Lyrics
You gotta speed it up
And then you gotta slow it down
'Cause if you believe that a love can hit the top
You gotta play around
And soon you will find
That there comes a time
For making your mind up.
You gotta turn it off
And then you gotta pull it out
You gotta be sure that it's something
Everybody's gonna talk about
Before you decide
That the time's all right
For making your mind up.

Here in 2024?
Yeah Katie mentioned them
@@azertu2u2 she reminded me of them too, so I had to remind myself of the whole routine, just cheesy sunshine, we need more cheesy sunshine right now!!
Yep 😊
Right here👋
Hereeee
Good ole Katie - never heard of these guys. It was the days when music was fun. 1980s was fun.
Arguably one of the most sterling examples of relentless optimism ever committed to record. Absolute, utter perfection.
Exactly what we need right now
Y sin meterse nada , la vida era maravillosa antes😂😂😂😂😂
@@carmencastrejon2501 Fue. Afortunadamente, el gran arte es atemporal.
Pmsl!!!!
The height of fashion, hairstyle and dance moves . I am a survivor
Our PE teacher played this in assembly 1981. ‘Trust your inner vision, don’t let others change your mind.’ It changed my life!
Ironic
Pedofil ,Maybe..!!!
Lucky you, our PE teacher made us run cross country in a snow blizzard followed by the slipper if you were last...
I don't care how cheesy this is, it's a mood lifter. And god knows we need those rn.
Truth!
hahahahaha god knows qHAHAHAHAAA
I would lmfao
Your right!
Get a grip of yourself man! Ya numpty!
It is what it is - perfect pop music.
Women sure looked good back in ‘81! Fun time to be alive! I was stationed in England with the USAF then and absolutely loved it.
Many people don't realise that at this time Top Of The Pops had paid dancers and models in the front of the audience. If you watch videos from 1982 you see the same faces and legs time after time.
Because the women then looked slim, not thin and anorexic like they do today
I remember so well sitting in front of the TV in 1981 at the age of 11, watching Eurovision and hoping so much for this song to win. I loved it so much and still love it today. - Best regards from Germany! ❤
The '70-ties.

Yes, I wish that too. Definitely the best time ever to be young. A time when everything was just normal - unlike today...
Greetings
We only have memories of our youth. And great ones. Not like today. They have reminders. Record everything they do. Good job cameras weren't a thing and we growing up. The absolute mad stuff we got up to. How are we still alive 😂😂 born 1970. 🇮🇪
I was also born in 1970.
Genius move to add that skirt ripping scene, won Eurovision for us
today that would get them a rape charge lol
God I remember hearing this in the background, on the radio, in Primary school. Sigh ... miss my teachers, wish I'd been more appreciative and let them know what they meant to me.
Feel so f-cking grateful to have been born and raised in '80s England. Loved the times, the people and the experience. Very sad to watch the changes, over these past 3 decades, that have overtaken England.
Yes I agree
My 3 yr old son, who has went through a lot. When he had his first seizure the other week, first thing I did I put this on when he was at the hospital and he reconised the song straight away. He loves this song. He wiggles and claps his hands when he hears this song play ❤
Aw bless, he's only 3 and he recognises 80s classics, that lad will go far.
@@richallenxbox1976 thank you for your kind words. I always play music around him and soon as he hears them his always dancing.
"Don't let your indecision take you from behind."
Interesting lyric, that one.
The whole song is full of innuendo.
Some of us don't mind a bit of indecision from time to time.
oooo errrr missis
"You gotta pull it out" lol
@@stephanx2384 it's put it out. But the other lyrics are dodgy lol.
Got to admit this song has certainly stood the test of time, sounds even better after all these years
Still playing this song in 2020, who else is listening?
Me 🙂
Meee always have 😀
Me.. I'm still Listening in September 2020
Best song of the 1980s
Bucks Fizz are a fun group. ✔ 🎵 😁
the great thing about this is,,, that they nailed the choreography,, even though its simple,,, they're singing their lungs out on stage, but the moves are perfect, not one of them messes up,,,,, 10/10 BucksFizz
They're not singing this live. They're lip syncing to the recorded track.
This song started playing while I was walking through Coles the other day.. took all my strength to not start busting a move up and down the aisles! Love this song! So many happy childhood memories 💛
🤝
Isn't it funny--that so much time has to pass, before you really get to enjoy and remember vintage songs in all their glory, Its why i love CZcams.
totally im on an eighties play list n i remember hating most of the disco shit but some of these are actually bloody great songs
@@mcfcguvnors I remember when this was chosen as the Eurovision entry and I was thinking how silly it was; took my beloved guitar teacher to point out to me that it kind of sounds like Fleetwood Mac, my favourite band :)

Well the good thing is each decade has enough great music to last you a lifetime, you can safely ignore modern music if you want to.

