous they can be if you don’t expect them.
Also I now hate frogs they are the worst and if it wasn’t for Kapala+Vlad’s Cape, I probably would have died before reaching Hundun. Real life frogs are still babey.

@@lizmutton1848 I never played the 1st one... coming in from a new players perspective. Although I have heard Spelunky HD soundtrack, it's so much better it's not even funny. I don't know I have felt Even that one I mention above that it's so harsh I won't forget that mechanic, so it's forcing me to really pay attention, the thing is humans can only focus on so much, that's when you owned by the game.

A jelly spawns after you've spent 3 minutes in a cosmic ocean level. It replaces the usual ghost.

Spelunky 2 is the game where bullshit happens and you can usually avoid it if you're paying attention. But sometimes it's still bullshit.

They are only "near hidden" because we are human n can only focus/concentrate on so many things.

I'm just asking, I was just playing and in olmec 2nd phase he randomly dropped on me and crushed me, then my ps4 didn't let me save a clip to look for what happened. Any idea?
his hovering things were set to 1 hp on the latest patch so maybe you accidentally whipped them or his bombs broke them
@@dallama2616 from memeory his bombs launched away and i was holding a shotgun so I'm pretty sure it is neither of those, although now that i think about it a rock might've got launched by a bomb which could've destroyed his throusters if they have 1 hp now
99% of the time I die because of shopkeepers because I steal from every shop

@@dallama2616 World 2 both lava and forest are really unfair, really the worst areas in the game in my opinion
@@TheDominitribear traps and lava are the only instakills to my knowledge in those areas. Lava is big and obvious just jump over it or blow it up. bear traps have gold as bait so that you can notice them easily . Just keep a watch for them

I must admit. Having solutions to extremely common problems be basically exploits in the game logic, kinda makes me think spelunky 2 is a little too bullshit.

the problem is that spelunky has this garbage movement system
unlike in binding of izaac the character moves always with 100% speed
