Great non biased comparison. I’m a 2012 Silverado owner .I am getting ready to buy Unfortunately I might add because I love this LTZ with the 6.2 and it has been trouble free . Being a V8 guy I think the Ram is going to be my choice thanks in part to this video . To get a Chevy with the 6.2 and comparable features is priced ridiculous.
I have a 22 Rebel, it is by far the best.
Own a GT and absolutely love it... Father and brother in law have the 22 Tundra and are more impressed by the Ram than me the Tundra for whatever that's worth haha
Should have pointed out that the Ram has metal bumpers whereas Tundra is all plastic covers front and rear.
I like your channel. This review of the two trucks was very well done! I have a 2020 Ram Rebel ,but I also have the Adaptive cruise, which I use all the time. I really enjoy driving my Ram!

The new tundra looks absolutely amazing with a few simple mods. I’d take the tundra anyday everyday over a ram. Nothing against ram but I know a lot of people who had rams and say they will never buy one again. I’ve had toyota trucks my whole life and literally had zero issues with ANY of them.
New tundras having issues with their turbo waste gate. The forums even have a Google doc for people to add their new Tundra problems. New truck and engine years are risky.
New Tundra owner here. No waste gate issues at 2k miles. I was also told to go easy and break in the engine a little. Not sure if that's why or if my truck is just issue-less. Happy to entertain any questions or comments. I have the 2022 Limited TRD Off road in Lunar Rock.
New tundra gains 2 mpg and you loose reliability and that great sound. Horrible trade off.

The previous gen Tundra back seat in the crew cab felt way bigger to us tall folks. The new one seems tight in comparison. The Ram is pretty impressive. It's the only brand I never owned because of the problems friends and relatives had with them.
Im here to tell you as I owned a fourth gen Ram. Buy with caution! I now own a secoumd gen 13 Tundra and the reliability is night and day.
Own all new 2019 Ram 1500 Sport (Canadian Model) 5.7 Hemi, 70k on it and runs like a charm with no issues. The fit and finish is very impressive, love the UConnect with 12 inch screen. Former vehicles were all Japanese, wife works for Toyota. Domestic Pickups with the exception of many of the GMs I see are well made, Toyota make great vehicles but don't kid yourself they also have many recalls and mechanical issues.

i bought a 2012 dodge ram 1500 with 5.7 best truck i ever owned. my truck i had before my ram was a 2001 Chevy Silverado with the 4.8 had it for 7 years no problems i miss that truck but the ram power and the sound of the hemi is just by far the funnest in my opinion.

the tundras are just ugly in my opinion they just changed to much stuff i like the 2021 tundra better and can't beat tge sounds of the 5.7 v8.
I can’t live without 4W drive auto. Great option for certain snowy days. Use mine all the time in my winter climate.

That Tundra will be lots of fun when a problem with the waste gate requires the cab to be removed to make the repair. Lots of fun.
They should've updated their V-8. Those engines are excellent.
This problem is actually very rare and all the other truck makers have issues that are more common. It also can be fixed without taking the body off. That was the way it was first done but seemingly unnecessary.
Crazy that you have to remove the cab on a v6 engine truck! I realize you can do it now without removing the cab but still, the amount of labor to fix this simple part is ridiculous.

Ram curtailed some safety options on a lot of trims in 22 due to shortages.
That rattling center console in the Tundra would drive me nuts.
The safety features are available on the Ram if ordered but Tim…. Smiles per gallon in this video say it all. You couldn’t stop smiling every time you pressed the go pedal.😎

Tundra has improved their interior a lot, but dang that Ram interior looks nice!
Tundra has grown on me the minute look at it love it even more same goes with Silverado but I take the Ram for sure. It looks better as more rugged having bit more horsepower under hood.

Both look pretty great, definitely no real bad option in todays market. I’m also interested to see if Ram will eventually adopt a 4xe drivetrain in their upcoming models too.
As someone who spent four months of daily research and occasional test driving, you honestly can't go wrong. It's like deciding on a Glock vs a Smith & Wesson vs SIG. Unless you're a fanboy, then the differences come down to personal preferences. There's flaws and benefits to each manufacturer.
I think it’s customer preference, but for me. I like techs, but I think it’s making everyone loose the basic instinct of driving and being more reliable on tech. With that said I still look over both my shoulder and mirror when changing lane. I think you can still get more power out of that HEMI to make it comparative with the tundra as far as power is concern.
My 2022 ram bighorn eco diesel turbo is averaging over 30 miles per gallon with long distance driving plenty of power and space very smooth ride

I placed my order in Feb and I just visited my dealership and now they are saying that there has been a major slow down at the plant in Texas ( only one shift vice 3) due to supply / parts shortage. So now instead of possibly receiving my truck next month. I might not see it until August...Ugghhh. I am going to reach out to other dealerships and see if there are any 1794's available. Keep up the great work.

Try the foam door insert for cups in the Tundra, might fit. Let us know.

You can add all of the same safety features in a package on the Ram on most trims including the Rebel.

