This came on while my client was watching TV. I don't know if you've ever heard a 55 year old with cerebral palsy and the mind of a 7 year old sing this song, but let me tell you, it is absolutely exceptional. He got a round of applause and absolutely made my day.
MY FEMALE TEENAGER NEIGHBOUR PLAYED THIS ALL THE TIME IN 81.
HAD TO COUNTER IT WITH THE JAM. GOOD FUN COVER THOUGH ❤
2024 and still rocking the song 😊😊
One of the great musical expressions of the 20th century. Subtle, sublime, deep. Truly, the lion sleeps tonight.
Absolutely classic. Love this song. Wen this song comes on, I love to dance to it. Lifts my spirits up. Happy music. 😊
Without doubt the craziest sounding unique pop song of all times. Will forever stand alone, completely mad but fantastic. I loved it at the time and nothing has ever come close to surpassing it since.
Fabulous, first ever record that my Aunt bought for me when I was a child. She has now saddly passed away so it holds a special place in my heart ❤.
It's 2024 and this song still sounds fresh. The drums are perfectly arranged.
80s, when life was much Simpler 🤷♂️, and didn't Realise we were living in the best Decade EVER 💯💙👌🏻✌🏻
You’ll say this in 10 years about this decade. You need to accept the good and positive things about living in the now, instead of constantly looking back at times and reminiscing. It wasnt better or worse than right now.
@@kevinsaviro2708 it's Called Memories I'll hopefully say it in 20/30 years, No Mobile phones, People used to actually talk to one another, unlike today when people are filming people getting beaten up, Rather than actually helping, No to busy worrying about how many likes there gonna get 💯✌🏻

Definitely FRIENDS brought me here... I would have never know a song like this if it wasn't for that show.. Taught me so much
This song is not from the 80s, oh great people of the CZcams. It's from the 60s. This might be an 80s reboot, but I was in college during the 80s and have no memory of this, and I should, I LOVE this song
This song is from the 70 I think I was at the primary school when I first heard this song and I love it ❤Every time I heard this song it made my day ❤❤
This song was released in 1982 and got to No.1. Interesting fact, the guy miming in the video is Steve Grant, who is not the actual vocalist on the song. That was a guy called Roy Ward.
@@Hayden1969-ws4vy Okay. The Tokens released this in 1961. This particular iteration is performed by a UK group.
The song itself has a very long and complicated history. Started out VERY differently in Africa. But anyway. It's fabulous
This was originally a hit in the 60s. 😌
Love this song miss 80 best time of my life
I was 13 when this made No1 in the UK charts. Love 80's music FOREVER.
Even though it was originally out in 1961 ....I grew up listening to the 80's version but the original from 61 is better
The best cover of this aong I've ever heard. Love the video. Back in 1961 when the Tokens made the original version music videos weren't invented yet.
Actually, they sort of had been. Promotional clips of potential hit records date back to the 1920s, but up to the late 1950s, they were on film. Videotape was new and fairly crude in 1961; 6 Twilight Zone episodes were recorded that way, but the inability to easily edit it convinced CBS to switch back to film. I don't know when the first song promotional clip was recorded on video, but during the 1960s, a number of them were put into film cartridges and send out to jukebox-like machines (allegedly controlled by the mafia) that played them for a few quarters. Though one might expect something that would sound tinny and look crude, the quality of the ones posted on YT is surprising.

Actually the song was first recorded in 1939. The Tokens version is a cover!
My childhood in a nutshell. My parents forever used to play this song to me, then to have it played on my 18th birthday. Some of the few good memories to be treasured 🥰😊
Saved in any playlist that wants to be included to make me happy, 2021 and beyond. A timeless classic, that will always finpd favour to all generations that choose to listen to it, it kept popping into my head for the past few months where I'd start to singing it and bop along, 😂🤣❤️
The urge to sing the lion sleeps tonight is only a whim away...a whim away...
Слушаю эту песню и смотрю видеоклип уже раз 50. И до сих пор наслаждаюсь. Мелодия, ритм, игра, лица, тонкий юмор - все это прекрасно
An 80s version of a 60s classic! Well done!! July 2022😀😀❤❤👍👍
The most positive song i've ever heard! Love it since I was a kid :D
@@barbaramcneilly4807 Woah, woah, woah, woah, woah, le-lets cover up that noise! Umm, Give us track number 19.
If you have come here to hate, don’t bother, we all love this magnificent bit of 80’s cheese.
Can’t believe these guys didn’t go on to have a long and illustrious career. They are the epitome of artistic integrity.
They tried using their own voices later in life but he sounds terrible. All they were doing were Gay benefit shows. Local parks etc.
Maybe because their version of this song doesn’t hold a candle to the original?
Still better than anything in 25 years. Long live 80s
You might mean 45 years? It's 2024... I would say since 65 years as this song was originally made in the 60's
@@Mark-qc5ts Actually, it was first recorded in 1939. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Lion_Sleeps_Tonight
Never get bored of listening to this song, I love it
The song reminds me of my first visit to the Field Museum in Chicago. Our eighth-grade class trip. May 1962. There I was, wandering around the Africa displays , in awe, standing in front of the display of the man-eating lions of Tsavo. The song was playing in my head. Wonderful memory.
Schade das dies Truppe nicht mehr gibt Ich mag dieses Lied es ist super.
40 years later I find that Tight Fit simply mimed! So much for a good voice ... but at least they were easy on the eyes haha
I think if the pop group Tight Fit saw this comment they would all be so proud of themselves. It is such a beautiful story and full of positively for those who need it most. Keep up the good work you're a credit to all who need your help. 👍.
One of my all-time favourite pop tracks.
Played football on the beach with one of the girls when she was appearing on stage in jersey, such a fun girl 😀😀
This was and still is a great song. My childhood right here ..I'm 70 and still love it
2020 anyone?
Starts to sing a long.
and then to fall a sleep at my computer and reading a Harry Potter fanfiction.
whoever made the song genius

