Very well said !
They must not go with front first!
It depends on cars lol so as a car owner u should know ur car and the limits it can go through if uk u can't don't force it its simple
Common sense is not so common anymore 😄

I just love the contrast between them flying in there like Billy Big Bollocks and seconds later feebly sputtering to a stop 😂
lmao we call those people Billy Big Rigger in the states. Bollocks has a better ring to it.
It amazes me how many regular car drivers think it ok to drive into deep water!
it´s ok to drive into deep water but, your air intake must be higher than the water level or wave created. 90% of people would actually make it trough with regular cars and no modifications, they just need to drive extremely slowly in order no to create a wave.

@@DejvmanXsindicate No, it's not. The engine air intake is surprisingly low down on many cars.
@@thefreedomguyuk as far i am concerned only sports cars have air intakes in the wheel arches, regular cars should have it at the bonet level.

That did make me chuckle.

No
The filter will be fine... 🤣
🤣😃😄😅😆😪 yes of course it will
I mean the filter will be fine when it dries out yes, but all the water that’s gone down the air intake & hydro locked your engine won’t be fine.
It’s an n47 engine bmw it would go bang anyway 😂
A wise man once said "You want to go somewhere buy a Land Rover but if you want to come back buy a Land Cruser. "
Hi Tom, every time I buy another car one of the first things I do is lift the bonnet to see where the air intake actually is, the first time I found one where the inlet pipe is situated right down at the front of the engine I was quite shocked!, of course even the ones with it sited near the top of the radiator are still at risk from that sort of high wave, some people have wonderful brand new unused brains that have never been connected to the real world!.
Cheers, Richard.
Surely it's a simple matter to take a bit of A/C hose and extend the air intake up into the passenger compartment? That way you'll be getting soaked before you have to worry about breaking your motor.
In Germany nobody cares where the air intake of his road car is because there are no flooded roads. You just don't come into situations with deep water. Maybe thats the reason why especially cars from Germany and also France have these problems.
Agree , I’ve recently checked where the intakes are on my vehicles. Good to know if a you need to cross some water. No Splash 💦 is what you need to do 👍
@@ianhosier4042 Hi Ian, thank you, what a good idea!, it reminds me of many other sensible suggestion to make the driving experience more 'real', one of the best was the installation of a nine inch titanium spike in the centre of the steering wheel to make the driver more careful.
My current favourite is for all new cars to be fitted with effective tracking devices that enforce compliance with speed limits, I would like to see a system that is able to calculate average speeds and where a significant period of travel below the limit a certain amount of excess speed could be allowed when the road is clear!.
The other one is a simple reaction speed test at the beginning of all journeys that assess the driver's competence and limits speeds accordingly.
Cheers, Richard.
100% right, even with a high air intake you still have all sorts of electrical connections and cavities that won't appreciate being submerged in polluted water, absolute passport to corrosion and repair bills!
I wonder if the guy in the Jag regrets his number plate at this moment

Just goes to show how easy it is to break your engine though. A lot of the people that make it through are doing it on pure luck on the particular way the water swirls around their engine bay.
I agree, she did everything right, a real pity.
And the Volvos. Car designers these days must not take real world into account, what do people do in o5her country’s where shallow river crossings are more common?
there's a few i don't get how they broke.... the two volvos, the mazda and the blue nissan. They really shouldn't have broken down. Water was far enough away from the air intake. If they break at that speed through the ford they gotta break going 30-40 through a regular puddle as well....
like, even the beamer in the middle of the video survived...

The number plate on the black Jaguar should have read BIG DORK instead of B16 DRK.
I love the fails! Thank you so much for showing us them!
That first one has a very fitting private reg "BIG DORK"
Volvos really don’t like water. That V90 at 4:11 drove through the water quite slowly compared to the rest and it still managed to mess it up. Must have a very low air intake.
An old brick like a 740 would've made it 🤣
Hi Tom, nice instructive video. I would like to give advice to guys who drive German Mercedes or BMW cars. When you drive through deep puddles or streams, don't drive at high speed, drive very slowly. Because on many German cars the air intake system is located very low. You don't have to be heroic in front of the camera :)
Yes, it is designed that way to get cool air induction, years ago they just had pancake air filters which drew in warm air from the engine bay, less performance but more resilient to water intake. Like you say only option is drive VERY slowly and no deeper than about 2 foot max.
This seems to be the case with almost all cars from all brands.
Best

