When I lost my job and my husband was retired we decided to leave Ontario and moved to Fredericton NB. and we love it. Found a home on 4 acres for 30% of the cost of the house we sold in Ontario and now have a very affordable retirement.
I wish all the rest of the old farts move out of Ontario. I'm sick and tired of slow geriatric drivers on 401 hogging all the lanes
Sadly, people leaving Ontario for the better parts of the country are driving prices up in those regions.
You're 100% right
Thanks for sharing! My wife and I are in our 30s living in Calgary AB and are seriously looking at moving to Fredericton next year. We're fed up with the growth and noise of Calgary and are looking for a quieter life and Fredericton is really speaking to us to buy our first home. We are going to come visit next spring to suss it out. If you've got any advice in the meantime about daily living, prices, healthcare etc, that would be much appreciated!
@@dfunckt. Well there is a give and take. Yes property values go up but these “city people” also bring a vibrancy and a demand fir good restaurants that maybe were lacking before. I live in a small town in BC where this is happening and there is good and bad.
Hi there, I am so exited to get connected with you guys. You ladies are so amazing and inspiring. I was attracted to your topic here in CZcams while searching for Content guidelines in my quest of possible getting a sponsored job in Canada. Thank you, for this and many other of your tips. They are very helpful.🥰
Great video, I agree totally about Windsor, it’s always been a hidden gem. There’s so much to do in the area and with Detroit across, five minutes away, you’re basically living in a large metropolitan area like Toronto without having to deal with the day-to-day hassle , you have pro sports, first rate cultural entertainment, world-class museums and symphony shopping and many other things to do literally five minutes away, The weather also is very temperate being so far south for Canada, actually the most southern point.Windsor itself is a nice town that offers a great restaurant scene and lovely parks and plenty of shopping also. Nice people too by the way, and some really interesting housing areas, the riverfront is absolutely beautiful. Check it out
I've lived in Windsor my whole life. I've given up on it. I'm looking to transfer out as soon as I can. I used to love it, but it's full of selfish, greedy, miserable people. Worth drivers, too many investors ruining the housing market. A mayor and council who don't care. It's really too bad. Potential.....yes. A healthy, vibrant future...... absolutely not.
I agree. My family moved from London to Windsor in 2019.
I live in a suburb of Detroit now. Hope to retire in Windsor soon to join my extended family. Love the waterfront, parks and Canadian way of life with still being close to Detroit for sports, shopping and shows.
Windsor is a hole! It is dying at a uncontrolled rate! It is FULL of meth heads and massive amounts of other drugs! The bike gang’s literally own areas of windsor. The other areas are full of elderly dying people who have never kept up their houses! The costs of windsor are skyrocketing because of the people investing in houses and condominiums to rent at unreal prices!
@@BoondockSaintRyan really?
Planning to move there next summer
Great vid. Production, videography, and editing were great.
Two of my favorite Russian Canadians. Great videos with lots of great advice. I appreciate all the hard work and great content that all Canadians can enjoy.
Thank you Matthew - it means a lot to us! Please do share feedback on how we could improve as well 🙏
They both are under cover KGB agents.
greetings, Anna!
Your video is useful and excellent.
Thank you! 😃
Thank you for this video ladies. I am hoping to move to Windsor this year to do my MBA, so I really appreciate the information you provided about the city. It reinforced that that city was a good choice for me.
Glad it was helpful! Good luck with the move and with MBA!
Please do your homework. Rent has skyrocketed in Windsor since 2017. The figures in this video are very low. Units in my building (which I wouldn't wish on my worst enemy) are $1800 for a 1BR, and $2200 for a 2BR. 2BR houses are renting for $2400-2800/month. Unemployment is very high and wages are low. If you're happy working in fast food or retail, there are lots of jobs, but those won't cover rent. House prices have nearly tripled since 2017.
I came across ur channel while applying for my citizenship application 1 week ago. I immigrated here 3 years ago under FSW and i live with my husband in windsor, ON. I chose windsor for its affordability, weather, proximity to Detroit. I just want to say that u ladies provide a VERY realistic content in ur videos! My 2 bedroom rental is 1300$ and u can even find cheaper than that. Windsor is a hidden gem. Absolutely no traffic, u can drive around the city in 20 mins stress free. If u miss the hussle and bussle u can cross to Detroit and if u like a more relaxing atmosphere u can drive the opposite way (to the county). Keep on the great content. Sending love ❤️
Thank you Cyrille - it’s great to hear we’ve hit the spot! Do you plan on staying in Windsor?