Today is a GREAT day 😂 not only does the song make me laugh everytime I hear it today for the first time ever I have now seen the original video and it certainly didn't disappoint 😂😂😂
It's disappointing for me and i prefer the tv studios appearances TOTP etc as
we see the girls as they were meant to be in their full glory especially the song

Tight Fit...love it!...and the song. Long time favorite, just a new artist.
Gosh, this version brings back some school memories of the early 80s. I had forgotten the video was very tongue in cheek too. As I recall a snippet of this version was used in an episode of The Young Ones, where one of the students discovers a lion tamer at work in his bedroom.
The 80s must have been the biggest drug era in history
404UserNotFound ... 20’ s 30’ 40’ 50’ 60’s and way beyond were red hot with ignorance pure heroin & Cocaine we’re rich pickings. 70’s & 80’s quite shallow really. Just saying.

All time classic hit of 1981 for Steve, Denise & Julie.

loved it when i was 12,found out years later "the lion sleeps tonight" is south african street for i cant get it up! shoulda checked meaning first.
This song was written in 1939 so would be very surprised if the lyrics used were meant in this way.
Wait what?? Can't get what up?? Dude it was a song about a dead king. King's not dead, he just sleeps.
As a kid from '64 I remeber that in my country it was a No. 1 hit.
Brilliant video for a great song❤❤❤❤❤❤
Stunning rendition! Thank you!
But they left out the girl singing the descant in the stratosphere? Why?
Doesn’t hold a candle to the Token’s original version
2022 40 years old still a great song .👍
@@jayatfreelance So was I, except I thought I was listening to The Tokens, instead of a near-perfect rip-off of their version, by a group I never heard of. My bad! This ARRANGEMENT was released in 1961, making it over 50 years old, 62 years to be exact. "Tight fit?" That sounds like one of my college girlfriends!
This is the version I watched growing up. Always thought it was the only version

I’ve never heard of these guys and they might not have amounted to anything but they made this kick ass song and video that will be forevermore.
Right? That's some legacy to leave behind. Guaranteed to make people smile even in 2044.
Wait until you hear the superior original song by The Tokens, made decades before this.
@@Music-tg5is oh absolutely, that’s the best, just saying these guys don’t have nearly the fame but they did a great rendition that they should be proud of😊
@@Music-tg5is The original track was released in the late 30s by Solomon Linda in South Africa.
@@thbonvg7507 I know. I've heard the early African tribal recordings. But before The Tokens version, the traditional chant was very rough with varying improvisation between renditions, and nowhere near as well polished and arranged. The song in the form we recognise it as today, stems from and traces mainly back to classic The Tokens production.
My 8th month grandson 💙 loves this song makes him smile 😃 😊
Such a great fun video of this classic song , I remember it well . Enjoyed the song ,
It’s a wonder that anybody could sleep in the jungle with that noise…🦁🦁🦁
I'm 19 and I appreciate this song.
I'm old enough to remember this song, would have been seven years old when this hit the charts.

1 of thye best songs of all time 👌 Ear worm stays with you forever, the gorgeous brunette married Peter Waterman, good taste 👌
So many stereotypes in one 3 minute video plus the hint of bestiality at the end. That's the 80s I remember.
I remember this song when I was young 2007 listen this on lion king :3 my dad was play with me the lion king puppet

I fell in love with this band in the GREAT 80s
When this song came on at the ice skating rink i'd be in heaven. Was great skating round in hockey skates while listening to 80s music....
This was the 1st somg I listened too, when I was 13 years old. Tight fit..he was fit..I had a crush 😍 on him
That lion is truly terrifying..
A cheesey song,’ but I’m so addicted to it 🤪
Damn I love this song 😍
The Lion King Is Amazing😍🤘
James Freeman this song just reminds me of the film some how I don’t know why, I probably was high af when I wrote that comment a year ago😬🤣👌🏻
The person who gives the concept of "Lion 🦁 Sleeps Tonight" was incredible, magnificent person on Earth.
I Love Lions and I sing this song to them when I visit London zoo I can't get enough of the Lions at the zoo and this song❤❤❤❤❤❤ Both a roaring success
What does it really mean when the lions are sleeping? It means they've just killed something and stuffed themselves. There's one less wildebeest galloping around on the savanna tonight.
I remember this video from my childhood and recently I had the pleasure to meet one of the lovely girls of this group and I must say she was absolutely fantastic and an amazing person!
