The 80s were not perfect, but they brought some quality, innocence and mystery that allowed us to enjoy it for what it was worth. This song is very simple thought for the kid in all of us, when times are hard we can always try to imagine and make believe for a minute. Pure brilliance.

Penny M yes, there are some great older songs, but if you are younger you wouldn’t necessary hear them. I find radio stations even like Absolute 80s play the same old songs all the time and there are a lot they miss.

Aww you're not the only one. Was a bit of a dreamer as i kid and it feels like the song takes you on a dreamy escape with some of the lyrics and the melody . Not heard it for decades but instantly takes me back to playful childhood innocence where there's not too much to worry about. Guess the tears are a reflection or reaction that those days are gone....but we can still enjoy these songs and vids!
Similar for me Vikki. I was 12 though. A remarkable childhood and I found the song so very affecting. My father is gone now and mum is old and getting frail. It now takes me back to a time of security and love.

@The Flying Dutchman it was shit in the '80s. Three TV channels until 1982, Thatcher, Miner's strike, all the shops shut at 5:30 and didn't open on Sunday, pubs kicked out at 11. If you were a persecuted minority the police were no help, they might have been the reason for your persecution. Compared to now almost everything was worse in the 80s - it was all bad food, boring beer, primitive computers, crap cars, fucking Athena posters.....
Horrible times, the only reason people here are nostalgic is personal reasons - they could still see their toes and they didn't have any responsibilities.

This song is simply magical. I remember the first time I heard it in 1981 when it became a worldwide hit. It was so unique and catchy it’s impossible not to love it. Even sounds magical in 2022! Bucks Fizz is one of the best British groups. They have so many great songs.

I would say the drums are good but the riff and the Chorus is what makes the song period. i've Heard alot of songs and i mean alot some with bad Chorus and riffs and some with great but i have to admit this Chorus is fucking Amazing

I was a small child my parents were young and doing there best to provide and live there lives and supporting a young family both now sadly passed away and here am I reminiscing about a time when life seemed so perfect, I wonder if my parents also found the same feelings of nostalgia in music of there youth and there parents.