Wet
The pikeys making a getaway with the scrap was ace 🤣
These people can't have much upstairs to even consider driving through water that deep. Bet they regret it now.
the same ford at 3 feet of flooding (this is 1 foot) still gets LOADS of takers!
It's not even that deep 😂
Amazing how the drivers don’t get upset!
They will. Once they get the receipt.
They just don’t realize how bad it is.
Hope the second BMW convertible driver was an estate agent 😃👍
The Jaguar is an incredibly bold move. It's a wonder it's still running at all, let alone after driving it through a bloody river.
You can actually hear Big Drk’s Jags’s death rattle…
😂 I missed that the first time, now the block has an inspection window
I wondered if it was that or that undertray scraping on something?
Yeah rods are bent who knows whats more as it can f a crankshaft and punch a hole in block
The flood warnings signs are out for a reason. It really isn’t worth the bother or cost of a recovery service just to avoid congestion at the Ollerton roundabout.
All of the Volvos (V90 and V40) must have pretty low air intakes, as none of them were being driven through the ford at warp speed!
Not to mention the various plastic body parts that break off 🤣🤣🤣🤣
It seems that the more expensive cars are the more vulnerable.. BMWs seem to be the worst ..
Although now I have seen the Volvo I think they’re even worse
BMWs are quite low, well older ones like e39. My older Alfa Romeos (156 and 166) are very low.
They place the engine control module's on some of the volvos just behind the front bumpers....
Loved hearing the silver BMW hydrolock as Mr Flash gets caught out........lol!!!!!
This must have been so hilarious to watch on location! This is the third video I am watching and I can't stop laughing. 🤣
I’m really surprised at the silver Volvo - it went through at an OK pace
And the Mazda before it looked all good!
@@johnydnb Yeah why did the Mazda fail the test? Oh wait never mind I just googled the engine bay - air intake's down behind the radiator...
Was about to finalize conclude a purchase for a new CX-5 😑
It got through but the longer term damage to all components including brakes, transmission, electrical components and engine cannot be ruled out. Just putting the brakes on in deepish water can mess up the braking system.

