Me to
WTF? Where is Seven?
I did love the Saw and Scream Plot Twists (through did see Billy as the killer coming, Stu was a surprise).
Idk if anyone else is hearing a buzzing type noise in the background when watching, maybe it’s just when I’m wearing headphones. But anyone else??
Yeah, but I’m trying to ignore it 😅
Yes i can hear it too
Yes I thought it was just me haha 😭
Yeah i can hear it but no biggie
Yeah it was in one of her other videos too
i think when most ppl refer to Scream in terms of plot twists they are referring to the fact that there were TWO killers... not that billy loomis was one of them. i remember how shocked i was the first time to find out there were 2! might be my personal favorite plot twist of all time
I totally agree with this but I would say the even bigger plat twist in Scream is the intro when Drew Barry more's character is killed off - it may be very much part of the Scream franchise formula now but nobody saw that coming when the film first came out. She's even right upfront on the movie poster.
i would honestly argue that billy was a plot twist? the whole movie we’re suspecting him! sidney suspects him! when we see him stabbed in the bedroom at stu’s house, it’s a fake out because now we the audience are supposed to think “omg it actually wasn’t him we’ve been wrong all along!!” and then they get us again with the real reveal lol. so maybe it’s not that surprising since the fake out was so quick and towards the end, but on a first watch I think it successfully blew my mind 🥸
@@elenao.804when he is in jail and Sidney gets a call i honestly thought it wasnt him, and then he puts suspicion on himself again, AND immediatly gets stabbed?? I was going crazy trying to figure it out if he was guilty or not😂
I still remember exactly how I felt when I watched Saw for the first time. I wish I could rewatch that movie for the first time just to experience that twist
hiccvp - I'm not a newbie to horror, at all...but I literally gasped when "John" sat up and started talking. 😮
I love that plot twist so much. It's so simple but so effective with the " Hello Zepp" theme in the background
idk if it's my fav plot twist, but Old Boy always sticks out in my mind for how messed up it is ajsdfkl;asdfjkl;
OMG devastating ending
omg. my friend made me watch that last year and it was so good and disturbing
Why is Psycho not on here???? Probably one of the best twists ever in my opinion
A couple of twists as we begin thinking the stereotypical blonde for the time was going to be the main character!
I think one of the most hard-hitting plot twists has to be Arrival! While not a horror, that reveal towards the end is an absolute punch to the gut.
I have to agree. I was a mess when it was revealed. It was a fantastic movie, but I don't know when or if I'll ever be able to revisit it because of the twist/reveal. It deeply effected me, especially because when we watched the movie, my kiddos were still very young and, yeah. Things with kids is really hard to do after becoming a parent.
Which “Arrival?”
@@jujubih9343 The one with Amy Adams and Jeremy Renner.
Please do the movies that made audiences angry. That’s a great idea. And also revisiting stuff!
I wish they did the back stories to all the monsters in cabin in the woods! Like the hellraiser guy
We don't need that, some mystery is good.
I think The Others has to be my favorite out of all the movies you mentioned. It has such a "classic movie" feel to it. Not to compare them, but if you haven't seen The Skeleton Key or Jessabelle, they have some great twists.
The skeleton key had such a good twist. Didn't see it coming at all
Oh I loved The Others, I watched it as a teen and hadn't seen something like it before, so I didn't see the plot twist coming for quite a while. I think I would've been able to tell if I'd watched it now, but the rest of the movie is just so good that I don't even care.
@@punkukethat plot twist is pretty cliche nowadays. But was more new when The Others came out
The ending of the OG Saw is one of the most badass, yet terrifying endings to a movie ever. Still my favorite horror movie
The Skeleton Key, imo, is the GOAT for the levity within its xecution (better than the early M. NIGHT flicks). Last Night in Soho, Insidious, and The Forest are very good. Oh, Antebellum. The Ruins. Coherence for how it actually shows what's going on at the start if you pay close attention).
Now The Reading - I'm not sure where that movie is going with its twist within a twist ending. We'll see...).
And I know you don't like it but...MALIGNANT!!!
There are many others.
Skeleton Key is honestly so sleeped on! Such a great atmospheric movie.
saw it in theaters but the fire alarm went off before the reveal.
it wasn't until years later that i got to know how it ended.
Get out is a great visual and directional experience, but it was so obvious from start to finish, that his girlfriend are catching black people to her parents, so they can do horrible things with them. It didn't ruin the whole experience for me, but that's why I was lukewarmed the whole time.
I think anyone who watched Takashi Miike's Imprint could see the twist in Malignant coming
I dont know about anyone else, but sleepaway canp is one of my faves solely because its utterly insane lol
it's not a movie i think is great, but it is unique. not paint by numbers in the slightest. love the reveal at the end.
