    The best 2 tips any new player can ever be given is this.
    1. When starting your game and if your new then remove or replace the 2-star AI Beryl O'Mara with any other 1 or 2 star AI of your choice. Beryl O'Mara is definatly the hardest of the 2-star AI and while its not that hard to make her like u if your ontop of things. If u dont know how to do that she will definatly declare war on u and she is by far the hardest of the 2-star AI. I would recommend to just remove her and just play with Bente and Princess Qing when u try to learn the game.
    2. Dont build a steelworks chain when u get into the worker tier. At that point of the game that chain is EXTREMELY expensive in both its running costs and the amount of worker population needed to run it even with just 1 of each building in that chain. Instead once u reach the worker tier, Archibald Blake the fance guy working for the queen will start to sell u Steel beams at hes harbor and its a mutch better ide to buy them from him instead at this stage of the game. Now if u play campaign u have to build this steel beam chain but once u completed that u can pause or demolish the steel beam building saving u 200 in both income and workers. U may wanna keep the foundry becouse u need to make weapons for the combat ships the queen asks of u. After your done with those ships u can pause the rest of the buildings in that chain or keep building ships and selling them back to the queen for an extra income.

    • @twiglets2
      @twiglets2  Před 10 měsíci +2

      @Shiftry87 Thank you for the two pointers. I wish I knew them for my first playthrough as ultimately it was Beryl that ruined me and I recall thinking how expensive the steel production was early on! I'm sure others will find them very useful too.

    My biggest problem with this game is the complexity of keeping not only the economy going on one island, but keeping an eye on several of them.

      @twiglets2  Před 9 měsíci

      @muskiet8687 I too struggle with that. I tried to use the graphs that show you everything for all of your islands but that's still difficult to interpret! Any ideas on how they can improve it?

    • @zocratez4867
      @zocratez4867 Před 8 měsíci +3

      @@twiglets2 Well, I just picked this game up a few days ago so my problems might be pretty basic still, yet I think if there would be a working pause (as in "stop time") where you could have a look at all those sheets and stuff, that might help. To have the option to go "Alright, WTF is happening atm?" and to then pause the game but still see and have access to everything that's taking place at said moment must be amazing - especially if you're new to the game or certain stages of it. I found myself switching between normal speed and half speed most of the time, since I get already overwhelmed at the very early stages of the game. There might be mods that would do the trick, though?

      Shift Q opens the statistics tool, very easy to see what you are making (green) vs consumption (blue). If island B is making hops to send to a brewery on island A, you can ensure production needs are met with some simple maths. If you consume 6 hops farms worth at A but only have 3 hops farms at B you can make that change with notes from the production needs alone. It's a bit more for crossing the ocean.

So, I’ll be following you as you make more content in the format you just displayed. Currently, I’m at artisan/engineer with no influence points. Probably going to restart the game and auto-publish my newspaper to save influence points.

    I would love to see a video for veteran players for future road layouts for railroads, museums, zoo’s, and electrical so your city can grow into for late game. Also a video on how to reorganize your trade routes for late game when you get steam and oil. I see a lot of videos for early game but not many for late game.

Anno is literally a game I can start playing and 8 hours have passed and I have no idea where the time went. I love games like that!! I was not expecting to write an essey so i´m sorry if this is 2 long but its better to be more detailed then less i guess. Also if u have more questions i would strongely recommend u taking a look at a playlist called "anno 1800 ultimate guide" by a youtube channel called Taka. This guy is a very good source for information and in this playlist he goes through everything from game settings before starting to high lvl item specialization for super late game aswell as some DLC recommendations if u happen to not have any.
      The railroads is honestly always gonna be an issue becouse u gonna have to make room for a powerplant near the middle of your city so there isent really a good way to plan for it. However that powerplant in the city should never be your first powerplant and should only be build when thats the last need your ppl need before u wanna upgrade them. Your first powerplant should always be build relativly close to your oil harbor and make sure that u can build a steam shipyard in range of that powerplant so u can build oil tankers and then u should move every industry building that can be powered around that powerplant. When u start to reorganize is up to u but once u reached Engineers u should start to think about island specialisation as in if the island has alot of iron and coal mining sites it could be a very good industry island, if it has oil springs even better as u dont need to import oil but only the starter islands have that in the old world except for Cape Trelawney ofc. If u need more oil then an old world island can support u should look to the New World as that region is flooded with oil and exporting it from there should be your first choice. 1 powerplant requires a minimum of 3 oil springs to not run out of oil so if an island dont ahve 6 oil springs u can only keep 1 powerplant working at 100%. U should have the commuter pier unlocked now and while its expensive to run u should have a high enough income to support 2 of those but if u dont, try to raise your income with more upgraded houses or happiness goods but at this stage cash should not be an issue. This is how u support the workforce of your new industry island without building any houses on it. Becouse farms take up a huge amount of space u should also look into a decently sized island with alot of farming possability. Becouse farmers are so easy to maintain u dont really need a commuter pier here and u can just build the houses up in a corner somewhere and give them the basics they need build on that island. Now if u dont have the Bright Harvest DLC i strongly recommend u to get it as it makes farming SO MUTCH easier and with it u can place down a tractor shed on each crop farm which will 3x that farms production and cutting the workforce by 50%. Ofc these sheds need fuel from a fuel station so u need oil but it requires so little that its a none issue. 1 oil well = 1 fuel station = 20 tractor sheds. The ide of this whole island setup is that u can organize alot better what gets produced where aswell as getting all that pollution away from your main city island aswell as when u set this up depending on distance ofc u can also have 1 clipper or cargo ship transport multiple consumer goods from just 1 island over to your main island instead of having everything coming from everywhere into your main island. As your population goes up u gonna need more and less of different consumer goods so at some stage u gonna need so mutch of something like Coffee or Rum for example from the new world that u gonna need multiple ships on each trade route and if u transport both on the same it can be a better ide to just split them up into 2 new routes.
      For trade route organisation i dont think u need any DLC for this. In the trade route section u can create "folders" and put trade routes in them and the way i have my setup is region specific. So 1 folder is called OW = Old World and every trade route going on only in that region is in that folder. If i happen to export something for the Old World its in a folder called OW Export and the same goes for every other region aswell. U can make a folder just for trade routes going to the neutral traders if u have any and u can make 1 for Oil or just include those in the region specific folder. U may end up with quite a few folders depending on how specific u wanna be but its far better then having all of them in 1 giant list and u can name each route aswell to easier spot what it is.

    Another tip is before you stat to build any production building like a bric factory or pig farm, if you hover over the icon (brick for clay pit or brick factory for example) before building it will tell you the duration of time it takes to produce the goods. Sometimes it will take 1 minute to produce and then the next manufacture building it will take 30 seconds, so it takes 1 minute to dig the clay but 30 seconds to produce bricks; make sure you make 2 so that its balanced out to be a 1:1 ratio, that way you can produce more instead of waiting for one factory to create bricks

    Great guide, I knew all of them but didn't utilize the pause production enough. I usually have 2 problems:
    1. Balancing between farmers VS workers (once u upgrade, you're losing on farmer manpower and demand, but mostly manpower I feel).
    2. Avoiding or improving the process I go through when I have a demand for something. E.g, I need more beer, but it needs more wheat, but it needs more farmers, but they need more schnapps... how do you deal with that properly without getting into stress?

    I got so frustrated with this. You wave your mouse around like a maniac then say "Click here". However I have no idea where "here" is. You need to stop moving your mouse so much and so fast. You also need to describe the button or location you are clicking. I slowed the video down to a crawl but even that sometimes was not enough.
