  • When it comes to Toyota, they never go wrong with their SUVs. For centuries, they have been making some amazing SUVs, and they are all loved all over the world. Even though they have been making changes to these SUVs, they have done something that most automakers have not managed to do: stick to their roots when it comes to the SUVs. Well, at least that is the case with the Toyota 4Runner. Even as they introduce the 2025 4Runner, they have still managed to keep it close enough to the original, just with a few modern touches here and there. But what’s new with the 2025 Toyota 4Runner? Let’s find out, shall we?
Hello, everyone, and welcome back to our channel. Today, we will look at the 2025 Toyota 4Runner and learn what it offers. One of the most charming SUVs on our roads for the longest time now has been the Toyota 4Runner. This is an SUV that is very capable, bulletproof, and, most importantly, looks very intimidating. However, it has been long overdue for a change, but it is finally here.
Toyota has finally revealed the all-new sixth-generation 2025 Toyota 4Runner. It has been a long wait, as people have always wanted to see it upgraded. And now that it has, we can say that it looks better than ever.
One thing that we know for sure is that the 2025 Toyota 4Runner is going back to its truck roots. You see, the original 4Runner of the '80s was essentially a Toyota truck that had a cab on the back. The 2025 version, which borrowed some designs from the 2024 Tacoma, has come up with pretty much the same blueprint both mechanically and aesthetically.
Aside from the new platform, the 2025 4Runner also has quite a few powertrains under the hood. If you have been keeping track of Toyota’s latest cars, you have probably noticed that the automaker has been downsizing its engines as it moves its body-on-frame trucks to the TNGA-F platform.
Even with all this, it doesn’t come as a surprise that the new 4Runner’s powerplant is following the same trend. And as a result of this, the famous 4.0-liter V6 of the outgoing 4Runner is being replaced with a pair of turbocharged 2.4-liter 4-cylinder options, just like in the Tacoma.
The engine may be powerful enough, but the transmission also matters. Between automatic and manual transmission, a lot of people seem to prefer manual. After all, it does give you the whole feeling of being in control of your car. But is it really going to be offered for the 2025 Toyota 4Runner?
The 2025 Toyota 4Runner has quite a number of perks. And one of these perks is that it will now offer two new trims. Just like the Tacoma, the 4Runner will now start offering a new premium Trailhunter grade.
The automaker had to collaborate with a number of external off-road parts makers to make the 4Runner Trailhunter even better. As such, ARB supplies its Old Man Emu (OME) 2.5-inch forged shocks and a co-designed roof rack. On the other hand, 33-inch Open Country A/T tires come from Toyo, and they add a whole 2 inches of ground clearance at the front and 1.5 inches at the back.
As we have seen, the Trailhunter trim is mainly for those who want to go purely off-road. However, Toyota has a reputation for considering everyone in every car. And because of that, they have also considered those who would love to enjoy a bit of luxury by adding a new Platinum luxury trim level.
As far as everything is concerned, and the 4Runner’s capability as well, the 2025 4Runner will receive some off-roading upgrades. This is slowly becoming the main off-road vehicle for anyone. Believe it or not, Toyota has equipped the new 4Runner with myriad off-road upgrades, making it clear that this is the most off-road capable example of the SUV that we have ever seen since its inception.
Furthermore, the 2025 4Runner also comes with a bunch of other off-road features, among them a change to the Multi-Terrain Select system that allows it to function in both 4WD-High and 4WD-Low. This offers greater control over wheel spin on multiple types of terrain, along with a quieter CRAWL Control function.
When it comes to the interior, let’s just say that there are not as many changes as you would expect. The new 4Runner interior makes a great leap into the 2020s.
The 2025 Toyota 4Runner upgrade has been long overdue. But what do you think of it? Is there a part you wish could be upgraded? Feel free to share your thoughts in the comments below. Parts of it just don't look right, and even one area towards the back looks like it's a dent more than a body line or shape. This is what you get when you overdo something from mainly trying to look tough. And don't get me starting on that 4-cylinder.