@@MakeThatChange for now yes! I like the weather here, we barely get any snow! My husband might be looking for a job in detroit 🤑 and get the usd flowing lol we still haven't crossed the border yet but we should be getting our visa soon. In addition , as u mentioned flying from Detroit is way more convenient than Toronto : cost wise and proximity too 😃 any more infos about windsor, i would be so happy to share 😊
Hi Cirylle,
How about job opportunities there ? Im coming under fsw program and im still confused. Im in the economic domain.
Thank you in advance
@@cyrillemrad4950 🙏
@@lilik5694 the way i look at it is that: wage for every occupation is the same across ontario. When coming to Canada u might need to wait a bit until u get a job in ur field, so u might end up landing on a job with minimum wage 1st until u start getting the "canadian experience ". I started a 17$/hr customer service job and i was able to afford rent + living expenses which can not be achievable in places like Toronto with that kind of pay. Just like the ladies said : what's the point of having a higher paying job if u will spend most of it on rent.
I love the city trois-rivières I can speak French fluently and the rent is quite cheap. Merci beaucoup
Keep up the good work, it's great video
Thanks, will do!
Thanks for sharing I am a new subscriber you guys are amazing powerful content
Thank you for the kind words! Welcome 🤗
Absolutely a helpful video.
I moved to kitchener from Vancouver BC in 2017 then in late 2021 I moved from kitchener with my 2 year old to Windsor Ontario. Windsor has been a blessing, I can afford to live here with working just 1 job as a single mom. The people of Windsor are kind, very friendly and welcoming, I'm glad I made the decision to move to Windsor Ontario. Before I moved to Windsor, I had to chose between Calgary, Moncton new Brunswick and Windsor Ontario. The other 2 places are super cold and I was not really done with Ontario so I chose Windsor.
Kitchener has lost its unique history based on German settlers, its now India. And like Brampton, bursting at its seams.
@@joywebster2678 So is Windsor. It's completely changed....for the worse. The figures in the video are lower than what it really is, too. They also didn't mention unemployment or median incomes. Investors have ruined the market here.
@BoondockSaintRyan I looked at the rents after the video, I saw like everywhere else in Ontario the rental prices are high. Windsor sucks and has for a long time.
@Joy Webster Caucasians did it to themselves by accepting wokeism leading to falling birthrates. Don't blame Indians.
can you guys make a video like this but with rural/small towns instead. i love all your videos
Soon to come!
Good video Anna and Anastasia
Thank you Tito 🤗
Good video. Very insightful
Glad you enjoyed it!
Medicine Hat, Alberta! Small city but affordable and beautiful. Sometimes it's better to go small than live in big city
💯💯💯 great city!
I was born and raised just by Trois-Rivières and I wasn't expecting it to be on there. Cheap housing might also make it a good place to go to university to since it'll be so much cheaper than Montréal or Québec.
😄😄 I never thought someone from polonaise where I live in Trois Rivieres would post here . But I moved from Montreal to find here cheap rent in a Mile end looking appartment at the polonaise area. I speak french like everyone here. Only been here a year , you notice many people with mentl issues , or drugs but I find them quite friendly. I'm happy here retired and spend 6 months a year in South America.
really informative and entertaining thanks :)
🙏🙏
Very great advises !
Glad they’re helpful!
I’m Canadian born and raised. Edmonton should be on this list, it’s affordable for now. Secondly, Trois rivière will be hard to live in if you don’t speak French, even if you don’t have to work out of your home you need to speak the language. Thunder Bay is fine but it is very remote from many places- it is 18 hours from Toronto by driving.
agreed after living in edmonton, vancouver and montreal. edmonton is the best choice to get in the market. much less tax and much room to build in the prairies. global warming and the dry climate has really been a boon for the oil fields and the city of edmonton
is it possible to live in Edmonton without a car?
@@samli369 nope
Halifax is crazy expensive, rent is usually 2000+ dollars per month.
Yes,plus not lot of jobs there and if u get job than wage rate is low as compare to other provinces.
