ADDITIONAL REVIEW NOTES:
So letâs take a look at the phone. I am used to larger phones, so although the 6.5â 120Hz amoled display makes the phone a bit larger, the plastic build keeps it light. As a guy, my clothes all have large pockets, but I could imagine anyone with smaller pockets or smaller hands might find this phone a bit too large. Of course this large size is necessary for the star of this phone, being the display. With a very small cutout for the 32mp selfie camera and the hidden in display fp sensor, this display is really high quality and has almost everything that $1000 phones have with regards to the display.
Visible in bright light. Great for gaming/media. Etc.
Samsung does screens best
Bezels are larger
The combination of a large and light phone makes it feel a bit cheaper than flagships, and I Think thethe all plastic build materials are to blame. With that said, I do think this phone looks really nice. It kind of reminds me of the S21 ultra from last year.
You can see it is a pretty clean looking phone (expandable storage, no headphone, volume/speaker/power/etc. But no DEX)
Some good news despite the light weight is that the battery is pretty impressive! I can pretty easily get over 6 hours of screen on time in a day before I get a low battery warning. I think most people could afford to charge this every 2 days.
Besides the somewhat cheap feel, my first complaint was with the charging. 25W fast charging fills the 5000mAh battery quickly, but I much prefer wireless charging when in my car or at my desk. Lacking wireless charging is a common compromise for mid range phones like this, but fortunately this does not make one of the other common compromises being the IP rating. Many midrange and budget phones have no water resistance rating and although they are less expensive, I still want to make sure my phone doesnât die if I drop it in a puddle. The Galaxy A53 has IP67 water and dust resistance just like the top tier S-series
When it comes to cameras, (camera tour)
Does not come with a charger
* Speaker test
* Camera test
So what has day to day use been like?
* I was using a pixel 6 pro and iPhone 13 pro before. This is clearly not as fast
* I am impressed by the value of this phone. Besides the speed, there is very little difference the average user will notice and it is a fraction of the cost
* The phone might need a screen protector and case to avoid scratching
* The FP sensor was fast and accurate but if your hands are wet, it can be problematic
* Dual speakers made media sound nice
* I changed the navigation, animations, and dark mode

removing the charger on a midrange phone is a bad move remember people who buy midrange phones are people who are on a tight budget wich would mean they would prefer a phone that comes with everything so bcuz of this buyers might shift to other brands
Only good is if you have existant charger and if you are happy with speed of charging of that, if not then you Will have ti buy it ..
I completely agree

I'm using a52 for one year now, and since the one ui 4.1 update, the phone becoming so smooth, fast and no lag. so happy :)
It's not only one configuration. It sales also in 8G ram/256Gb storage option. As for colours, there are 4 of them.
This is the US version
Yes but the US only gets the black color so if we want another color we have to get it internationally
Not for the US

just bought one , not a single regret. it's a great phone
Same and I've owned a lot of phones đ€
The Exynos chip in this device is around a 765g equivalent. Itâs actually about 25% or so faster than that Snapdragon chip, but at this price I really think we should be getting an 865/788g equivalent. Iâm actually glad Samsung is using more of their own chips, but I just hope they continue to improve at it.
I'm really happy to see such a strong battery life with this chip as well
Nope
Exynos 1280 is crap! Laggy and freezes
It's probably an important part of why they can offer the phone at half price or less, compared the S22. Licensing those chips can be very expensive, but they also have a stellar reputation. Very interested in this phone, but I don't think I've used a non-Qualcam device since I had an LG phone đ
â@@davidjohntough9115 was it like this for you from the start or did it get worse over time.
There's actually different colours of the phone in europe
Yeah...
@Panda Chip peach, pastel blue and white and the 8gb model
Yup! Bought today the blue one
@Panda Chip in Europe you get all the colour ways but in america you only get back if you shop through Samsung. But there is other ways to get the other colours, through ebay I think
Thank You! Your review is very helpful!
Getting this phone in a few days, super stoked! Also you don't like hi-res photo's of yourself?! Just one person's opinion but I think you're very attractive :3
Currently using A52, everything just fine for me, only difference is A53 support 5G, but my country might be take few year only able to use 5G, wait for that time might have A55, I think Samsung A5X series is really good mid range phone, it can get all your work done and really worth for money.
I just got it and am happy with it. It does everything I need it to do, the price was great and it looks good.
Thanks for the review!
After this review there is nothing more I need to consider on this handset
I Love your review.
Thanks Mike clean honest review
I decided on one of these for my first new phone in 3 years. Coming from a J7, it will be a tremendous upgrade. The features it doesn't have are ones I don't care about anyway. Wireless charging is fundamentally inefficient and wasteful. The lack of headphone jack means I will have to upgrade the cassette adapter in my 20 year old car, lol. Lack of charger is not a big issue because I have other chargers. Bose Soundlink Mini II charger is excellent for charging phones. I also have a couple of old Samsung fast chargers laying around. I think it is a minor issue because, at the end of the day, it helps keep the price under the $500 mark.
Very good review and explanation. Should I choose this one or the mi11t??
When will u review the s22 series, Mike?
I recently bought it and I'm very happy. Smooth zoom is available in 1080p video. I can tell white is more clean without fingerprints.

