Great tips! I find that my biggest problem is anything that can kill me instantly - bear traps, lava, and those stupid coral spikes in tide pool that my brain just doesn't register as spikes...
same! for some reason i always think they’re part of the background
I swear to god whenever I get a good run start like a kapala or a jet pack my brain sabotages me by making me magnetically drawn to a bear trap or lava
First time I made it to tidepool I died to those spikes on a dark level
Thank you for bringing attention to the backwhip. None of the content creators I watch ever do it and it drives me nuts when I see them take dumb damage by trying an awkward front whip because they don’t know how good backwhip is.
getting 99hp is just a novelty honestly, after you get more than 15, the only way youre gonna die is an insta kill
or an unfortunate playdate with one of the packs
Yeah, around 25 HP is really helpful especially with a pack.
in the last game 99+ HP was a thing. I wonder if surviving spikes is still a thing to do.
A lot of HP is useful in attempting world 7 without the mount.
When you fail a timing, with enough health you may be able to wake up and have another attempt.
having 99HP can actually matter when getting poisoned in cosmic ocean, sure it's quite rare dying of poison in there but still
Or getting thrown repeatedly into a wall by a yeti, chipping 1 health at a time. Talk about an ugly way to go.
You're dropping that Blood Farm thing like it's common knowledge that vampires heal from blood drops.

Amazing video as always. Thank you. I always do that stealing from the shopkeeper trick but usually it’s to grab the shotgun. Guess it’s time to rip off the bandaid and get good with the whip.

Also, with the shopkeeper tob, what i do is use a rope,the immeditaley look down and grab the shotgun, that way i also have a weapon.

About backwhipping, it's also better than front whipping because it's way faster reaction than front whipping.

I had no idea the mother statue gives you health
When doing the easy theft stategy you can just steal the shotgun and run away with it, that's what i do before being forgiven 2 floors later

Why do you need 2 steps for Tiamat? And not placing 4 bombs for example?
4 bombs isn't consistent, though top times will require it.
Wait wait, the vampire thing, does this work with something else except the slave man?
Yes, it works with other things than just hired hands,. It is most effective with a boomerang (which is pretty rare to get in Volcana).

@@yeahletsgo4113 The whip would work, but it would be more difficult to do this with since you can't hurt enemies while they're stunned. You would need to time it so that you whip as soon as the vampires wake up, which would make the process take longer than just throwing a body or boomerang.

An extra tip when you are robbing the shopkeeper, if you use a rope over his body, and quickly run in a straight line to the other side, if you are fast enough, the shopkeeper WILL NOT grab his shotgun and he will start chasing you instead, you can easily jump over his head, and grab the shotgun, and then you can jump again over his head and that's it, you get a free shotgun without damaging the shopkeeper. Now, this kind of things works when the shopkeeper is in the last tile of the shop, meaning, where he usually stands.
i generally rope him, throw his body, grab the shotgun, jump on his head, grab all the items and run. although im not sure if the rope counts as the player doing damage to him, but the stomp definitely does
@@Korockinglife From what i gathered, you can basically damage the shopkeeper all you want the first time you encounter him. As long as you don't kill him, he will forgive you in the next levels, you can steal all you want and hurt him until he has 1 hp. In the second level tho, you must not hurt him in any way, because this will result on him not forgiving you. Sometimes, stealing more items, stealing his personal gold or his shotgun will also trigger this behaviour. Basically, you must steal his shotgun and hurt him the first time you fight him, after that, just chill out and he will forgive you 2 levels later. I'm unaware if you can use this method again after he forgives you.

Does anyone have any advice for doing the key run for the ice caves shortcut? I'm not great at the game

The main things I could think of would be to keep an eye out for crates which can have items, especially to help with mobility. Along those same lines, collect lots of money so you can buy items you might want to help you traverse levels while juggling the key and anything else you may temporarily carry, like a pet. For those tougher shortcut challenges, take it slow. Don’t treat it like a normally paced run. Since you have to carry a single item and probably juggle it with other things temporarily, you have to be cognizant of the timer, but 3 minutes is usually more than enough to get to the end so just take your time and protect the key! You can throw it to kill enemies or activate arrow traps, just never throw it near anything that could destroy it like lava, spike ball traps, or spike pits you can’t reach without having to use your ropes or bombs. Huge fan of both Spelunky and Spelunky 2. I specifically went out of my way to avoid any spoilers or even images of the game until it came out.
After continuing to have difficulty making it past the 2nd world (I should make note I 100% completed the first game, and nearly 500 hours into it) I figured I’d look at some more advanced techniques that may have been added and I over looked.
The very first frame of in game footage of this video spoiled what looks to be end game content. It’s clearly my fault for breaking my own rule and looking it up but I just wanted to mention that.

You can damage the shopkeeper all you want when you steal from him just dont kill him
You should have credited 알송의 게임기록실 (Al-song I think) for the vampire blood thing, also you may want to mention the Olmec Ankh skip
I can't trace the Vampire blood farm to a specific streamer or content creator unfortunately, I think I learned it from TTF who learned it from someone else who probably learned it from someone else.
I play a lawful no sacrifice splunker so some of this does not help me however the tips are still gold.

No I meant paste, spike shoes are only totally safe when one head has already been killed with bombs or a shotgun.

He said it was the most basic trick in the video, and he explained that he still saw people not utilizing it. I think it is good to include, because it is a trick that a lot of people are still missing out on.
