      Ya I agree, he got me to stop f*ing around in vanilla. So I bought hardops/cutter bundle and started their rover course now. Life is better. Even just for fun cutting the default cube is highly satisfying once you get the hang of it. Currently learning all the add on tools first before attempting the rover.

    @GeneralKenobi69420 Před 2 lety

    This is really great but I have questions if you don't mind, in the beginning you clone faces from the wheel as a base for the rubber parts, but isn't that suboptimal in terms of polygon count, since you have now 2 faces that are basically useless (the inner face of the rubber part and the outer face of the wheel)? Also in this case you start with a cylinder because the finished object obviously loosely looks like one, but what if it really doesn't look like any base mesh, like a spaceship or whatever? I have the feeling that if you start with a cube and just extrude/boolean your way out of everything without paid add-ons it's going to be real messy real quick...

    • @PonteRyuurui
      @PonteRyuurui  Před 2 lety

      nah it wont, you just need to know how to control it, besides, i model differently for renders and diff for game assets. we have courses on game assets with bool based meshes. www.blenderbros.com/blender-bros-anniversary-sale-2022

    @lookiyamv69 Před 3 lety +2

    Hi! I just finished following the tutorial! Thanks for that! I just have a question: Since I'm just a beginner, I would like to know if you would suggest this boolean workflow to make game assets? I mean, this workflow would be good for UV unwrapping and Texturing in Substance Painter?

    • @PonteRyuurui
      @PonteRyuurui  Před 3 lety +1

      For hard surface yes, just triangulate the mesh before exporting to SP and deal with any issues in Blender after triabgulation.

    • @lookiyamv69
      @lookiyamv69 Před 3 lety

      @@PonteRyuurui Thanks a lot! I Just finished solving all the shading issues in Blender... Now I will try to triangulate, Uv and export in Substance! Thanks again! Maybe when I will have all the basics set down I'll include the plugins in the workflow!

    is 100 vertices on the cylinder the same as 99 edges ?
    and how do you decide from the beginning how many edges something should have before you begin modelling ?

    • @PonteRyuurui
      @PonteRyuurui  Před 3 lety +1

      If each vert is connected to an edge then 100 verts is 100 edges. There are 99 faces though. Experience or just mood, I think how big the thing will be and make a decision. Rim will need far more verts than a screw.
