    The Level 2 has that straighter mountain bike like handlebar. Rode a hybrid mountain bike with handlebars like that for years. Until I got tired of tennis elbow on one side and numb hands after long rides. The slightly hunched over posture also affected my neck to a mild degree, especially on long rides. Switched to a different bike with slightly different handlebars and those problems resolved. So when I looked at the Level 2 vs. the Pace 500.3, it was the handlebars and more erect posture that decided it for me. Bought the Pace.

      That Himalayan colour is beyond gorgeous. I watched a bike shop rep.try to sell it to a couple who had a bike at home & would be sharing the new bike as well. Even though it was his wife's bike really, he was all "Do I look like a pink bike guy?" Laughing. I wanted to say You should be. It is really your wife's bike & it is an absolutely gorgeous pink!". This from a girl who's not "a pink bike girl ". Laughing. Loudly.

    I was leaning to get the Level 2 and then get the 500.3 handlebars and stem installed for the riding position. However I did not like the colors. But your side by side helped me feel at ease to get the 500.3 instead even though it will cost me more to buy the rack and fenders. I just like the looks better on the 500.3. I think the battery looks easier to remove. I realized I don't need the front suspension for my first E-Bike and with a slightly lighter weight 500.3 will probably be a better bike. Thanks.

      I would say the level.2 you're definitely in more of a forward posture.
      The pace 500.3 and Aventure are more upright. If I had a guest maybe the 500 is the most upright but you can always get a adjustable stem for the Aventure

    Mike do you have a preference between the step-through vs. the step-over? I recall one of your first videos talking about the aventure and you had eluded to the ease in mounting your wife's step-through and you sort of hinted that you regretted not buying that format when buying your aventure. At 65 I'm getting ready to make the plunge into the ebike world and will be going with an Aventon....I don't like the color options available on the step-through models and love the color choices on the step-overs (go figure). Just wondered your feelings on this. Thx. -Steve-

    • @mikerochester
      @mikerochester  Před rokem +1

      I totally agree on the color that always seems to happen but at this point I probably would go with a step through only because It's much harder getting your leg over the end of the bike when you use a bike bag or anything on the back rack. I have the Level 2 I use the front shock on all the bad roads that seem to have cracks every two feet while riding. It does make a huge difference in the shock to the wrists when hitting the bumps. Maine roads kinda suck ..but I do love the bike .

    • @mikerochester
      @mikerochester  Před rokem

      @@crystalrain9016 You can even purchase a suspension stem.
      With the exception of The front suspension. The biggest difference is you'll be leaning forward on the level.2 versus sitting more upright on the pace models because they're more of a cruiser style handlebars that are adjustable.

    • @tpwilliams
      @tpwilliams Před 10 měsíci +3

      The guy at the bike store told me the Pace doesn't have front shocks because as a cruiser bike with a more upright riding style 80% of your weight is on the seat, where with the Level being more of a "hybrid" style and leaning more forward there is more weight on the front end. Also why it has a smaller seat and straighter handlebars etc. Guess it makes sense....

      Thanks Mike. I was originally looking at the Aventon Pace 500 V2 & from your video I realized that that model was a cadence sensor..You really helped me with this video. I was upgrading from a Hyper 700c that I am running into the ground (ride all year round including Canadian winters - destinations, laps around park/neighbourhoods for exercise &. errands including all.grocery shopping so ie. This is my car). From my 700c I knew I needed a sensor that knew I was & wanted to pedal hard and adjusted for that - ie. torque sensor. I could honestly care less about a throttle and I did about five test runs, many with throttles and I forgot to test them. Including the one on the bike I purchased, laughing.
      I had gone into the shop thinking I was going to buy the Gazelle Medeo.I wanted that one very badly. Also tried one of the newest NCMs. Many test runs, was in the shop for hours as this is a can't make a mistake kind of purchase..
      But unfortunately the fit was so off on the Gazelle for me & the NCM was one size & didn't feel big enough somehow (but what a fantastic bike) - my 700 c is huge. I also looked at the Level 2.
      The minute I got on the Pace.500.3 I just knew instantly. Years ago I took almost.two.months of various test drives to buy my Specialized Roll, same feeling of "that's it". I redid the test run on the Gazelle twice after that, including with my own seat. Because I wanted to work for me. It was better but still "off' for me.
      Because of you I knew everything I needed to know. Aventon names some of their bikes so similar (ie..Pace V2, .3 & Level.2) even the bike shop says it is hard to keep in their heads, and one of the reps told someone the 500.3 was a cadence sensor by accident.
      So I appreciate you & your review.
      And for anyone reading, please do test runs - you can think "this is my bike 💯" and the fit is awful.These are major purchases, even if one is well-off.

    Just got a Level.2 step thru for my wife. We like the fit and it looks great. Disappointed that PAS level 1 provides too much power... really difficult to ride slowly or match speed with my Rad City. This is a software issue and should be adjustable by the user! And even worse, if you want to ride slowly in PAS 0, the throttle doesn't work. Power onset seems somewhat jerky and stepped rather than smooth. We're hoping it might get a little better with break-in. Motor is also a bit more noisy than I'd like but that may be typical for geared hub motors.
