I thought that Tara's actor was so brilliant in Scream 2022. In the opening scene where she gets stabbed through the hand, and the camera shows her face from above as she's looking at the knife, her face is emoting pure terror, confusion and shock in a way that is so unsettlingly believable. She gave it her ALL and it totally worked for me, I believed her. I can't say the same thing for her older sister, Sam. I found myself watching Sam's scenes and thinking "hmm she's obviously acting and not delivering a convincing performance." Lots of people praise her, though, so maybe I'm the only one! I just thought Tara crushed it and would make a stronger final girl than Sam

Dewey got taken down in an unrealistic fashion after we found out who the killer was... by that tiny twig who was frail and would have folded after 1 punch? Please. @@lalareal180 your so closed minded it's unreal. The Scream movies are meta. Dewey went back to shoot the killer in the head which is one of the rules randy stated. Its a really meta way of killing Dewey. And your just assuming because Amber is smaller it means she'd struggle to fight. Dewey was a character well into his 50s he isn't going to be as strong as he was when he was younger. And he'd already sustained injuries that were still affecting him in later life. The killer looked knocked out to dewey. They jumped up and stab surprised him. He had no chance at that point. Your saying it took ages for the police to get there. No it didn't. Judy was a minute down the road when wes was threatened. It would take 5-10 mins for the police to get there, giving the killer enough time to kill both of them. And the series can't keep relying on the legacy character considering one of them is pushing 60. They need a new cast to take over. We know kirby reed is alive now and she might take over. Who knows. Your probably just made cos Wes Craven didn't direct. But the new directors did a fantastic job honouring the original

I didn’t feel anything when they died, and I don’t find myself really caring about what happens next for the survivors. I also didn’t like how the Legacy characters were just there for no real reason. It ended up feeling like it was a “here they are, give us your money” kind of thing. (I think 4 did a better job at using the legacy cast to bring in the new cast. That could have helped this movie in my opinion.) I wasn’t particularly blown away by the motive, but the thing that has bugged me is the “toxic fandom” thing. In some fan spaces it has been used as “oh you didn’t like this movie because you are one of the toxic fans they talked about.” That’s not really a good look. As Randy says in the original “everyone is a suspect” so they intentionally always play it that way, but Scream (2022) I sadly could tell from the beginning who it was. Was that disappointing? Yes and no, because at times I was like “wait what? Maybe I’m wrong!“ and it just kept me on my toes even though I knew it had to be them, and that’s what the original did for me as well. Scream 2022 is definitely more of a closing chapter for the OG three, I didn’t feel like it was necessarily forcing them into the story, but can see how you feel that way. I think it was a perfect love letter to Wes and the fans filled with Easter Eggs that included the way certain scenes were shot, to the music, and just so many little things I appreciated as a fan of this franchise. I did read an article yesterday where the writers/directors said their intention is to not make this into a trilogy or to continue after Scream (2022) with the franchise and I couldn’t be happier about that, because I think they ended it beautifully.

I liked Scream 5. The only thing I didn’t like is that they didn’t show us anything about Sidney’s life since Scream 4. I would’ve loved just 5-10 minutes of her raising her kids and living her life. It would be interesting to see how she raises her kids and lives her life after all of the tragedy and trauma she’s gone through. Kinda like Laurie in Halloween (2018), but obviously not to that extent. Just a scene or two.

    My list:
    Scream 1
    Scream 2
    Scream 5
    Scream 4
    Scream 3
I love all of these movies so it is a bit difficult to rank them but 3 just takes the cake as the worst one at least to me. The single killer (unless you headcanon Angelina as the second killer like I do), the magic voice changer, the weird thing between Sidney and Kincaid, there’s so much stuff in that movie that I just don’t like.
Scream 5 was amazing btw, this was my first Scream movie in theaters as well and being such a big Scream fan, it felt like it was made for me and the rest of the fanbase (which is funny considering its meta converse about toxic fandoms). Also Jenna (Tara), Jasmin (Mindy), and Mason (Chad) were such standouts in this movie, I love them so much. It’s truly amazing to see how big of Scream fans the new cast is just from interviews.

