My Dad had a Used Appliance business on the East/South side of Allegheny Ave. It was next to the produce store. If someone was loitering too much or doing drugs in a noticeable area around a business, cops gave them 2 choices, Frankford detox or detox in jail overnight. I don't understand why they don't do that anymore.
The jails are over crowded and understaffed.
They can't just send everyone to county jail.

That was always a rough neighborhood back in the 80s and 90s. But now it's not even safe. Between the woke out-of-towners gentrifying Philly and the crime. I could never live in Philly again. Not the city I grew up in...

My grandmother passed a few years ago and grandfather a couple yrs b4 her, any time I'm in the vicinity of their house they bought when they moved to Florida (I was a baby) BUT I ALWAYS drive by it❤ That house hold so many of my childhood memories. Used to be a "needle park" in Manhattan back in the early 70s. I went to HS in the neighborhood & addicts & methadone clinics were the norm. Now you'd never know the place was that bad back in the day. It's so gentrified & overpriced
Captain, did you see the film FIGHTING BACK with Tom Skerrit? It was made 43 years right in this area around the park etc. It was about the same situation. I guess they needed Philly as a locale because of the ROCKY mania.
The authorities still haven't caught up with that moped drivin' son-of-a -gun who shot three people after crashing his ride on E Allegheny back on May 23rd.
I heard that officer is still on life support, hope he makes it but I'm not optimistic. The pos who shot him needs to do hard time for a long time
