This has been asked a lot so thought I would address it: you do NOT have to use others' layouts when planning your city or production lines. Personally, I prefer to design them myself. I added them to the video because many people are not aware of the extensive and helpful wiki! What's most important is that you enjoy playing the way YOU want to! Have fun!
Then why didn't you put the links to the Wiki? Would be much easier to support if you put the links. Thanks in advance and thank you for the great video. Loved it.
also usefull when you're low on space the charcoal burner and lumberjacks can be build with overlapping working areas and stil get 100% efficiency
8:08 hot damn. Been playing for 50hours+ already but never noticed the timer on the production and figuring out ratios from there. Really solid tip.
That indeed was a pro tip. Thanks!
then your fucking stupid

The best tip I can give is build in sets of 80 houses and max out their gold output. Settle as many islands early on as possible so you can rush to buy shares on your opponent's islands. Pick the most expensive share first. Over time this will boost your economy so fast.
If you upgrade your streets the range of the buildings increases too.
didn't know that
So expensive though :(
Todestelzer The more you know… thanks!
One of the best tips.
I've watched about a dozen of these guides for the game and yours is the best for quick-start and tips! Thank you!
Thanks so much Phil, I appreciate the kind words! :-)
I'm not surprised at the quality and usefulness of a KoS tutorial like this. This video was ALOT of help for me. Your recent video on anno inspired me to pick this up and it's great :D
Glad it helped! I hope you enjoy the game as much as I do! It's my absolute favorite of the Anno series!
I didn’t know about the wiki and I’ve been playing the game for a week now. Got it on Uplay and the table helps SO much. Thank you for this video!
Great guide! I like the balance of tips and video length. I learned a lot. Thank you!!
That was such a great and informative video! All the little thing i didn't know which make me love this game even more. Thanks again!
This kind of made me want to get the game :o Great little guide, you sound super professional when doing something like this!
Great tips, great voice, great video! Just testing this game during a "freeweekend" and I'm really liking it! Thanks for the guide!
I've got 26 hours in this so far and this video was still incredibly helpful. Thank you :)
The Where house tip is a good one. If you find you're in the red early game check your maintenance costs and the likely culprit are the upgraded wherehouses at $50 a piece
You provide fabulous tutorials! I’m new to pc gaming but you’ve taught me so much! Especially Factorio! Can’t wait to play this game when it goes live and watch your vids!
I love your videos, you are so good at presenting the game! I try to do something similar just a bit more scripted in shorter form, but I enjoy your pickup style!
baught the game yesterday, thanks for sharing this video. really helpful!
Great video! Alot of useful info! Never thought about checking wiki for layouts to min/max basically all I needed to know to make more efficient layouts thanks for the resource plug! Lol
thanks for the info really useful for people when starting the game, keep up the good work
Great video, answered all the questions I had about Anno 1800, subbed.
I just recently bought it on the Ubisoft store, I got to say it's super amazing and thank you for these tips and tricks!:)
I decided to get it on epic store since I hate the ubisoft store. Now I hate both of them. Anno 1800 is great so far though, can't wait to play with my buddies once I can convince them to cough up the 60 euros to buy it :)
Very nice guide, thank you very much and I hope you continue enjoying the game
Thank you so much for explaining every think i need to know. before i was watching this video i was clueless will playing Anno 1800 as i have never played any Anno games. hope you make more videos of anno 1800
This randomly came up in my recommendations. I mostly know all of these by now (120 hours in) but damn this is a really really good video. Wish I saw this when I first started.
Thanks so much Quel!
I found this very useful, thank you. I probably won't use the layouts, but the information about ratios especially helps a lot.
I agree. The calculator is something I might use, but preset layouts kinda ruin the purpose of the game imo...
great info for the starters indeed, looking forward to the release tomorrow, going back to the roots!
thank you SO much, have been enjoying the game on my own but getting frustrated, there isn't a proper tutorial so it's been hard for me to work it all out. You've explained, very quickly, a lot of things I didn't know. Very helpful :D
Thanks for the kind words Yvonne! Glad the video was helpful!
Very informative and straight to the point earned a like and sub!!
Love ya work, you always seem to have the information for the games I choose to play.
Glad to help!
