If I had to choose a guitarist I'd say Herman Li. But I think they come as a package. Both guitarists have been there throughout even though a few other band members have changed over the years.
Sam is honestly the better live guitarist.
The chemistry between them is just an integral part of everything Dragonforce is at this point. From the albums to the live show to the Twitch stream

They are definitely a package deal they just feed off of each other

Herman Li is the shreding machine, on a technical level his playing is insane.
Sam Totmat is the mastermind, he's the main composer of all DragonForce songs.
Interesting. I see the majority of people say that DragonForce don't have any quality besides speed, but I like the composition of many songs, this included. One of my favorites is Symphony of The Night, quite different from things like Through The Fire and The Flames or Operation Ground and Pound.
DragonForce it's not a genius band (well, in technique they are), but it's fun to listen to.
@@JubaDeMetalAlumínio DragonForce sounds like that because is intended to, is not like they accidentaly added a little too much speed and effects to their music. Watch the videos of "DragonForce Write a song in 10 minutes" and you'll see the musical genius that Sam is.

And I love how all the reactors think that its only Herman Li in the first solo section. It's both and they just don't show Sam clearly during that soloing.

The band comes out of London, although several members are not British-born.
Seen them live and they are note perfect; amazing. There is a great video on YT of them playing on a cruise ship and Herman Lee plays one solo whilst underwater in the pool!

DragonForce are a British band - Herman Li and Sam Totman wrote the guitar arrangements and played in the studio recording for the album version of Babymetal's 'Road of Resistance' - and they played it live with Babymetal at an awards show in London in 2015 (not long after they had smuggled Babymetal into Download in the UK and invited them on stage to play 'Gimme Chocolate' with them after the organiser said they would never play there). There is a video of the awards show performance of 'Road of Resistance' on CZcams if you're interested.
There is a drum cover of 'Through the Fire and Flames' by Junna, a Japanese girl, on CZcams - and I think there is another of the DragonForce drummer reacting to her cover.
In my opinion I think Takayoshi Ohmura and a few other of the baby metal guitarists are on a way different level then DragonForce

DragonForce smuggled them in anyway and invited them on stage - they attracted a huge crowd as word had got out ... the next year they had their own set on the main stage and have been regulars ever since.
I seen a little girl named Junna, do a drum cover to this song. Amazing.
DragonForce was the last concert I saw before the pandemic. I’m so glad we went! I was able to take my son as his first medal concert for his 10th birthday (2019). They were amazing as always, and we were right up front at the little club they played in Reno- so they saw my son singing along with everything because he knows the words to all their songs. We waited around after and they gave my son signed drumsticks and the set list and we got a bunch of pictures. They were so cool with him!!!! They seem like genuinely nice guys.
On another note, I hope you listen to the studio version at some point. The music video cuts out a HUGE chunk of the song.
Sam is definitely my favorite. Not so technical but is super saucy and has top 10 rhythm grooves in power metal hands down
Herman Li is the GOAT. And this is a prime example of superior musicianship. Audible vocals and absolutely masterful instrumentation.
I saw them live in 2006 at ozzfest. They didnt miss a fuckin beat. Those dudes play just as accurate live its insane. As for a suggestion, revisit alestorm with Keelhauled :)

I mean....just the entire of every Alestorm album is amazing. They’re albums I can listen to from start to finish without skipping a song and I honestly can’t say that about many albums over my 37 years on this planet. Can probably name 5 or 6 more. At a generous guess, maybe 10. That’s it.
(except for Back Through Time and Curse of the Crystal Coconut)
But even saying that. Maybe I skip 3-4 songs over two albums?.