Frailty has a pretty great twist
As a "mentally ill" person, I believe it has a very important place in horror. There is little scarier than losing your mind. It is the idea that you can't even trust yourself to be a reliable narrator, taking away the last bit of control a protagonist would have.
When it shows how horrifying mental illness is for the person experiencing it, it's great and very effective. I just don't like the 'mental illness makes you violent' tropes and the constantly inaccurate DID/MPD representations. It just happens too often in films and continues the negative stigmas of mental health.
@Amanda K. alzheimer's isn't a mental illness, sure, but it follows the same idea of losing yourself/not being able to trust yourself- I fully agree.
@Jessie Smyth DID in media is a very thin line, because half the time it feels like they aren't even purposefully using the illness (rather instead wanting the concept of multiple people inside a single "host" body, and the other half is when they actually try and use it but are unaware of how it actually works. DID is a trauma response, so I automatically find it weird when it is used in a horror because an "evil" alter that is a murder... just hadn't been documented and adds to the stigma?
@Kitnal Yes, that's exactly how I feel about it
The night house plot twist is just , chefs kiss. I love it so much, the moment of realization once you put all the puzzle pieces together is crazy. I’d pay so much money to experience that again, they steer you into a direction that makes you think you know what’s going on but then you don’t and ugh it’s just so good
I loved the fact that my teacher in 8th grade let us watch the sixth sense on the last few days of school and when my class got to the twist we all collectively lost our 12 year old minds 😭😭😭
i wish bodies bodies bodies was here because the plot twist actually made the movie a masterpiece for me
agreed!
I found it quite predictable. You probably expect it to have a twist, and then it’s the exact twist you’d suspect from a movie with such a tone.
Don’t get me wrong: I still enjoyed the movie. But the twist didn’t make it for me.
I was a teeny tiny bit sceptical of this concept for a video, but I gotta say I love it. I am a fan of plot twists and knowing a movie has one only elevates my excitement for the said movie so yeah, now I'm looking forward to some of the movies on this list, Sleepaway camp mainly.
I don't like when the twist is spoiled but knowing there is one is a big hit for me.
I would love to hear your thoughts on The Prestige!
I was walking into the cinema to watch The Sixth Sense when a bunch of teenagers walking by said VERY LOUDLY 'I can't believe he was dead the whole time!' Fuming. I was fuming.
The others has to me my favorite plot twist. Not only is the twist so good but when Nicole Kidmans character realizes what she had done to her kids and she’s sitting there crying I was crying too. That really hit me
Darling I'm surprised Barbarian isn't on the list!
Great selection! Some movies that I liked the plot twist: " Barbarian " " Malignant " and " The Stepford wives (1975) ".
you put so much effort into this video and it was so good, thank youu !! loved it, hopefully you’ll do a part two!! ❤
This is such a fun idea! And very thoughtful with the time stamps 💚Especially for a list like that.
I stumble upon spoilers on some horror channels that do lists and people in the comments be like: Well, what did you expect, this movie came out 10/20/30... years ago.
So? It doesn't mean everybody watched it.
But I'm glad to declare I watched most of these except for Fractured, Time Crimes, Goodnight Mommy and His House.
Time crimes is quite good, and I'm watching the rest asap, starting with fractured and his house.
I always love your tier lists! I wanted this one with spoilers so much - excited to check it out.
Congrats on doing these great vids with all that is going on in your life, you're awesome. And congrats for the beautiful baby Fern as well
The plot twist in A Tale of Two Sisters was predictable, but it remains one of my favorite movies because even though you can figure it out early on… it absolutely does not make that movie any less terrifying.
Completely agree with The Others in the top tier. What a moment in cinematic history (Sixth Sense had the same moment I think, for that time). Love a good twist!
I love when you do your tier lists, and always look forward to next time! Thank you Sarah!
Skeleton Key is another one that got me in the end.
I wish I could have watched Sixth Sense blind! My dad sat me down to watch it when I was in my teens, and his ex joined us at the beginning of the movie and said "oh you're watching Sixth Sense? I still can't believe he's dead the whole time. Isnt it great?" I've never seen my dad get so angry in my entire life 😅 Still loved the movie but the worst experience 💔🙄
Great video! Thanks for the time stamps, it was super easy to skip over films I haven't seen yet.
THANK U SO SO MUCH FOR INCLUDING THE TIMESTAMPS OMG
Where would you put “The Skeleton Key”?