Good afternoon! I am brazilian, I love Canada and I study english 6 days on week. His channel is amazing, I am beginner in english, but I hope see you in Canada. Thanks a lot. Canada is my big dream.
Canada sucks dude. Brazil is a way better country.
I start love Canada because of your great job & informations girls thank you to help me make a choice
So glad!🤗
new brunswick has three cities an hour apart from each other, friendly people, and cheaper to live and close to Halifax
I think Saint John NB would be another great place to consider when looking for a city with a more affordable cost of living.
Good thoughtful pickings that actually spot on 👍
Thanks!
You can consider Edmonton in the list. Rent is around 800-1100 in downtown and public transportation is easily accessible and affordable.
🙌🙌
Transit is also riddled with druggies, horrible at being on time with no officers around and generally unsafe. The city is also generally filthy, you get what you pay for.
@@ArdannaLreally
@@romeoandjuliet6522 I've lived there since November and I really don't like it here. I've seen people shooting up with drugs at like 10am at random bus stops and I've been told point blank to never use Churchill station.
edmonton is great but the city is stretched out about 6x the size of vancouver city limits. you absolutely need a car in edmonton
Thanks for this video! I am hopefully moving to Canada on an IEC and just got back from Alberta. I absolutely loved it but wondered if I should choose a city or town in another province to settle in for a while and do more exploring!
Exploring is always a good idea before settling down - if that's something you'd like to do!
Thnxs for the information.. my choice Windsor👍
Great choice!
I might be the only one on here, but I Love Toronto and the GTA!!!
Huge flies that bite in ThunderBay.
I am still undecided so this channel helps. I retire in 4 years and don't want to stay in Ottawa. I've considered Windsor, Chatham, Welland and London. I am leaning towards a rural London town like Strathroy. Windsor has 1.81 percent property tax which is high. I am also concerned about flooding.
not welland
I am from Thunder Bay & so glad I "finally" left there 10 years ago. It use to be a beautiful city, with interesting activities & fun places to go, but all has gone 20+ years ago. High drug & alcohol use & has been deemed the highest crime/murder rate per capita.
Yep. And the Police force was the subject of a not-too-good report in the last year or two.
American tourist never made Windsor feel dirty. It’s the high level of homelessness. The American tourist were part of what helped maintain what used to be a higher level of services to the residents.
Perhaps Trois Rivieres, Quebec though I am currently in the GVA in BC.
$700/month, ELRL 2 br apt in Elliot Lake ON., utilities included (hydro subsidized), cable extra, on site laundry, $3/load, and 1 parking spot included with year round hydro included.
that sounds like quite a steal!
I am going to move to Regina
As i am going to pursuing my studies in uofr.
Thanks for the information ☺️
Appreciate it.
Best of luck in your studies!
Hi can you share some information about medicine hat, alberta? how's the cost of living there?
You are two very lovely Russian young ladies, nice work. I live in Halifax since 2016, it's not great but it provides a stable economy and so-so weather. But NO concerts or professional sports, barley that is, this city doesn't even have a stadium! Most young people leave due to low job opportunities, there's too many old people left behind but Nova Scotians are nice and welcoming. Taxes are horrendous as anywhere in Canada sadly.
Thunder Bay is also always dealing with the indigenous homelessness. And its a long drive to anywhere, so flying is necessary.
And a very damning recent report on it’s Police department.
Edmonton is the most Under Rated 1 million + population city in Canada. Most affordable than ALL Big cities 1 million +. 😊
❤️
Totally Agree!!!
Wonderful city.
I know that. I live here, and love my home.
Can you please make a video on how we can get a NOC B job as a chef in canada .. and where the hotel industry exists most in canada
I live in Saskatoon i pay 950$ for one bedroom . I like Saskatoon but its extremely cold minus 50 in winter sometimes i think if i move to windser more warmer you think is it good idea ?
Great information I got from your videos
I just want to know that can we have two credit cards from two different banks? Will it effect our credit score?
You can have as many cards as you want, as long as you pay them off on time; and keep your balance less than 30% of your credit limit.
Hi guys, please make a video regarding the situation , difficulties, reality in Canada for those future visitors or immigrants whether to choose Canada or another country thus helping them to make a good decision so that they become aware of it and plan their life as these immigration requires huge amount of money.

Rent in Halifax not that low anymore unfortunately. 1650 for one bedroom apartment is average anywhere in Halifax now. And near downtown it will cost more than 1800 dollars!