I too love driving. It's a good thing considering I do at least one trip of about a thousand kilometres a week for my work. I'm in the other camp though when it comes to the sound. The muffler noise drives me nuts when it goes on for about nine hours or so. Give me a quiet truck that is smooth and insulated.

Tim are you sure that you don’t have a side mirror defrost button between the rear window and AC button. Otherwise I’m shocked that the tundra at that price with all the other bells and whistles doesn’t have mirror defrosters.
Well I'll be. I stand corrected. Just went out and double checked. I never noticed the side mirror symbol on that button. The side mirror should show the heated lines icon like other trucks though.

Nice video. I don't know why RAM doesn't revise those economy ratings for the Rebel. I seriously doubt you will get anywhere near the EPA rating on the Rebel. Not bad mileage for what it is but just not what is advertised. As far as turbo motors are concerned as long as you are super vigilant in the maintenance they tend to hold up just fine. Yes they are more complex and have more points of failure but I would never let the oil change go to the recommended interval. Turbo motors generate more soot than non turbo motors. Some of that soot ends up in the oil and can cause excessive wear on the timing chains. The HEMI is not without issues either as they can have issues with the lifters and the MDS. if someone wants to keep a truck long term I recommend going overkill on fluid changes. Really for me on any of them it comes down to styling and comfort. That is why I went with the 2022 RAM Limited. Tundra availability is a joke and then many of the dealers want to mark them up over MSRP. I live in a city of 500k in the south. You can't go 2 miles without seeing many pickup trucks. I have seen a total of 2 in the wild. Toyota really needs to step up their production.

Nice video as usual. I have never even considered looking at the Fiat because I have a very negative opinion of that company due to their track history. After watching this video, I must say that it has opened my eyes and made me realize that they do have some redeeming qualities that make them unique. However, I would still choose the Toyota all day long over the Fiat just because I trust the brand more. I love all the competition between the big four truck manufactures, and I think each one has their strengths and weaknesses. IMHO: Ford leader in innovation and off-road capabilities, Chevrolet and GMC (same truck) good looks and price, Toyota reliability, and Dodge now regrettably Fiat gave us the Hemi but reliability still plagues this brand.
Sounds like you need to buy a Ram for your next long term review. You have a smile on your face every time you get behind the wheel of one but the horror stories from the 90’s and early 2000’s is preventing you from realizing how improved they have become today.

The horror story experiences is exactly why I want to drive one for a year or so. I want to see what the initial quality is like. Love to have it longer, but just not a good business decision.
@@Pickuptrucktalk I had a F150 that needed expensive engine work (spark plug issue Triton engine) and then the transmission dropped at 49k. I'm in a 2017 5.7 Ram 1500 with 60k miles no issues. If everyone listened to my horror stories with Ford they would miss out a solid vehicle because of my bad experience. Most F150s don't have the problems I had.
Im sorry but ram hasn't really gotten better until the 5th gen 2018 or newer! i had the popular 4th gen and what junk!
@@fredwilliams7893 I've owned Rams since 1999 and never had an issue with any of them. The 2014+ 4th gens are overall a solid platform. Please don't tell me you're a Ford guy. The 3V Tritons were complete garbage. Even the Ecoboost had major issues the first few years it was released. You couldn't pay me to buy a GM with AFM. So pick your poison and roll the dice. Rams been extremely good to me and everyone else in my family who own them.

Don't have a Tundra with air suspension to compare it to. Only can compare what I have.

I'd be curius to see a compare between lower trim. Tundra sr5 trd off road versus equivenlent trim in dodge,gmc,ford. The tundra is 58k ca with heated stearing wheel, leather stearing, safty option. I dont think any other offer as mutch for the price.

You, hotrod pretenders, crack me up. You do know you don't have a mechanical shifter. All your doing is contacting electronic switch points to shift. It's like having toggle flip switches on a laptop.😁 That "sissy" knob is on Fords, Mercedes, and several other makes. I have one on both of my '13/'19 Ram trucks and they work great.

What is Tundra's trim equivalent to Ram 1500 rebel?
Hmm... I'm not sure they have a comparable trim. You could say it is a SR5 with the TRD package or maybe a Limited with the same off-road package.

I will not buy a Ram because of the bad experiences driving fleet trucks. The 5.7 motor is a beast but every supporting component had to be replaced before 200k miles. I had to drive on the slow lane because i never knew when my Ram would die. My work place has stopped buying Ram after 2010 and have since only purchased F-series, silverados and a few Tacomas. The Tacoma being everyone's favorite.
I wouldn’t of purchased prior to 2010 either. But now I would 💯% recommend it. Very very good truck now. It will take Ram years to remove this stereotype of reliability and there old issues. Great improvement for my contractors use Rams and love them. And also Fords.
I’ve had my 04 Tundra for 18 years. The new Tundra has a hideous front end. When and if I get a new truck it might be the Ram.
So disappointed in the Tundra. I got on my dealers list right when they were announced. I just couldn't care less anymore. Seems like a huge let down. Need a mid-cycle refresh already...

2003 dodge ram 1500 set 4x4 135,00 miles. Still going strong. Oem alternator and starter and radiator. Have only replaced battery and brake pads.