@@mhassi3981 to me, it lasts 1 day and a half if I use it normally. My use is some social network, some light game, email, whatsapp, some call, youtube... 120Hz enabled and NFC disabled (auto enables when paying). Fast charge at 25W means 1h from 15% to 100% aprox, more than enough in my opinion.
The perfect review, thank you!
Bought one of these a few months ago to replace my old A10e. It blows it out of the water in just about every way. My only complaint is that it doesn't come with a charging cable or brick, just a sync cable. But given that I already have several Samsung chargers and I've already got a few Type C cables, it's no big deal for me.
I picked one up a few days ago, love it man. It's the perfect sweet spot.
How is it now?
3 colours available in Australia and are you doing a review on the
Galaxy A73 phone?
As a blind user of this phone with TalkBack, I would also like to add that the dual speakers on this phone are amazing and do wonderful things for my classic TV playlists.
I would like to see a stronger vibration intensity than it has now. Think of it as screen "brightening."
I would also like to see the Samsung TTS version updated to 3.1.02.97 from the current 3.1.02.95, would give much higher quality Samsung voices. The current ones now sound like they all have colds. :) But, because of this, I don't use them, rather, the Google speech services or the Eloquence speech.
Hope that Samsung will improve the features you mentioned, Judy. God Bless.
@@hans6304 Thank you, Hans, apparently the mid-rangers will be getting the TTS updates later. To date, I have received three software updates. Android 13B Beta rolled out today, and, as usual, will more than likely roll out either late in the fall or or early 2023.
@@judyjones5089 Hello, Judy. That's good news right there. They sure have rolled quite a bunch of updates. Hope they'll keep on improving.
Hey @Mike O'Brien, does the A53 comes with an Orange tinged Torchlight? Because mine seems to be that way. I was expecting it to be like white-ish. Would appreciate if you could shed some light to this. Thank you.
They had me at IP67/SAMOLED/camera/CPU basically everything. Incl. the Samsung 4 years of security. And 3 yrs. of OS updates.
Is it true the Exynos Galaxy A53 5G's front and rear cameras have better colours and dynamic range compared to the older Snapdragon A52s 5G? Or has the A52s had updates to its cameras now? Which ones would you choose in terms of general camera quality & performance and video recording?
Firstly thanks for the in-depth review :), for the price itâs an ok phone - you canât expect a top end camera at that price range although Iâd say itâs better than the iPhone 13 camera, I do agree that without a wireless charging option they should have left the power brick in the box - not many buyers at this end of the market are likely to have usb c chargers - I myself have just 1 in my house but if your not fussed about the cheaper build quality itâs a good option considering how expensive premium phones are now
My guess is the silver ring around the front camera is to slightly annoy you to buy a flagship. Since the flagships don't have that silver ring
I just snagged this phone for $99.00 new, and got a 25 watt fast charging brick and a Samsung 512GB Pro SD card.
A good protective case and screen/camera lens protector is a must.
Great phone at a great price.
no way, it's sold at 300$

I have actually watched multiple videos regarding which one is better if it is the a53 or a52s 5g. And suprisingly, when it comes to performance like gaming and most of stuffs, the a52s is much better. But when it comes to camera quality and battery the a53 wins for that part.
But in over all quality of the phone, I'd rather pick the a52s 5g because it has a snapdragon chipset which really helps to maintain good battery life. It also has a headphone jack that a53 doesn't have, and lastly it has a charger in the box. And right now, I'm currently using the a52s 5G and it is superb nice especially the software updates it helps the camera experience to much more realiable and stable.
Plz make a comparison video between A53 and pixel 5a!
Because someone buy a cheap phone doesn't mean the individual is on a low budget not everyone is into the tech stuff
One of the best CZcamsrs. very good at speech. Nice.