Oddly I guessed the twist to Sutter Island when I saw the trailer. Becasue the unreliable narrator twist was so common around that time, I immediately guessed that. However it had two great mini twists in the movie that I LOVED. The bit where you see him pulling the gun from a nazi who's trying to kill themselves, early on seems like an act of mercy. However later in the movie it's revealed he wasn't being merciful, he didn't think they deserved a quick death after what he saw. And of course the very last line in the movie, implying that he's completely sane at the end, he's going to be lobotomized on purpose because he's so haunted by his past was a fantastic final twist.
I'm predicting... Saw, The Mist, Identity, Eden Lake, and every M Night film ever to be on the list haha
I'd forgotten about The Mist. Broke my heart
This isn't a horror but an amazing twist in a movie I absolutely LOVE is Perfect Stranger starring Halle Berry and Bruce Willis. It has like 3 twists and it literally destroyed my brain when I saw it years ago, still a favourite of mine.
I'd love to see a part 2 of this video! Recent movies I've enjoyed with good plot twists are The Empty Man and I See You ❤
love these and love how you approach spoilers thank you!
Great video !!! I really enjoyed your take on these twists 😊
I absolutely love your tier videos I’ve fallen down a whole of watching them all😭 so good
Also an AMAZING plot twist was Marrowbone. There was so much going on I didn’t even consider that’s what actually happen. Definitely recommend:)
I love this video so much, so fun to watch and very entertaining. Your tier lists videos are so good, keep up the great work 😊
This seems like an interesting premise for a video, unfortunately I think something happened to the audio. There's a static buzz that I was unable to tune out.
Always happy to see a video from you and I'm leaving a comment to appease the algorithm. 🌼
The Visit is my second favorite M.Night film. Love it.
Same
Love your creative ideas!
sarah these tier names are hilarious. so chaotic and i love it ❤
“I don’t think people think of plot twists when they think of the Saw franchise.” That is genuinely close to the first thing that a lot of people think about with those movies.
This is so great the chapters are perfect!! Love the video
thank you so much for the time stamps
I will never get sick of tier lists 😂
Wonderful list. Enjoyed this episode. Thank you
Love the ranking!! I was surprised you didn’t put Barbarian on here!!
yay love the tier list content!!
You should've added orphan first kill as well cuz that plot twist blew my mind. I remembered my theater was screaming "What!!!!"
Obviously the second movie isn't scary unlike the first one, but the second one is so fun to rewatch tbh
Yeah, that twist was great; I was wondering how they could make the movie interesting and they did. I've seen it done in other places as well (including the TV show _The Family_ and I think in one episode of _Alert: Missing Persons Unit_ ).
I watched The Village for the first time last week thanks to you 😂 I had years of hearing about it without spoilers but knowing the gist so my expectations were managed. I guessed the twist so quickly which was my own fault for taking so long to watch it…but still loved it!
Ive had a crush on Johnny Depp since middle school, I'm 34 now. My mom took me for my birthday like 7th or 8th grade to the theater to see Secret Window. And I love it. Sooooo much. He is so unhinged in it.
I love Secret Window.
You look like you’re glowing!! You look great
I always liked the plot twist in 1408.prolly 1 of my favorite movies too
I loved the ending of Dead And Buried when they show the sheriff one of the town's films and it turns out he was murdered and turned into a zombie too but he didn't remember it! Good list and cool video Sarah!👉😃👈
kind of unfair with scream since the plot twist is not the billy but have two killers
The Sixth Sense had a mind-blowing twist but now when I re-watch it, it seems so obvious 😅
David Letterman gave away the _Sixth Sense_ twist on his very-popular show and pissed off millions of people. People often let things go, but that crossed the line and he had to apologize. 😂 I don't remember if I remembered what he said by the time I eventually saw it, but I'm sure I'd heard so many people discuss it that I couldn't possibly have been surprised. 🤔
actually, watching you adjust the image size is like ASMR to me
Love this video!
Mulholland Drive has one of my favorite plot twists of all time
for me, it was for certain The Others because it was my first big plot twist like it and I didn't see it coming AND I still wanted to watch it again, just to see it from a different perspective.
love your videos !
This was fun! I'd love a part two with some more movies. Some good ones would be The Lodge, Malignant, The Night House, and Mother
Awesome idea for a video.
I'm only skipping the fractured part cause is the only i haven't seen and I'm interested on watching in the future.
You have to see it. It's so good
Interesting concept
my faves off the top of my head are Malignant and Oculus. I can still relive my shock when I revisit either movie
You put Fractured in the top tier, and then put Identity in the lowest tier because Identity is about mental illness. But, Fractured is about a man having a psychotic break.
For plot twists, I highly recommend The Orphanage. My husband, who always predicts the ending, was even shocked
Hey. What’s your opinion on the plot twist in Malignant? Love your content. :)
Great video, thank you :) It sounds like you have a ground hum going on in your audio. Just thought I'd mention.