OMG you helped me realize something about Scream 5, yeah Sidney, Gale, and Dewey felt forced into the script but that was the killers whole point?!?! The Stab movies had gone down the drain and had nothing to do with the OG story so they felt like they needed to force back the OG characters for better content in future sequels. It was meta fan service which is hilarious considering the killers are toxic fans XD Scream 5 just unseated Scream 3 for my favorite sequel

  • @jdmarsh91
    @jdmarsh91 Před 2 lety +4

I enjoy the first Scream, but to me Scream 2 is the best.
Sidney, Dewey, Gale, Randy, & Cotton all feel like better, more fleshed out characters.
The opening kill in the movie theater was terrifyingly creepy and creative,
Halle to me is a much better, more supportive friend than Tatum was and Derek is easily my favorite of the love interests.
Joel was one of the smartest characters across 5 movies and 3 Seasons, as he was smart enough to distance himself from an area of constant killings occurring.
I love how this was the first movie that had the balls to kill off a legacy character, quite brutally.
Timothy Olyphant as Mickey was a joy every second on screen and probably did more damage to Sidney than the other 8 killers did put together. He causes severe emotional trauma, depression and anxiety that haunts Sidney daily to the point she doesn’t feel safe taking her baby for a walk without carrying a gun.
Especially on rewatch, he has so many moments of twisted, manipulative scenes where he is loving the torment that he is causing.
Mrs. Loomis is also terrifyingly psychotic, while having one of the smartest plans of all 9 killers.
She does make the classic killer mistake of being overconfident towards the end of her plan, but that is almost a given with ANY killer in a slasher movie

I love when you put out rankings like this. I find it interesting in general when anyone does it - and specifically hearing their explanations of “why” - but I’m especially drawn to yours because we often have similar tastes. For example, I loved the opening of Scream 4 with all the fake outs, and I know not everyone else does, so hearing you enjoyed it too gives me confidence that we’re of similar mind once again in this franchise. Same with your horror/black comedy stance here. So, in cases like this, where I haven’t seen the latest one yet (and THANK YOU for skipping spoilers on it), I have a good idea of where it’ll rank for me too. I appreciate this insight very much. Please keep sharing your opinions, “unpopular” or not, and ignore the haters. The brutality and gore was amazing. Even with all the references my boyfriend didn't get a lot but didn't bother him at all. The way he described it was it's nostalgia for fans and random moments for newcomers. The original 3 coming back was nice because this truly was the passing of the torch. Current ranking (after only one viewing of the new one so definitely TBD) is 1>2>5>3>4. I love them all and they're all at least four stars to me. I really think 5 absolutely crushed it with the satirical angle. Not only the idea of "requels" and how that trend relies on nostalgia and the sort of "elevated" horror (as Tara calls it), but also the discussion of fandom and fan responses to sequels and franchise direction (and I kind of see the fan service as a meta depiction of that). Also as a huge Wes Craven fan I thought they did a great job of paying tribute to him, not just in the dedication, but in actually incorporating a tribute to him within the film, which was really fucking clever.

i loved scream 5 but one of the main characters (Sam) was extremely weak to me. no final girl power or anything from her. i seriously only enjoyed and liked her at the very end of the movie lol. she got so much screen time for what!? but that was my main gripe with the movie, otherwise i loved it all!

Only grip... okay bad writing - Deweys killer was the tiny frail twig? She could have lasted that long and eaten them punches like she did? haha made his death a joke. No chase scenes. Sam was lame. Annoying teens talking like the smart adults they never will be. Sheriff calls cops in small town for backup, they never arrive so the killer can kill... got it bad writing...

@@lalareal180- yep, that's exactly what I thought about Dewey's death scene! No way was she overpowering and managing to kill him. I know it's just a film, but come on, gotta make it at least a bit believable?! 🤷🏻‍♂️