Legit informative and useful guide, thank you for the pro work.
Just found your channel and have to say, awesome work, keep it up!
Thank you so much Nick! Enjoy the content!
okay this is 2 games I play your making vids for so I've sub'd up
keep it up
Finally a good Anno guide! Thank you!!!
Very useful guide for anybody new to Anno 1800, thank you.
Awesome tips thank you! This is my first ANNO game and I'm already doing MUCH better on my first island thanks to your tips. I've moved a bunch of stuff around and reorganized and I'm making money again and started a new island for farming and farmers. Thanks!
Have fun!
@@KatherineOfSky I definitely am. I'm still in story but I took that starter island and I now control most islands in the area and I'm over 1.2 Million with a large income. Your tips really helped me get some things figured out and out of the red.
Very helpful
You managed to clear out some stuff in a simple way
tyvm
Keep up the great work... just bought this game today and came across your tutorial... thanks a bunch, because I am totally new to Anno
Enjoy the game! It's so much fun!
They should have hired you to make a tutorial. The game barely explains anything even when you have the "Extra Information" option enabled for your campaign. I got a much better understanding of how Anno 1800 works now. Thanks!
Thank you so much!
While I agree, this is my first Anno and I worked all of this out. It is all in an oft-ignored part of the game called "text" though. As a software developer myself, I do know better than to put instructions in "text" since people have to rely on unreliable legacy wetware to "read" :P
@@sethryclaus Wetware is the worst kind of ware
@@TheSystemaSystem Yeah if you want to ware something you don't want it to be wet
Ok ok, you convinced me. Bought the game through your link. Wish you all the best. More content soon please :)
Awesome stuff, needed this help as a new player. Been wanting this game for a while, downloading now and used your creator code ;)
Nice guide, worth a mention that stone roads will increase the distance your services reach
perfect take on how to start a masterpiece game! Thank you!
Nice video, this is the most relaxing game series ever for me, just love it :)
Thanks! Glad you're enjoying it!
Thank you for these tips! Loving this game...my first Anno 😁
You are just at the beginning of a glorious journey! Have fun! :D
You absolutely saved my game. I could not for the love of avocado, figure out the ratios and how to earn money. Thank you!
Thank you very much for this veryhelpful guide
Thanks for the info !
Excellent Tips :)
One small note about Over-Producing to sell for gold: don't get too carried away with it. You still have to pay maintenance cost even if the NPCs are not buying all your excess goods. I find the costs of having excess industry is usually more than the income you make from the goods, so I just go by "make just a little more than you use" with the bonus gold from selling excess being just a nice way to balance your production.
The exception of course being constructing Ships and selling them to the Crown Rep npc. Surprisingly lucrative, without a cap as far as I've seen.
Very well done! Nice video.
Thank you so much :D i didin't know about selling goods. i'm new at the series.
Great guide, thank you!
quick tips. don't over produce early game goods from farmers or workers to sell at your Wearhouse expect soap. with soap fill up a ship and sell it to the npc (can't remember name) with the prison island. he gives bonus money for soap. you can do the same with potatoes but the money isn't really worth it. later you can do the same with the artisan good fur coats which can be easy to over produce and be sold to the female npc island in the old world (not the pirate). Beer can also be sold later for a large profit to the pirates in both the old and new world once you get trade access with them. another tip is to find and settle any old world island that has potatoes, hops and wheat. these islands will have all you need to satisfy every need for both workers and farmer so you can cover the islands in massive worker cities that provide a decent profit and provide you with workforce and materials needed for the late game. for example: when you unlock engineers you'll get access to a type of pier that allows you to transfer workforce from one island to another so you don't have to keep adding farmer and worker houses to your main island.
Awesome guide!
Awesome tips! Thank you.
Amazing video and you seem like a very genuine person, so I give you a sub :)
Thanks Javi! Enjoy the content!
1 year later, but this is still the best quick start guide!
SO GOOD TO SEE YOU UNCLE
Great tips, great video.. :) Thank you!
Thank you Katteryne this was helpful furmee
Thank you so much for explaining ratio. Feel a but dumb haha but i looked everywhere, exept at the time ;)
Very nice starter guide.
this tips like, i playing anno 1404 again, didnt play 1800, but now ill look in to it
Wonderful video! I am finding the game so complex (and the built-in tutorials so sparse) I am asking myself if this was developed by Paradox Studios! Again, thank you.
