- Corruption exists everywhere, but in America, how corrupt have the federal government and the agencies that run our country become? Today, we meet with First Amendment attorney Benjamin Barr to stroll around Washington, D.C., to better understand government corruption, learn how our tax dollars are used, and discover more about how America operates behind the scenes.

Correction from Shanna:
I erroneously omitted that I was employed by the NIAID branch of the NIH, whose specialized focus was allergens and infectious disease research. NIH is made up of over two dozen institutes and Dr. Fauci was director of the specific institute that I worked for, not overarching umbrella of NIH. That said, it was not an internship as a few concluded, but a GS ranked job as a grants management specialist with accruals/benefits that would have extended if I had chosen to remain. When speaking later I mention a separate internship the context of which didn't make the cut due to video editing needs.

1. The Department of Homeland Security regularly purchases social media data from third-party vendors to spy on Americans. This is known as the “data broker loophole” because purchasing data instead of seizing it does not implicate the Fourth Amendment protection against such activity. Senators Rand Paul (R-Kentucky) and Ron Wyden (D-Oregon) have put forth a bipartisan bill to end this. Sources supporting this claim:

We are taught from out very childhood to make a name in the world, to become famous, well-known, successful, a prime minister or a president, a Nobel prize winner - but somebody special, somebody. Every child is poisoned with the idea of being somebody, and the reality is we are all nobodies. And the reality is tremendously beautiful! Just being nobody brings such joy and ecstasy that one cannot even imagine it. Fame brings nothing. It is a very stupid game, very childish and immature.
My definition of real achievement is that which cannot be taken away by death. Anything that can be taken away by death is not a real achievement but only a pseudo achievement, toys to play with.
Become a nobody from this moment and enjoy the freedom that it brings. Become anonymous and see the joy! There is no worry, no anxiety. Because there is no ego you don't feel hurt. Nothing can hurt you. Somebody can insult you and you can stand there watching and enjoying it because there is nobody inside you to feel hurt, there is nobody to be wounded. You can enjoy and laugh.
The day a man can enjoy and laugh while he is being insulted he has already attained something, he has become part of eternity. He has entered into the world of the immortals.

I went on a tour of the capitol building a few years ago. The young lady giving the tour said when she walks around there she can " feel the power". I whispered to my friend "I feel the corruption". She heard me and gave me a dirty look.

Millions of dollars unaccounted for, yet, if I'm late on a credit card payment, I'm charged 45.00 and constant phone harassment.
The sooner you can eliminate credit card debt in general, the better off you’ll be. Use Debit cards instead. It is the EXACT same protections as credit cards now, so there is no reason not to. Also when relying on debit cards, you will be much more disciplined on spending as credit cards make it easy to go on spending sprees in comparison.
@@someoneelse6934horrible advice lol
Don't you mean..... TRILLIONS OF DOLLARS.?
Your signature "created" the credit, so why are you "paying it back"?
@@someoneelse6934 this is incorrect, debit cards do NOT have the same protections. If you need to dispute charges on a debit card due to stolen account information, you DONT have the money while the dispute is going on. On a credit card, you dont pay interest during the dispute, and you still have all the money in your bank account.
When traveling, you NEED a credit card for protection. It is not being more disciplined if you are using a debit card to stop over spending. That's a lack of discipline.

I am employed as a county elections official in Oregon and I was nodding along at nearly every point made during the video. I personally attest that you can change the name on your elected official's office door and it does not mean a thing.
I have seen immoral, unethical, and illegal acts from the county all the way up to the Secretary of State. These acts and patterns of behavior are committed by people who span the entire political spectrum; who are incompetent, corrupt, or have a 'mother knows best' attitude - or some combination thereof. Internally, they are very derisive of voters. You, the voter, are the obstacle. You, the voter, get in the way of the process. Long gone are the days when the process existed as the means to serving the voter. It is perverse that the voter - the private citizen - is the means to the process.

I worked for three branches of the US Government for 30 years. I can confirm that everything spoken in this video is accurate.
I worked for one branch of the federal government and I affirm the table conversation to also be bullseye accurate. I was a hard worker, took my job seriously really wanting to make a good impression when I first got the job. Same thing happened to me, I handed my work in to my supervisor at the end of the week and proceeded to tell me he needs to talk to me with this look on his face like he was unhappy with my work. He then told me I had to stop doing all this work, slow down, you're making the reat of us look bad. So what I completed in that week, got spread over a month. One week's work for a month's pay. Crazy. There was a big ick factor to that. Also, the per diem story, bullseye accurate, as well. I was told the same.
So much waste of the hardworking taxpayer's money. But, it will never change. I guarantee that. You don't know until you know.