number plates fell off mate
think that's the smallest issue hes going to face
I always think about the fact that most of the cars could have made it by just going a little bit slower.
Why do so many cars drive through it? The water depth is even shown on the yellow sign.
Love the one at 0.00, reg is BIG DORK !
All of them are nuts!
the number plate of the first BMW convertible read ALO. More like goodbye I reckon
All those bits at 5:28! 🤣🤣🤣🤣
Just a nice thorough cleaning and fixing the engine at the workshop and they're as good as new. 😁👍🏻
💙Could watch these all day 😅👍
Ahhh ..... so that's why some off roaders have "snorkels"
Yes and for areas with lots of dust. But even though I've got a Hilux with a snorkel and sealed air box I'd still not drive fast through any water and still nothing above the wheel in a flowing water situation. Wading techniques exist for good reason. It's also so the force of water doesn't push past bearing seals and flush out grease and also to protect any electrical connectors etc...
Can u put a counter in the top counter which keeps track of all the cars that have been harmed in the shooting of these videos?
Loving the chancers in their clapped out cabrios.... 🤣🤣
Big Dirk needs to learn how to drive 😂
And I thought his name was 'big dork'
Unwealty Dirk now
It’s amazing how many people don’t know how to drive through a body of water. @tom what do the residents make of the new found fame this Ford has brought?
They do a rain dance when it is dry as they don't seem to have much to do other than watch silly car drivers!
Great vid :) I'm starting my own Rufford Ford channel soon, see you guys on the bridge!
I just love the sound of hydrolock destruction!
I was watching a few of these videos and I just cannot believe how many drivers go for it. And there are still more and more coming. As if they lack a part of their body. Has anyone checked what is the percentage of vaxed vs unvaxed :)
Bystanders must be experts on air filters by now 😀
This makes a good spectacle for the locals.
Mein Gott, was für Höllenhunde. Da haben sie die Karren aber tiefer gelegt😂
I think my 1930s common or garden Austin would be OK in water up to 2 feet deep, although I’d want to protect the upholstery and check the gearbox & axle breathers.
These clips make really wonder. I've never seen such stupid people. As soon as the wave goes over the bonnet driving too fast they all stop.. at least they should creep forward. I reckon a lot of these cars are written off after. I wouldn't but a car that was from this region. Lol.
Yep.
They didn’t intention to stop car in water. But all guys who stop its cause of engine totally died because of water go into engine. I watched many clips about car drive passed water flood. Its let me know something. First Driving pass it with high speed gave more the risk to destroy your engine. And Second if water splash up over your bonnet more than 95% can destroyed your car.
I agree. There are similar places around where I live that occasionally have high water to drive through and I have never once seen a car suck water into their intake. You just drive slow and all is well.
Written off? Definitely 😂 when they stall to a clattering halt, that's the engine knackered 😂
@@LambySRI Absolutely, bent Conrods and buggered bearings....
I like the sound of the kids in the background "Yeaaaaaaaaaaaa".
“B16 DRK” it definitely did take a big drink.
These idiots never fail to amaze me. It's one very large problem to hydro lock a modern engine ,but also on some of these vids they are flooding out the inside of the car which often results in it being a write off these days anyway. If I were the insurance companies, I would be watching these videos for obvious reasons.
If any of these broken engines are covered under insurance... then THAT is criminal!!!
i bet the local garage is making loads of money great videos
Thumbs up and subscribed, cheers Tom 😁👍
how the hell did the mazda and the two volvos die of that?! yes they weren't exactly slow but given how air intakes aren't under the car but rather under the bonnet they should be perfectly fine... and then the blue volvo, which had water coming over the bonnet is perfectly fine other than the piece of plastic down below? I'm so confused.
genuinely don't get it... seriously, the blue nissan as well? how?
The exhaust gets submerged under the water the engine can't breathe it shuts off.
The trick is to get the water into the intake then the combustion chamber for the pistons to compress it.
I'm surprised how many commenters focus on the intake location, my approach would be not drive through the deep water.
It would be interesting to see how EVs fair. My prediction is they would do better.
That Mustang Mach E at the beginning seemed to do ok. It's reasonably tall too.
And there was an BMW iX3 being ok.
I figured they'd probably make it through, I would worry about long-term damage, I guess that applies to gas and electric
Yeah I’ve seen a few on his other vids of EVs and they seem to go quite well. Most of the cars that hydro lock would actually be ok as well - if only their drivers weren’t bellends
All these nice cars finished
Shocking how many people don't understand how an engine works and the concept of keeping you air intake above the water!
Кто снимает молодец . Нет чтоб предупредить ему плевать, контент делает.
контент и нужен для освещения проблем.
Some day I'm going to get a BMW, and run it through there, just to see what happens.
No problem with X5
It's amazing how so many drivers are unaware of the height of their engine air intake. I fish a lot on a river that often floods dips in the nearby roads and under a small railway bridge in particular, but I know exactly how deep I can go, and have a makeshift 'snorkel' atrachmen in case the bridge area gets too deep.
However, looking at this, it doesn' t actually look too deep? The mazda passing through showed the depth to be maybe just above the centre of the wheels. My old B class mercedes can go through up to the height of the wheel.....unlike the slighty newer B class at 2:43 that comes to grief in this video!
0:06 Never did a number plate describe the driver so accurately - bad luck 'BIG DORK'.
I can't imagine how many of these end with bent conrods and a scrapped engine? A number of the deisels have steam out the exhaust which is a very bad sign.
Filming down there is always so much fun. Cool video. I managed to avoid the camera for this one lol
@@guyemmott4009 no,, alas they have been doing this for years and years. Its the same thing that makes us race each other off the traffic lights. “Shake and bake, if you ain’t first you’re last”

Ya Canna change the laws of physics capt, who can't watch me compress water 💦😳
For some reason I expected better from the Volvos - I guess all the water is frozen where they come from so it's not an issue for them
WOW! I didn't know you guys used the term "license plate", I've always heard you call them "number plates".
We don't, usually. Most people say "number plates", but given how exposed we are to American culture, it's not unknown for people to use Americanisms instead.
