    I wish Bucks Fizz was more of a success in the USA back in the 80’s! I heard of them over 40 years ago but only bc I was a Radio DJ in Ohio at the time and we received their records in the mail. We weren’t supposed to air their songs bc it was against station policy….however I played them anyway and listeners really liked their sound🤗👍

    • @mickfizz1
      @mickfizz1 Před 10 lety +3

      The only ''proper'' Bucks Fizz was only when 4 of the original members of the band were still singing and recording together in the 1980's That is, with either Jay or with Shelley. Once both of them were gone, it was then Mike, Cheryl and Bobby only for a short time as the ''real'' Bucks Fizz. Having only one original band member does not make the band authentic or proper!

    • @tennis5011

      @@chrisjames6327 Totally disagree...Yes, poverty was more rife. However, we had a much more equal society. There was a much less gap between the "haves" and the "have nots". Plus, poverty always gives a stronger sense of community. You only have to look at poorer nations for that. Something that we don't have today. People dying of HIV/Aids?? Then people should simply keep their cocks in their trousers and their anuses firmly closed. People knew the consequences of their hedonistic actions. So, no excuses there!! As for racism?? The far right was merely a blip on a piece of paper in the 80s. With a country ready to embrace Liberalism and EU membership firmly ensured...Unlike today, when the reverse is the case. Conservative governments (like in the 80s) always bring peace. Labour governments (like in the 70s and 90s/00s always bring war. You have a think about that Chris...

      Wonders I think Mike said he thought it was released too early in their career, but Cheryl kinda argued that if it had been released later, it probably wouldn’t have been a big hit cos their fans had moved on by then. I think they all had kind of a love-hate relationship with MYMU cos while it shot them to fame, it made credibility difficult cos everyone kinda expected their following hits to be in the same style. Land of Make Believe was a real turning point for them, One Of Those Nights didn’t do so well, but Land put them right back at the top. Totally agree re ‘80s, no decade like it. I don’t even follow today’s charts, such as they are, don’t know any of the tracks on Now compilations!

    This is my favourite album of bucks fizz it being back some good memories when I was at school from amanda

  • @jamiewarriorwarlordmccallu5712

    great 80's track, always liked this one, and bucks fizz was a great band, and mike nolan real nice guy, glad he survived a brain tumor a few years back, real good song, and not 80's pop crap, better than the pop of today.

    They were only around from 1981 to 1986 in popular culture and they faded away but youtube keeps their light shining.

      READYTEDDYBEAR Their last single Heart Of Stone, later covered by Cher was released in 1988, but flopped, only reached #50 or thereabouts. Cheryl, Mike and Jay continued as a trio in the early 90s on the cabaret circuit, Butlins etc even releasing a live album for their tenth anniversary. Cheryl left in ‘93 to have her children, then Mike and Bobby continued for a while with various line ups. It’s all a bit complicated, look on Wikipedia lol. Mike, Cheryl and Jay now perform as The Fizz and have recently released a new album Smoke & Mirrors.