Excellent review. I hope to buy this phone and this was so helpful for me. đ
Don't buy it I regret every penny I spent it

I have the Apple iPhone SE 2020 and the Samsung Galaxy A71 5G (2020). It seems like Apple dropped the ball with the Apple iPhone SE 2022. Just end the 4.7" screen phones with small battery already. I like my Samsung Galaxy A71 5G lot more than my iPhone SE 2020. My Samsung runs very fast and hits my mark. I really don't have interest in upgrading anytime soon but I will be little bit interested to see where the Samsung Galaxy A73 5G will fit as it is the 6.7" upgrade model to my 6.7" phone. For me it is the upper Samsung A series, Pixel A series or Motorola G Stylus 5G series as my next future upgrade. Samsung in the lead.
I agree. If Apple wants to keep an iPhone with a home-button, give us the next SE in the iPhone 8+ body with a bigger battery đ
Consider 6.5 inch deviced too trust me me the 0.3 difference isnt noticeable
Am currently using the A53. Its okay so far. Just disappointed with no port for ear piece the packaging didn't had no adapter.
Does the front camera have auto focus?
I am currently using a Galaxy A50 and have been contemplating upgrading to the A53. Seeing as I already really liked using my A50, I figured the A53 would be a great step up, and your review helped reinforce my assumption. Thank you.
A52s is better than a53
have a look on s20fe also
Thanks for the input, but I already got the A53 and am loving it so far. I have zero complaints at the moment with all the things that I use it for. Anything missing was never used by me anyway, like the headphone jack.
I'm also still using my A50 and I'm about to upgrade to the A53. Nice to hear that you like it. BTW, your RE 4 walk through really helped me out back in the day đ . I was surprised to see your channel when I scrolled through the comments on here đ

If you're in the US this phone is only $50 if you switch to Metro and get their $40 a month plan at least. They unlock your phone after 180 days.
I am getting the same battery usage as I did with my A70. Does that seem right? Currently I have 64% battery. That is total sceen time of 6h43min. Which is 1h36min screen on time.
I got the Verizon version. Here in San Antonio, 5G UW is very limited.
Does it got camera 2 api?
I have the blue color, I feel the CPU is just not fast enough. some lagging when you using the apps.
4:08 damn that voice crack xD
I like Samsungs software but in terms of hardware they really have to step up their game. Here in Europe Xiaomi/Redmi/Poco dominate the budget segment because of good hardware and low prices.
I wish Samsung made another mid range phone like the Galaxy A5 2017.
Great Video :)
Voice cracked because I am recovering from a head cold. Sorry
I would argue that the display on this is better than that of poco/term I/xiaomi at this price but the rest of the build materials definitely feel cheap
Edit: Iâm glad you liked the video! Also, I completely forgot the A5 existed haha thanks for reminding me of that phone!
Display and camera are better on this. I have the Redmi note 10 pro to compare with it.
But plastic build has advantages. Specially for all the ppl with those butter fingers. It doesn't break and crack that easy as glass.
it's now September, is DEX available?
how is this phone compared to lg v30 and v40? I know lg v30 and v40 are old phone and I am thinking about getting a53 for my parent. obviously, they are old and they don't play games on it but only watching youtube and make phone calls so a53 seems good upgrade.

I love the A series. I got the A52s 5G AND I GOT A CHARGER WITH IT xD
AND a headphone jack
AND expandebal storagr.
It's an 18w charger though. You'll eventually end up buying a 25w charger anyway so I really don't see why people are so concerned about the charger if they ultimately have to buy one someday. Plus I bet most already have chargers of their previous phones.
I'd rather have no charger and a cheaper price than a charger which can't use the phone's charging potential fully and a higher price.

Watching your video on my s21 5g phone from last year
Cool
0:50 Not sure which country is this guy from but here in Asia we have A53 5G too and it's available in 4 colours to choose from namely BLACK, WHITE, BLUE & PEACH. Also I beg to disagree that this is the most exciting phone on the A series this year cuz there is A73 5G here also which is somewhat a major upgrade to last year's A72 which is not even 5G and has only 90Hz display. A73 is surely not Available in BLACK but it has this dull GRAY colour, MINT & for some weird reasons there is a WHITE colour too for the A73 5G but NO BLACK colour.
I really want samsung to invest on their own chips. I know exynos still has a lot to improve. Apple proved how good everything gets with its exclusive apple soc.
Even google had stepped up
I bought my family a ÂŁ249 Samsung A53 5G this week in the Amazon sale. I also bought myself a half price as new iPhone SE 2020 a few months ago for ÂŁ229. Both phones are fast enough. Recently smashed the phone screen on my S20 5G and ordered this because I couldn't find the A52s. I'm aware it's a bit of a down grade... but as some who only PC games, and then uses my phone for photos, email, youtube and twitch I feel like the A53 will get the job done. Also... I understand the phone is slower than high end, but is it actually slow? Or is it just that you get the odd stutter and hang-up, where you normally wouldn't on a flagship?
I had the A52 5G for a bit last year and found it to be really fast (for me), would this be similar?
Itâs not slow. Like you mentioned, itâs mostly just the occasional stutter and hang up