One of the main problems I have with D.C. is that government workers are not a good representation of both Democrats and Republicans. Most surveys show that overwhelmingly they vote for one political party. This is a real problem. Unelected people making decisions impacting everyone. And, obviously in one specific direction.
Just to remind you guys, this corruption/overspending model is also replicated in other countries, not just US. Important thing the lady said - they treat this money as government money and not public money. Big difference...
Yes, many places are corrupted by USA/EU. But USA parades around as the great upstanding one. Hypocritical exceptionalism.
That's not an argument or excuse.
So are you saying that it makes it ok then?
That's why it's CORRUPT!
There are three major candidates in the presidential race only one addresses the bureaucracy and he's not a republican or democrat
As an Air Force veteran, I experienced the “Use it or lose it” method of budgeting. On one hand, we could not order parts to maintain equipment but, on the other hand, there was always excess money available for facility improvements. At one point, I was told to order new wallpaper for our office 5 years in a row (otherwise we’d lose the money next year). I asked why we couldn’t take the money earmarked for facility improvements and use it for ordering equipment parts. I was told, nope, can’t do it because it’s from different budgeting “baskets”.
It's the same in private corporations. I just blew $10000 on travel reservations because we needed to spend the money in Q2 or lose it forever. If I had told them that the travel is not really needed but I would appreciate a $5000 bonus instead of spending the $10000 it would have been impossible.
It's the same with our city govt. They are about to rip up many yards and block local roads, and make a lot of noise for a long time, to build new, ugly modern bridges that will replace the beautiful, old bridges with character that we love. They admit the current bridges are in fine condition, but say if they don't spend the money, it will have to be returned and they won't get it back. This is so twisted.

Having worked for the Federal government for decades, I believe one of the biggest problems is the inability to hire honest, hard working AND and experienced public servants/employees with the people of the world in their best interest, not themselves. America continues down a path of Me Me Me, including some people wanting higher offices. As a Federal Employee I always had the mission of the agency and the public as my number one priority. I certainly did not become rich as a Fed Employee nor was that ever my goal. Until people realize that life is not only about them but rather others and the planet we will continue to have problems.
Somewhat tangential but one of the nasty side effects of the individual above all else thing is it whittles everyone down to a single retail unit. A group of 'individuals' is the easiest to exploit in all kinds of ways. Much tougher to take on a unified populace that can set aside some differences they may have--teaming up works. The greatest power we have is our numbers.

Amen. I loved George. I wish more people understand the point he was making, so many people are neck deep in partisanship. I despise it. None of these people, either party, care about the people. Even if you loyally tick the box with the same letter and send donations You. Aren't. In. The. Party.
Atty. Benj Barr rocks! He’s a good man, informing us the truth! 💯🔥
I have to admit I spent a good portion of My life looking the other way where government was concerned I am also one of the most skeptical non trusting people and I have zero trust in it since COVID. Another great D.C. video Peter
I worked for the government for 35 years. I always said if the public only knew how the government is run, they would be appalled.
Yup, and if you speak up, you're out a job; have to not think about the corruption going on behind the scenes. I worked a gov't job in Canada, started speaking up about the bullshit politics going on. Next thing you know, there was "restructuring" in just the office I worked in & I was the only one it affected. I could've been planning my retirement right now but now I'll be working till the day I die.
We know now a little late
We do.
Not appalled, now were loading mags.

I'm only in there for 5 more years then I'm retiring. It's gonna be a long 5 years. I can relate to her experience unfortunately.
The deeper you get into this, the more it pisses you off. I would gladly take my mind back to 10 years ago, when I was politically ignorant, and thought that electing a black president who was probably the best speaker we've ever had, was the right thing to do. Little did I know, he was just as corrupt as every other one.
I agree with you. I'm a political atheist because nothing actually changes.
You are wrong... Obama wasn't corrupt at all... To blind accuse everyone of "corruption" is lazy
You are wrong.... Obama was not corrupt...it's lazy to just accuse everyone of corruption
Yes - and responsible for signing off on the reversal of mainstream media sources not being legally allowed to use propaganda on it's citizens since the end of world war 2 ....now, they're *legally allowed* to lie to us....thanks, Obama! 👍

Love to see Benjamin again. Remember him so well! He seems like a good guy!
He is one of the very few!
This Video should be Played in Full un-cut on TV over & over again
I fell into rabbit hole called Pete’s videos and I have no regrets. Much appreciation from Lithuania.

People need to keep in mind, the US has SO many issues, but the fact that we can make an hour long video in the capital calling out and explaining its corruption is a freedom many people on this earth don’t have. I’m not backing this government, I can’t stand it. Everything about this video makes me so damn upset it’s honestly hard to finish. But if change ever will happen, it comes through things like this. More people waking up to the fact that “no, the government does not like you. It doesn’t have your back. In all cases it flat out hates you”. I’m just grateful for one thing and that being our freedom to discuss it. Our freedom of speech. Another great video Peter
Completely agree with you. Time to make government small again and let the people govern the people!! The government is obese!
Just don't critique our greatest Allie in the middle east and you'll be fine👍
Agreed. You couldn't do this in certain other countries BIG TIME.
Amen.
Agree and well said....it's going to get worse before it gets better.
Benjamin you are a gem. Thank you for shedding the light on some truth..............
This guy should be on tour! Educating the population. Wow. Thank you for the incredibly insightful information.
This whole thing is why this place is messed up so badly. Corrupt people. Evil people. The one who has the gold rules. It's disgusting.
Feel free to do more videos with Benjamin. We love this guy! He comes with facts and receipts.
This is what the US needs..more journalism like this and very happy to see most of the comments are feeling the same.
People in history would go to war for being taxed too much. These days, people ask for more!
Government held jobs are full of nepotism and corruption. I love this interview.
The jewels dropped by Benjamin are priceless. I am wiser hearing him.

