Wanna learn blender modeling? Forget about donuts , this is the best beginner tutorial I've ever watched.
Keep up the good work.
no more donuts needed. Only coffee instead!
BROTHER DONUT TEACHES U MORE THAN MODELING
Nah this is not a good beginners tutorial at all. It’s a good tutorial on how to do that cup.
This did not cover every features in blender but the donut do 70% of it
Just what i need! a Hard-Surface Modeling Guide 😁 Thank you Mr.Louis and CGBoost Community
The best modeling beginner tutorial I've ever watched
The way you explain each step with a beginner friendly way is amazing. Love the way you take time to take us step by step through the process. Thank you
This is one of the most comprehensive and simple tutorial about using the blender modeling tools I have seen I love it

no it's not, i was constantly googling things because he didn't explain anything, took me 4 hours to get through

Thank you for putting this together!
The method of explanation and audio performance, as well as the huge amount of information I got in this video, made me can't believe that I watched this lesson for half an hour in one breath without even blinking.
You are really great and the best teacher
You are a lovely best teatcher
thank you straight to the point and a good speed of explaination, not too fast or slow!
You guys are amazing, thank you!
Thank you! This is the best blender tutorial I have ever seen for users that for example come from another 3d software or are already using blender and working with it, but have not made most out of it´s fantastic user interface design! Perfect pace, not a second of lost time in this fast track world! :) And such a nice aesthetic! Haha, just read all the similar comments underneath! Well, that speaks for itself!
So satisfying to watch. I’ve been using a blender for a while but I love to watch good quality tutorials in case I pick up any gems and this certainly does not disappoint. Fantastic tutorial. Thank you for sharing. ❤
Great thorough tutorial. Even for those who have many hours of blender under their belt.
Very well explained!
I love this short form content. Great supplement to your more detailed tutorial work 💪
Thank you for this tutorial, it’s help me with a better understanding of the shrink wrap modifier and a few other minor things 🙏
the shrink-wrap tip is so awesome!
I think use it in a variety of ways, when want to connect only a part of it. It's a really good tip.
This is my first time delving into hard surface modeling and this is amazing! You've taught me so many fundamental concepts I didn't even know existed!
amazing work
Your tutorial is the best tutorial to learn basics of blender in a profound and fun
Thank you so much, very helpful tutorial
This is a very well made tutorial. Good use of shortcuts and good explanation.
I first heard of Louis Du Mont when I got the Robotic Planet course. I’m a big fan now.
Thanks great tutorial! Cheers.
I had been wondering about the 'Slice' option in booleans for years...
Thank you!
the ctrl-2 shortcut had me baffled. I had no idea it existed. I've used blender for 9 years, with addons designed to speed up hard-surface modeling. Just goes to show that periodic refreshers can uncover some small, but useful timesavers that I've missed.
I looove this.
good job, clear and smooth ! Thank U !
This is why I always watch anything even a beginners tutorial even after almost 15 years of 3D modeling and 6 with blender, I learned about the "y" shortcut to "yank" faces, I was always doing edge loops and "v", you can always learn something everyday
Yeah, that's so true! I do the same. Every artist have its own little tricks :)
~ Masha
thank you very much , it has so much usefull elements in it !
I loved it, thanks
First time in my life I did something from first try, and I love it😍
Solid explanation, make it look so easy
Excellent tutorial!
This is an excellent tutorial!
Love you for this tutorial ❤❤❤❤❤
good tutorial.thank louis
You are a good teacher sir. Thank you.
I love this teacher ! simple exemple for create a lot of thing =)
Nice work
Awesome video
learnt a lot from this tutorial, thank you so much
Learned many new tricks in this video. Thanks!
Thank you!!! You need to make more of this hard-surface modeling videos. This made me much more better at modeling. I will come back after one year and tell my progres.
there is his course which is very useful
This is so good ❤
Your teaching is really good and I can say that it is a friendly tutorial
You made subd modelling look like a walk in the park. Well done, sir.
Thank you VERY MUCH!
Fish Cam Bots is done and incredible! Another tutorial Louis please!
Decent tut, covers loads. Thanks man.
Great tutorial! Followed your instructions and everything worked as expected. I was able to branch out and make the legs a little more interesting using the concepts shown in the video. Best tutorial for modeling a complete object I have come across so far.
Thanks for the nice feedback ^^
What kind of cup has a round bottom, those legs were made with spite
It’s got legs so doesn’t need a flat base. Round butt looks cool too. ❤😂
Well my friend, it's for the sake of explaining
The tutorial was amazing for beginners thanks to him for that
You can try any shape you like
Peace and love
Amazing video. 😮😮😮😮
... I was about to start typing, then an add popped up... "yes it gives you stuff fast",.. these algorithms.. Thank you sir.. it's a time saver gem.
very good tut. thx
very nice tutorial!
That was really fun ..thank you
Great!!!
Thanks!
great👍
This is incredible..
I hope someday i can do something like this
The best of the best
Thanks for this fun educational dose
I am a complete beginner and I was able to apply this lesson without any problem
You are the best teacher for Blender
Very nice. Very very nice.
Thank you for making such a comprehensive tutorial for hard-surface modeling. I look forward to actually working through it and then moving on to the more advanced course.
Nice. I never thought to use shrinkwrap on just selected faces to merge parts like that.
lovely cup o' drug
I really struggle with modeling but I could follow your instructions so easily. Thank you so much, I appreciate it :) greetings from Brazil

Agradeço demais por este tutorial, aprendi inúmeras coisas e com certeza irei aplicá-las em meu projeto.
A delight !
The best part is how good it looks with Eevee as a render
oke, coffee cup done :p now he needs to learn to walk :0) , loved this small Tutorial
nice tutorial
holy shit, i've been using Blender since 2.78 and literally never tried that Add Primitive tool you use at 17:50. i had no idea you could add objects 3ds max style without add-ons.
good work .
Fantastic tutorial! Thank you so much for providing it!

