- Turbos are great! But that boost comes after some lag while the turbo spools up. Some high performance cars are equipped with ANTILAG systems to keep those turbos spinning away! They pop and bang to keep their sweet sweet turbos spooled up! They’re the darlings of Drifting and Rally! We break down the two kinds of antilag systems you’re most likely to encounter, and we compare them with the also awesome two step rev limiting. All of them sound awesome and can shoot flames!

Old prop planes basically use car engines and some have turbos..but with windspeed I’m sure there’s a work around to use air to spool it if it’s even needed since they are at a high rpm almost all of the time

older jdm Evos came with a baby version of anti lag straight from the factory :)
it wasnt activated on the ecu but it was installed for homologation rules. it was an SAS system like you described. (supplementary air system)
you can turn it on on the stock ecu with just a laptop for some nice pops and bangs :)

Actually a lot of that was wrong. He got anti lag right by not really expanding anything about it. He got rolling anti lag and 2 step mixed up in the same thing. 2 step won’t help your boost

I programmed in a two-step via my HP Tuners . I programmed it to match my stall converter at 2500 and launch at 3xxx rpm . I get hella good launches . With HP I can just change the rolling idle parameters to help keep it spooled . But I don't , because I drag race . I'm pretty sure in other types of racing , the safest way to stay spooled would be to program your clutch in ( if you drive a manual ) rolling idle vs. throttle position parameter to keep the turbo spooled up . Think clutch in on the brakes engine idle at 2800 . When not rolling your engine idle would be whatever your normal setting is . All this is dependent on getting your stoichiometric air fuel ratio and your volume entering and your spark advance and your power enrichment tables all operating together and having the numbers set to where they correspond properly . You don't want your base air fuel ratio to be at 14.2 and then your PE ( power enrichment ) set at 12.6 and 1000 RPM . Then you're just taking a big rich dump because you're not allowing your AFR to climb properly in correlation with your PE table . Which means you lose gobs a power .