Thank you for shedding light upon the immoral conduct within the US Federal Government of today. To paraphrase a line from Don Henley's Dirty laundry: You don't want to know how bad it has become.
However, the evidence speaks for itself.

Peter, it is so refreshing to see real journalism, and investigation into the real nitty gritty of the USA.
Outstanding job sir!
Well real journalism would make an in-depth study with different sources and work through that over a certain period, not Walk around with one Guy for a day. Peter himself said he didn't consider himself a journalist, or his work journalism.

This gentleman needs to be, at least, a presidential advisor.
When she said she left because she couldn't stand working somewhere her tax dollars were being wasted, shows the good people leave and the system is designed to weed out and get the good people to leave.

OUTSTANDING and REALLY GLAD you are covering this topic. This is what caused my family to leave our careers in 2013 and move to the country to start a 1200 regenerative agriculture operation- focusing on supporting the local level and creating resilience in the community due to the issues we saw coming as a result of what was going on in DC…. At the time people wouldn’t talk about what you are covering now. Keep up the great work!!!!!
Good for you!!!!
I just finished watching Attorney Ben Barr live arguing in front of the 9th Cricut court of appeals En Banc in Seattle Washington. I was extremely impressed with his arguments and the fight to protect our 1st amendment rights to record in public that the Oregon statue adamantly would like to sweep away.
Little dude can represent me anytime. He should be our next Attorney General but having another Barr in that role might be a hard pill for some Americans lol. Great video Peter and great guests.

This is one of Peter’s best interviews and the couple he interviewed were very honest. It is good to know what our government is doing.
The DHS spent 100 million dollars on electric vehicles that they did not even use ?...And I thought, back in the day, that money spent on overpriced government toilets was bad. No comparison.
Where the vehicles now?
That was the 1st thing I thought of too, the toilets! That was so long ago, it’s mind blowing to think of all the waste throughout the years! 🤯🫣😡
Benjamin is great! I could listen to him for hours!! If he had been my Constitutional Law prof I would have learned so much more. I also agree with his wife. I have worked in similar places where the motto was "spend it or lose it". Great Video!

It is the ppls $$!! Love his couple & Peter
Many people seem to think the government creates money. If that were true, the Pilgrims would have unloaded a dollar printing machine on Day 1 and wouldn't have had to do anything but search for ink. The money represents work and accomplishment. We once had the gold standard so that U.S. dollars could not be created out of thin air, had to be tied to a real store of value. Without that, we have inflation.
What lovely people Benjamin and Shanna are; and such interesting conversation. Thank you for interviewing them, Peter. A breath of fresh air!
What a wake up call!. That guy needs to run for office!
It's such a good interview format, walking while discussing very serious matters about the place... I love this channel
This episode with Benjamin made me like him a whole lot more. He's a feisty and a little cocky when necessary, which are not necessarily bad traits (time, place, & condition). I learned a bit from this guy last time and even more this round. Thanks, Peter.
"Ahhhhhhhh D.C.... Corruption at its finest."
D.C. - Deep Corruption 😅
I pray more people wake up to how corrupt our federal government has become.
Incredible video. I work for a state agency and to be forthcoming -- everything he says happens at the state level as well. Employee numbers going up, budgets going up, everyone works in silos and doesn't speak to other agencies, you're penalized for going above and beyond and/or pointing out issues and discrepancies with the system, etc. A lot of people don't want to make any noise about it because obviously we have our salaries, pensions, and livelihoods on the line. It's a tough line to walk across and it's not surprising this bleeds into federal government as well.
Thanks to Peter and his Wife, who does all the editing, your video content is informative and educational, and they've been "eye openers." So glad we get to hear and see all sides of issues and concerns.
Thank you. Keep going! You're doing a great service! 👍
Thank you so much! And Natalia thanks you too, so much of the work is done by her behind the scenes.
I just wish we could do something about this!
@@shirleykurtz Look into all your candidates. Not just for big elections like presidential, general, and midterms. Also look at local politicians, like mayor, governor, state legislators, etc. Find real, factual, verifiable sources. Pretty much all mainstream media, on both sides (yes Fox and Cnn) are owned by a corporation or a billionaire, and are managed by rich executives with their own goals and interests. They will warp stories to manipulate us to vote the way they want us to. GroundNews is a great website that shows both sides of a particular topic. It gives sources for both sides, rates their factuality, and highlights "blind spots" that neither side is covering. Usually the blind spots have to deal with topics that these corporations and billionaires don't want us to know about, so neither side of the media talks about it.

GREAT insight without blaming/accusing according to political affiliation. (yes, I noticed the edit.) BOTH "sides" are complicit in the systemic bloat and rot of our government.