One of the most entertaining concerts I've ever been to. I remember they had an intermission solo where both guitar players, bass player, and the keyboardist(w/key-tar) all stood in a circle and played the neck of their instrument while simultaneously crossing arms over to play the bottom half of the instrument next to them. Absolutely mind blowing.
People used to complain they couldn't play their songs live. Not anymore. :-)

This is speed metal with power metal vocals. A lot of people assume power metal has to be fast because this song is their first introduction to the genre thanks to Guitar Hero. Power metal can be any tempo. Sabaton is power metal as well. I actually have a video series on my channel describing the different metal genres.
I remember first hearing this song on Guitar Hero III. Think of Slayer meeting speedy guitars and you got this band. I've been hooked on these guys since their third album Inhuman Rampage released back when I was in junior high. These guys still rock, even though they have a new singer now. This music video just shows how these guys' guitars can be tricked to give off their signature sounds and I love this band. 🤘🤘🤘

What a way to get the blood going on a Monday morning!! I don't look much like a metalhead (tbh, more like a recovering teeny bopper lmao), but I used to have some regular metalhead customers when I was bartending a few years back, and they made it their mission to play this song at least once every shift as soon as they found out I was already aware of DragonForce. Such good energy!!

I don't know if you guys have reacted to Tina - S because she covers this song in its entirety, on her guitar, because this song, originally, is around 8 minutes or so and she plays all of those solos you just saw and the ones you haven't heard and by the way, you can also see how that noise you hear when the screen goes blank before the solo battle starts is made (in this video as reference is the minute 8:02 ) but if you're not interested in that you should definitely hear her version from Ludwig Van Beethoven of "Moonlight Sonata" adapted to metal is just so unreal you'd never believe someone could actually do that but is there, and I believe she was only 16 by that time if I'm correct? thanks and just consider it.

Power metal is my favorite genre in metal. I don’t know all the bands in the world, but Dragonforce kicks ass, don’t listen to them driving, before you know it you’ll be driving 250 mph, j/k, because music like that, in that arrangement, non stop adrenaline from start to finish, especially that song, I’m surprised the guitars didn’t catch on fire, guitarist knocked it out the park, it’s crazy how melodic the singers voice was clear and high pitched over super fast music, it’s impressive.
You guys are just now reacting to this?!?! It took awhile, this is the kind of music that makes you sweaty after listening to it, seeing these guys live is like listening to one song that's an hour and a half long its magical

To be fair, the official video cuts out quite a bit of the overall song.
What you guys *should* do is watch someone play this song, in full, via Guitar Hero, on expert. While not the same as actually playing the guitar itself, just seeing the notes and frets fly by is *insane.* You’ll see how and why it’s the most difficult song to master in the series.
Need to do the full version. The video version cuts quite a bit out, including my favorite part.

For those who watched the dragonforce video and heard it for the first time need to know that for some reason 2 minutes of the solo is missing. You need to check out Persefone, the majestic of gaia. It's a badass song.

Thanks fella's for bringing back some awesome memories I had with a friend of mine while listening to this song.🤘 If you like this sort of face melting power metal, there are some other similar musical groups like, Animals as Leaders, Scale the Summit and Buckethead you'd want to get into.
Check out Shinedown. Been a fan of theirs for years. Their song, Enemies, shows what 3 musicians and 1 singer can do. Plus the video is of Brent, Zach, Eric and Barry fighting each other. Crazy video.
A Japanese young lady named , junna does a drum cover of this song , she is not but sunshine rainbows , mixed with talent , it’s well worth the watch, warning smiles will be all around
You mentioned Judas Priest going at their fastest. Painkiller instantly came to mind. Probably one of their fastest songs and the drummer earns his paycheck for certain.
You’ll have to put Takayoshi Ohmura in your 2010 guitarist. He’s the main guitarist for BABYMETAL and plays most of their songs with ease and has even wrote some amazing shred pieces himself.

This version of DragonForce is probably the most talented group of musicians in at least the last 20-30 years. They compliment each other on a god like level.
Check out The Aristocrats. They are three of the most skilled musicians ever, and yet seem to be most bonded by their shared sense of humour lol.
Their live shows give background to the silly reasons for their song titles and I would also highly recommend them😊