Not everyone wants those features or wants to pay for those. I like that they're optional. I don't need trailer backup assistance, 10 cameras, beepers, or lane assistance. People just need to pay attention when they drive.
Ram has those features on the higher end models plus a heads up display.

Or what us Toyota drivers simply call bad trucks. Ram has a nasty habit with premature rusting here near the Atlantic Ocean. Usually good for about five years and that's not something you want to see with a truck that can routinely top 100k.

See the problem with Toyota is, not only are their products dog ugly, you have to wait over a decade for the next generation, and it's still a underwhelming disappointment. The Tundra does not have 4 corner air suspension like the Ram does. It basically has air bags in the back, not the same thing. Also, Truck King channel says the Tundra coil suspension drives much more jittery/harsh than the Ram, while towing too. Perhaps everyone has different sensitives here but I've heard more than one complain that the Tundra drives/feels worse.

I had an 06 Ram, 5.7 and put 100k trouble free miles on it. I paid 22k for it at the time and sold it in 2016 for 16k. I’ll take that any day off the week.
Well dave in Canada, my 3 year old Ram in Canada has been 0 days in the dealership, 0 recalls, 0 fixes. I'm at 60,000 trouble free KM's so far and counting, just oil changes and preventative maintenance. I'm not brand loyal at all, and when I bought 3 years ago it was a tossup between this and a Chevy but no regrets.

Ram doesn’t pump in V-8 sounds because it has a V-8 . Why does Toyota pump in V-8 sounds ?? I traded a ‘21 platinum crew max for a Ram 2600 diesel . Tundra was in the dealership for so many rattles in dash & windshield issues. My Ram diesel has zero rattles in cab . Plus I get 21 mpg . Just my opinion.
Had 2 different Chrysler/Fiat/Stellantis products in my life under 2 different ownership structures years apart. Both were piles of crap. There won't be a third. If you completely ignore quality and reliability, the Ram is a competitor.
Lol I had the same issue with Ford. Went to a 1500 a few years ago with low expectations and have 0 days in the shop- 100% reliable. Of course for everyone that gets burned by a brand there are a 100 that are perfectly happy.

Agreed! owned a used fourth gen ram 118,000 miles on it and it was just falling apart! Never again . Bought a 2013 second gen tundra with 101,000 miles and so solid.
I have a 2019 ram rebel 0 issues I also have a 2005 ram 1500 145,000 miles still runs like a raped ape just the typical 3rd gen rust issues and header bolt issues other then that love the trucks came from chevy and never looked back drive ford's for work in my opinion that are crap
@@curtrorro9870 exhaust manifold bolts is a big deal how can you look at that as its not WTF? Thats not reliable man! I had fourth gen ram othing but issues leaks electrical issues only had 118,000 miles. Thats horrible. 6 exhaust manifold bolts broke to. I guess people just settle for less. Traded in that pos got a Tundra and never looked back

Ram wins easily, nicer interior, bigger backseat and it has steel bumpers and skid plates while the Tundra has plastic. The Ram is 3 years old and still beats the brand new Tundra.
Tundra will outlast that RAM. If I am paying 60k for a Truck, Id feel more comfortable knowing itll start ten years in. Toyota wins.

I need to be honest, this was a truly biased video. Why would you feature your own truck that you obviously went out and purchased in a video squared off against its competition (to me, they’re not remotely comparable)? It seemed glaringly obvious that the RAM looks better outside and inside by a landslide. You can tell RAM actually took dedicating a truck to being off-road very seriously. They also added many unique features to this model without the price of a Raptor. The Tundra’s interior looked painfully plain and had that really cheap looking plastic; nothing about that interior screamed “Limited” trim whereas the Rebel looked like it was a luxury car from inside that nevertheless had features like air suspension (which was highly downplayed as a feature), real skid plates, tow hooks (why would ANY truck have no tow hooks?) Why? It’s because they’re meant for guys who don’t need a truck but want to drive one anyways. The RAM has not only a bigger cabin and backseat, but it has a completely flat floor and storage along with two cubbies that are in the floor. Real men need cubbies. That Tundra looks nice, but the interior is awful. That 14” display looks like typical Toyota software and I love how it protrudes from the dash like it’s not even meant for the truck. Talk about visibility issues! But wait, the tundra has blind side sensors, guess that means the Tundra WINS. No. The Rebel is an excellent choice for off-road enthusiasts who want a capable truck but don’t want to either commit to a Raptor or want to stay under $70,000 loaded. It’s a unique truck that better rivals the TRD Pro, which is more of the same as this just with less payload and towing. Vent over, sorry! I was just shocked how he acted like the Rebel wasn’t completely luxurious and badass but liked his ARM rest and his chincy ass console 😂

Personally, I'd take the RAM over the Toyota. I know too many people (personally) who have experienced expensive $$$$$ catastrophic failures with Toyota trucks. You shouldn't have to swap engines and/or power trains on trucks that are still under warranty... and then run into the same problems when you're warranty runs out.
Maybe they've sorted out their problems, but I'm never going to chance it.