*Spoilers for Orphan & Orphan FK*
The twist in Orphan First Kill surprised me more than Orphan.
In the original we knew there was something off about Esther. Pretending to be a much younger girl to get what she wants was cruel.
But in the prequel it seemed like we were just getting more Esther con-work and murder.
Until the mother shoots the Detective and we find out the brother was involved, too.
Whaaaatttt??!!!
That seemed like something you'd see in a Scream film.
I loved the back-and-forth between the three.
The sequel was surprisingly good. When she shot him I was genuinely surprised.
loved this one
when she posts, it feels like a holiday 💀
Okay M. - The Skeleton Key !!!
great video!
I like the Saw movies, and the reveal at the end of the first one was wholly unexpected. But was there actually a point to it? I remember one of the later films showing John putting himself in the room. But i don't remember if they ever explained what his presence added to the game.
This was really fun!!!
I was also lucky to not be aware of the plot twist! Was so good.
I remember watching shutter island for the first time and thinking “please don’t be crazy please don’t be crazy” because every plot twist during this time seemed to end with the main character having a mental illness
It ruined the movie for me
Also, totally agree about Cabin In The Woods. I wish I could see that movie for the first time again too!
i watched cloverfield lane not knowing about the cloverfield universe so i was not expecting the ending really and it was super enjoyable ! one of my fav movies ^
Us going in Okay M Night with twist being so predictable, and Shutter Island going to I'm tired were the only places that I strongly disagree with this tier list. I haven't seen some of these so I'll definitely watch them now. Thanks for this
I agree about identity. I remember everyone thinking the twist was unique but I just thought it cheated the audience. It’s almost like saying the whole thing was a dream.. but worse.
I loved The Village. It’s one of M Nights most underrated but when I first saw the trailer I knew they were on modern times and I was fortunate enough to see this movie in the theaters. But I thought that the “twist” of it taking place in modern day was so obvious that it couldn’t be the real twist. There’s two other twists in this movie that are so subtle yet so powerful to the love story, that is the village.
One of my favorite twists is one you didn’t mention and it’s insidious. What is the reasons why I like you because technically isn’t a twist it’s more of a theory. Which is, it’s not so much that Josh was finally possessed at the end of the movie but that he was already possessed from the start of the movie.
A few of my favorites are, Insidious (I don't know if you would call it a plot twist 😅) but when you find out the dad was haunted I guess by the "women" in black. Dead Silence, God that movie gave me nightmares. And this isn't really a plot twist, but I really liked it, Annabelle Creation at the end when you find out the little girl is the woman who killed the woman in the first movie neighbors and them being her adoptive parents.
Please do a part two with some of the suggestions
"The Visit" is a great movie. "Shutter Island" is a great book and movie although the twist is tiresome after so many similar twists.
I *loved* the plot twist in Cabin, I wrote about it in my undergrad thesis because of how great it was
I don’t like the “mental illness = violent killer” trope but I love shutter island! It was sooo good & definitely didn’t see that twist coming! Also liked identity, haven’t watched in years though. Hate Secret Window, glad most ppl do too. Scream was great because you didn’t that Billy & Stu killed Maureen. Billy def seemed like he was behind what was currently going on but to kill the mom & have all this extra planned out…I loved it! Love these lists!!!
I recently saw "Speak No Evil" and I don't know if you could consider the ending a plot-twist, but I did see it coming (at least part of it like the fact that their son didn't have a tongue), but still a great horror movie.
I've got pa-lenty of issues with Cabin in the Woods (most of them being Whedon) but I do think the facility with all the monsters was pretty sick.
I went to look up one of the movies you listed here, and the poster really made me pause and think. Everyone talks about movie trailers that have spoilers in them, but what about movie posters that spoil important plot details/twists? I can't think of any specific examples now, but I for feel sure that I've seen that before. Wondered if anyone else had run into this before either.
Not my favorite twists, but some I was mindblown by was Sinister and Incantation. Great movies too
I usually figure out plot twists, but the others almost got me. I did figure it out before the reveal, but barely. The visist from the estranged husband gave it away, but that was near the end of the movie.
I'm one of the few people who has a "meh" perspective on Cabin in the Woods so I might be biased, but I was surprised you put it at the top for plot twists. Although I didn't know EXACTLY what the people behind the scenes were doing, we knew about them from the beginning and that everything happening to the other characters was intentional. I think I would have been more shocked had we ONLY gotten the cabin's perspective until they finally broke into the facility, and then see everyone at work.
Completely disagree with you about Shutter Island, i thought that movie/twist was fantastic. I fully understand how damaging it is to link mental illness with being dangerous but that movie was truly excellent. As for the rest i agree with most of your opinions.
