  • The Sonos Port is the perfect solution for updating your older stereo receiver. It allows you to take advantage of your home theatre for streaming music, audiobooks, podcasts, and more-even if your current device does not have “smart” Wi-Fi capabilities.

Can you use the receiver as a line-in (for turntable, CD/player etc) for the port and also use it as a line out?

Awesome job breaking this down. I have a question though, I got a Sonos Arc, Sub and 2 Play Ones and I’d like to connect them to my Denon S960H AVR which has TV and Game Console hooked up. How can I output audio through the Sonos system without having sync issues or compromising dolby effects?

Hi, does the PORT work with a subwoofer? Or only left and right from the receiver? Thanks!

I think the SONOS Port is not capable of subwoofer support. This is where the SONOS Amp [1] is taking over. Expensive stuff unfortunately :(

this isn’t an amp, this is just a input device, think of it as a chromecast for audio.

the subwoofer would be managed by your amp.

Seem's like a very expensive way to stream. I'm using a $20 bluetooth receiver for my stereo and streaming everyone you just mentions via my phone. Is there any other benefit to buying this $449 unit? For example, using Sonos speakers with my stereo receiver?

That's what I'm trying to figure out. What I'm trying to make happen is a main system in the living-room with a receiver and separates that can stay in-sync with a couple sonos one SL's in other rooms. Basically trying to avoid using a sonos soundbar, which will never compete with a real 7.1 system.