Loving this game thank you
Solid tips thank you so much
Really damn helpful. Thank you!
Excellent video thanks
really nice tips for beginners thanks
this video is awesome wish i saw it much much earlier cos then i wouldn't have been scratching my head about restarting the campaign mode that was meant to teach u things.
Liked and shared so that more ppl can see it. Thank u for the great Vid.
Thanks so much Simon!
Awesome video!
Thank you!
Great video!
great guide
Thanks for the vid!
Great Video!
Thank you so much. I never knew the ratios
Thank you for this guide!!! Ahhhhh you saved me
You are my first female gamer that I decided to subscribe on, not to offend anyone but I don’t see many female creators in gaming area do well on introducing games. you give information concisely and in a clear manner. Most male creators provide energy in their speech but yours are calming and informative. This vid adds a lot on my gaming experience. Thanks for the vid and keep up the good work!
lovely guide, had no idea about the ratio 😅
I bought this game and played it on normal level for the first time yesterday. Game really needs a tutorial to explain all the options within the menus. Was going to ditch the game, but i'll give it another try after watching this. Thanks for the site suggestion 👍
I loved your video, helped me out a ton, because the game is not so intuitive!
You are amazing. Thanks for help :D
So helpful!
I played the open beta I am so glad to have an Anno game that feels like an Anno game.
really , an anno calculator . thank you soooo much I been thinking about it but was lazy to serch for it. hehe
used your ode keep up with the great vids
Thanks so much!
Strong disagree on 6:30, don't overproduce anything! Basically all items cost more to produce than you can sell them for, so with your tip, you're actually just burning money.
A few items (such as steel beams) actually are cheaper to buy from others than to produce yourself - and you don't pollute your island by buying it from others.
Besides that, great video for beginners.
Tilmann Giese it's ridiculous how cheap goods are and how good the sell price is on ships. Just build ships and sell for game breaking money.
That's coming off the back of about 10 hours of play
Year later is that still viable or have there been balance patches?
I was prepared to argue with you on this...thinking "my god, this can't be true! WHy would they design the game to have you producing goods at a loss?" but then I found this docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1_ceIThYBpAQbd2VvJtm3MPZG9-aR1LVWXjHZeHTsv9s/edit#gid=1101430916 and now I know why I am lucky to have 1k/minute profit...it's because I overproduce and sell the excess at a loss. That and I have a full steel beam/weapons production, and a good amount of pig farms/soap production operating at a loss. Seems kind of arbitrary and stupid, but I suppose they wanted to simulate how countries import goods from other countries because it is cheaper.
a good tip is buying staff for the trade union, i found a person that allowed you to skip the flour portion of making bread. So you simply turned gain into bread.
Yep, I'm always on the lookout for good employees.
Basically an Anno 1800 beginners guide and asmr video at the same time. Consider yourself subbed
awesome thx!
that's a helpful tip about the ratios
Nice Video 👍
Thanks for the video :) very good for new players. Btw the city layout you ve chosen i ve seen it too but it does not have Pubs... i will probably swap the police stations for pubs myself ;)
I noticed that. I can only assume it was a mistake on the planner's part. Easy enough to substitute though :-)
@@KatherineOfSky hehe yeap :) i never had protest on my main island anyway, never needes the police :)
The late game stuff is harder, electricity, bank and members club.
Good stuff
I used your epic creator tag :) ty for your content
Game pre-downloaded and now playing with Anno designer making efficient farms XD. Nearly as fun as playing the game haha
I wish I watched this earlier, thanks
Haha the same here.
NICE VIDEO
What seed did you play? I know the video is already 2 years old, but maybe you remember? Great explanation. I barely use the pro layouts. Only for some things like the wood production. I also like more the “real” looking cites but it’s good, to see other options. Thank you. Greetings from Austria 🇦🇹
I don't remember, sorrry.
I needed this. I failed the campaign before I made it to the New World. RIP. Is there anyway in-game to get a more detailed breakdown of what is costing you money? More than just the totals for 'Maintenance Cost' or 'Ship Upkeep', etc.