Thanks for using vanilla Blender😊
quick shortcut for the quad sphere, if you ad in a cube and press CTRL+ (number) you will get a subdivided cube divided to the number you pressed. you can then apply the modifier, i think its a little less confusing then the way he showed
thanks for the tip! :)
~ Masha
Im pretty sure he knows this but for the people in the comments, there are a lot of shortcuts that you can use for view and a lot of other stuff he did in this video
For example the view
If you press 1 in your numbpad you get the frontview
Press 3 and you get a sideview
Press 7 and you get a top view
Press 9 and you get the inverse of whatever view you have
So 1 + 9 would be backview
3 + 9 would be the other side view
And 7 + 9 would be bottom view
Thanks for the tips!

hi there, a simply and quick one. Do we always need click the "apply" each time we have done set the modifier?
These no need to click apply in this context, in fact it's handy to keep the modifiers 'live' in case we want to change anything at a later date.
In 2:05, goes to wireframe mode doesn't include the X-Ray mode, that's one a little confused me, you need to change to X-Ray as well before selecting the faces for deleting.
Great tutorial! I would only suggest to explain WHAT you do and WHY (imho, it helps to better understand the procedure) instead of listing shortcuts and telling HOW you perform an operation. Btw, thanks!
Great tutorial. We don't have to combine meshes, making it continous? When does it matter?
You may want yo apply modifiers and combine meshes if you're transferring the model from program to program, or to a game engine, but in this case there's no particular reason to and having separate meshes with unique modifiers allows us to jump back in and amend things easily.
BESTTTT
super nice..
which recorder do you record this tutorial video?
Wow
I bought a video and I'm enjoying it a lot I'm so happy that there are Korean subtitles on CZcams, but I'm so sad that the lecture only supports English I'm waiting for the subtitle support to be updated soon
Sorry for that, unfortunately we only have eng subtitles for our courses and Teachable (the platform we use for streaming of our courses) haven't implemented the automatic translate yet as far as we know. We hope the will add this option soon.

Hi, I'm surprised every time I watch your course or Blender course. It seems like it's easy to produce a great-result. (Not at all in my hands). Thank you for the good video. I have a question. I'm a blender beginner and a longtime Maya user. Based on Maya standards, I think there are a lot of polygons in the result, is this because the blender can operate more polygons? Or is it to produce results faster? Usually, in Maya, if I'm going to make a similar result, I don't go with this much wire right before the wire that the Renderer makes. Of course, I understand that it's going to be similar to Maya in Modifier and Edit mode, but as a result, I think I see a lot of wires Did I misunderstand?
its because he has a good computer and its either cpu based (eevee) or gpu based (cycles) and its not cpu intensive because of how its rendered. For his example, he is showing you how to produce fast results rather than a performant model that has say 3k tris. He is around 20k tris.
Your tutorials are better than any paid ones. I admire your understanding of the polygon topology and the great idea of controlling with it. I will follow you as a true blender modeling teacher of mine.
Me too! I just watched two tutorials before looking at this one. The first was too fast, and the guy had a very thick accent making it hard to understand. The second one was a little slower but still not as clear as this CG Boost video. This is very well done!
Hi, what do you think can be the problem if after changing shrinkwrap to project and choosing x axis the handle is not touching the cup anymore?
Great ! Thank you so much !
9:35, may I ask why we need to loop cut? How is it increasing control resolution?
Hi, this is helpful to have some more vertices to snap on the cup by using the shrinkwrap modifier. Since the cup is rounded, if we don't have that loop, the handle part snapped to the cup wouldn't have enough geometry to properly stick to the shape.
~ Masha
❤
bravo, good tutorial, very inspiring. I learned few more thing as blender newbie!
as someone mostly interested in hard-surface and robotics modeling this helped a ton. This is like the perfect follow-up after the Donut tutorial.
at 17:35 when I add a Bevel to the cylinder it doesn't actually do anything, any idea why? Well, it does do SOMETHING but it mostly messes with the shading until I Harden Normals
im on 4.0.2
it worked the second time, could it have something to do with the direction of the crease? or is Mean Crease a fixed value?
@@HermanManly hi! great that it worked. Hard to say what was wrong without seeing the file. If you like, you can post it here in our community community.cgboost.com/home
~ Masha
17:29 shift + e not control + e :3
Why would one use shrinkwrap instead of simply moving the object to the surface?
My hypothesis is that it run smoothly/better with future animation/rigging?
this tutorial is amazing, thanks
Hi, thanks for your question! Using shrinkwrap allows you to quickly project an object or a part of an object on another object. In many cases it's more precise and quick the moving the object manually, especially if you need it to be aligned to the surface.
~ Masha
Hi, you can use addons to show the key pressed so it would be easier to follow along
Hi, you can see the pressed keys in the right lower corner of the screen.
~ Masha
can you make a tutorial on how to plan an interior with strict dimensions. For example planning a campervan layout. Until now I couldnt find anything which really targets on how to create objects which have to have certein dimensions.... would be really cool and helpful!
Hi, thanks for your suggestion. Unfortunately, we don't focus on that kind of modeling, but who knows maybe in future we will change.
~ Masha
@@cgboost no problem! Does this even make sense using blender for this kind of projects?
I am really new to this and planning camper interiors is my main goal…
@@deepwaterattracted709 softwares like rhino should be better for this kind of modeling. Anyway as far as I know you can do that in blender too, there are many artists that do jewelry for 3d printing, architecture projects etc, so it should be totally possible. You have tools like overlays that tell you the precise dimensions of the elements, or the Measure tool.
