    For those with questions on size, just bought the 500.3 step through large frame. I’m 6’3 with 35 inseam and it fits well. Very comfortable and handlebars are perfect. Wanted the step over but at 67 my legs don’t go like that anymore. Tested the level 2 but handlebar placement not good and felt cramped. Love the torque sensor and the whole e-bike experience. Hey Scott. Appreciated the review and the information on the Pace 500.3. I wanted to offer some constructive feedback on trail etiquette though. You should always announce yourself when overtaking pedestrians with either your voice or a bell. It also courteous to slow down when passing. I’m a fan of e-bikes and think they are a revolutionary mobility option, however there are naysayers out there who want to restrict them. Sharing trails safely with other users will go a long to keeping e-bikes legal on trails. PSA over. Keep up with the good content!

      I was all set on buying a Level 2 as my first e bike. I’m 75 and this seems better suited. Is the step through frame actually larger on this bike than the Level 2? At nearly 6’2”, I thought I needed the step over in the level 2. Step through would better. My issue has also been hilly streets where I live. I’m about to go out and measure the grade. It seems the Pace 500.3 lacks shocks in front a plus for Level 2. I’m not planning any off road so I’ve pretty much ruled out the Aventure 2 even though it has bigger 750 W motor that would help on the hills. Trying to decide between these 3 bikes.

      I'm 5' 9" and this frame is a medium. I either asked for the wrong size or Aventon sent me the wrong size, but the bike still works. But I should have gotten a Large frame. You can see how high the seat post is. The bike still feels great. The medium frame that I have is good for up to 5'7." I figured with me being 5'9" it would be an issue but it wasn't. If you want the step thru you will be good to go even though you are just 1" taller than recommended.

    I think the price has increased a bit, currently around $1799 - but be careful - some resellers are adding a markup. It's a popular bike for good reason. It offers good value relative to its price point. We recently got one and now I'm considering getting another one. But, of course, nearly $2k with tax is no joke. We really enjoy this bike. Bike has wide tires for a street bike, so it might be closer to a hybrid. I can do some light off road (grass), packed gravel or other relatively hard path surface, anything more and you should consider the Aventure series instead. Of course, streets and paved bike paths are its sweet spot. I will say that even "eco" mode (lowest assist level) is plenty powerful, such that it really doesn't feel like exercise at all.
    My main gripe is that it doesn't come with the fenders or carrier like the Level .2 - you have to order those separate and they are often out of stock. The replaceable battery on the top side of the down tube means you need to use a strap on bottle holder or on the handle bars somehow.

      Hi, Just bought a Pace 500.3 ST this morning from a local dealer - last one in stock. Completed first battery charge - 5 hours starting from ~10% charge out of the box. I eyeballed the battery carefully and can find no UL label. If Aventon paid to get UL certification (cost can run anywhere from 100's of thousands to millions of $) then they would most definitely put the UL label on the battery. It would be a major differentiator from most other ebike brands. - especially since the media has played-up any battery fires. BTW the battery is made (wait for it) in China, as is the rest of the bike. Regards

    • @scotthardesty
      @scotthardesty  Před 11 měsíci

      @@tanogae I have reviewed a lot of bikes, not all UL batteries have the sticker certification sticker on it. With that said, I always try to confirm with the companies that I deal with if they are certified or not. I was not able to get an answer from Aventon before this video and I was told it was. This is why I said yes in the comment but not on the review.

    • @tanogae
      @tanogae Před 11 měsíci

      @@scotthardesty Hello again. There are 3 different types of UL certifications: Recognized - testing done by manufacturer, no logo allowed.
      Certified - testing done by UL, logo permitted.
      Classified - testing done by UL, logo permitted.
      Perhaps the info you were given was referring to a Recognized testing that was done by Aventon themselves.
      BTW I forgot to mention that the charger is UL & CE (Europe) certified. It does give me some comfort that the charger is because it gets very hot when it's working. I could touch it but not leave my hand on it for more than a second. Take care.

Pace's have always been their best seller by far, very comfort oriented, and many overestimate the need for front shocks. shocks add weight, and make more sense when rider is in moderate lean forward posture, as the Level's are designed for. pace's don't need nor are they designed for front suspension.
