- Burnley went into their final game of the 1986/87 season knowing only a win could save them from relegation to the Vauxhall conference and even that might not be enough.
Relegation could and probably would have seen the Clarets disappear from existence due to the financial state of the club.

@petetheclaret very true,i think we were very lucky that season to stay up.And to mthink some were moaning when we were relegated out the premiership last season.

My favourite ever Burnley player. When i was younger he was just such an exciting winger who got the ball and took players on. Even though we have climbed leagues since and football has changed, he truly was superb.