🙂 I remember watching this on Top of the Pops (when I was 11) as the entry for the Eurovision song contest hopefuls. I remember how "scandalous" it seemed when the skirts were ripped off. There was a huge energy about them and everyone in the UK went nuts when they won the Eurovision. How time has flown!
Incidently, Cheryl Baker said that when the guy ripped off the part of the skirt, he actually caught her skin as well, hence why she looked at him oddly
I remember watching it as a kid too.. didnt know what I was feeling at the time.. I do now.

It would have been a bit more difficult for the men to keep dancing if the ladies had pulled their pants down :)
Regarding the skirt ripping bit, 42 years later, the left would've had collective heart attacks, but it was the early 80s, no one cared.
40 yrs ago 😱😱 I'm feeling very old 😂😂😂😂

If only 😂😂😂😂
But people should feel theyself younger!
Ahhh❤️😱😱😱😂😂😂😂

Definitely gets my feet moving . Good song for the day. Brings back so many good memories. Loved this song .
Why songs like this are so popular can be seen when in the numerous quiz shows on TV a question on 70s or 80s Eurovision is answered in a split second.
Yet when any modern stuff is in a question you often sees younger quizzes look blank.
Bucks Fizz were an example of a group that made happy music and probably little money.
Even though the group members always appeared to have their heads screwed on, record companies seemed to rule the roost until the Spice Girls emerged fifteen years later.
Society would probably more happier if music like this was regularly recorded.
I was really sad to hear about Jay's throght cancer ,glad they caught it early and has recovered from it

They look so distressingly wholesome!
Cheryl was always my favorite. There was just something about her I absolutely loved. I was 14 when they won the Eurovision Contest, and immediately liked them.
Iirc, they were a conscious attempt at creating a "British ABBA", no?
I think I recall the skirt reveal, and watching Cheryl more closely. As an 8yr old, I had rather refined tastes!
This is what it is all about ain't it. Pure talent not jacked up by electronic distortion.
This was a time when music was music and not just crappy noise.
As I remember, they made a right pig's ear of the performance on the night, but the song was upbeat and catchy enough to win!
Memories of watching this on Eurovision night in my parents caravan aged 8 ...good memories.
Thats the only good thing about this song, late spring 81, 14 years old great days and the world was a better place 40 years ago.

Manager: Try it like ABBA!

Голосами, они конечно не дотягивают до ABBA, особенно до Агнетты, и пусть с в том числе музыкальным талантом Бенни они не сравняться, но все же у них получилось!Такая ABBA-понарошку.
Love how the crowd are really bopping along as well.
My parents pick on me for liking this song. I don't care it's catchy 😜👍😊
krissi king Speaking as a Baby Boomer in his Sixties your parents are acting like jerks , Do they prefer the Kardashians ? I can still enjoy this and have my Led Zeppelin and Sopranos when I am in the mood. People who make fun of this don't understand the hard work and talent and practice that goes in to producing a number like this. Tell your parents that Leatherface and Pennywise are coming for them if they don't back off because I happen to know that they like this too !

Brilliant song that still sounds just as exciting as the first time I heard it all those years ago; simple songs are always the best and the most powerful, and the skirt ripping was a good idea; great music and lyrics that are so good it makes you want to sing along, and it makes you feel so good doing it!
Oh yay, Cheryl is the bees knees. 🤩🤩
Love Jay too!
Love the little key changes, it makes it sound so fresh and great melodies and they were so good when music was happy and fun.
When I was a wee kid I used to sing this and do the impressions 😂my mum loved it and at their parties 🎉 I was the entertainer 😊
Shame we don’t have the greats like the fizz for Eurovision!
I KNOW
Hmmm, for all the difference it would make to the votes for the United Kingdom (where I am from). Anyone with eyes and functioning brain cells can tell Eurovision is politically influenced.
Takes me back to Australia every time I hear it. And I still have this on a cassette tape that I listen to!
My cousin sent this to me and said: "put it on max speed" so I did... It was funny!
I still love Mike's happy-face though.
They could of been the band of the 80s if that bus didn't crash . Still listen to them though . Thank you CZcams .
1981 Eurovision winner with Cheryl Baker, Mike Nolan, Bobby G and Jay Aston. They moved on from this and had 20 UK charting singles in the 80's, including three #1's. Not bad for a band thrown together just to sing one song. This one was never released in America, and they never really broke through here, but the music was excellent and I have all five albums, plus an anthology collection and their latest one as "The Fizz", released last year.
One of the ten best pop songs ever made.
Yeap
This song is still a classic but imagine this song back on the radio