I am moving to Halifax this summer

bc is overpriced and alberta is a dirt polluted dumpster 🤣🤣🤣
Bc way to expensive lousy ndp government
As a French and English speaker ,I will choose Quebec City or Montreal
🙌
Sherbrooke are à great city both university french english most privates school per capita both langage.
Great activity outdoor lake montain etc....
My grandparents hometowns both made the list 🥰 thunder bay and Trois Riviere :)
Also I feel like a good strategy to get newcomers to settle outside the GTA would be to issue a SIN with COPR so that newcomers can look for a job anywhere in Canada before landing
That’s a brilliant idea - why haven’t they figured it out?!
@@MakeThatChange I've no clue. I really do think it would help. The current situation of having to apply for a SIN post landing understandably leads newcomers to land where they have the highest probability of getting a job. The info they ask for at service Canada is the same info IRCC already has for each applicant, so I don't imagine it would be too hard to just include the SIN. It could.be a great opportunity for smaller cities to attract talent and fill some of their most acute labor shortages
@I Rojnica that's where I'm running from 😂
@@dobrenkijbog8805 have you ever lived in the US? If you have not, please kindly keep your uninformed opinion to yourself.
@I Rojnica Not just newcomers, Canadians too if you want more money and lower expenses.
Thunder Bay was 5 times the national average in homicides in 2022, 3rd highest
I really enjoyed Windsor when I was there
Calgary, Edmonton, Regina.
How come no cities from Alberta? Edmonton is a strong candidate and should be in the top 3 anyday. Also it's the biggest city in terms of size, population, job opportunities than any cities discussed in the list
Hi maam. can you tell me the other diffculties about immigrating in canada except finding a jobs and housing.
Pls tell me about Newfoundland St John's city
I will be moving to Calgary very soon. I wonder what would that like to be.
A lot less cheaper and hectic than Vancouver or Toronto.
Great❤
What about Dartmouth, Nova Scotia? Different from Halifax? JMH
Hello Ana and Ana, thank you for the videos and all help shared I have one question.
In your opinion how much 1 adult need monthly salary to live comfortable in Thunderbay or Windsor?
Depends on how much you're usually spending, and are willing to save and invest.
It would be a nice exercise to do to budget for yourself and your needs.
There's a website numbeo.com that can provide information on cost of living in those cities so you can calculate how much you'll be spending on average.
Saving and investing is up to you to decide.
And any of tax calculators will help you calculate your salary before tax vs. how much money you will have left after tax to spend, put aside and invest.
@@MakeThatChange Thank you, will check the websites you shared.
Hi how about the Surrey in British Columbia did u consider also?
Ghetto
Thunder Bay it's beautiful! I left after 2 years because is just too cold. -50C days during January is not unusual, and it snows 6 mounts/year.
yes its cold in January but -50 days? The average high in January is -8c and low -20 and yes thats very cold and we can get wind chills in the minus 30s or so but days of -50 , its just not factual
It’s a typical Canadian climate. Colder than southern Ontario or lower mainland BC but look how far south it is! Thunder Bay is farther south than anyplace in western Canada, it’s not worse ( likely better) than any place on the prairies.
Windsor is an affordable city as if it is close to Detroit Michigan. However I think I should stick to Niagara Falls Ontario as my alternative.
That’s a wonderful alternative!
Niagara falls isnt as cheap as it used to be
@@user-ru2yx3jk9m Well, at least is less expensive than Toronto and Brampton.
"Who needs french when you can work remotely?" This line is absolutely despicable1 So, if you can remotely work in English, you can conveniently ignore most of the people in the affordable city you want to live in! Keep up the good work!
It’s a personal choice based in personal goals for anyone. All the options are out there.
Vive la loi 96 dans ces cas-là...
You skipped Sudbury in Ontario which has a lot to offer, and offers many jobs in many sectors.
Trois-Rivieres (my town) is only 1hr away Montreal ,not 2 hr
👌👌even better!
Halifax here. It’s no longer affordable. We have the lowest wages and highest taxes, rent keeps skyrocketing, and the infrastructure cannot handle the amount of traffic it is now seeing. The wait list for a family dr is at 145,000. I miss the Halifax from a few years ago:(
Yeah, I was shocked by real estate in Halifax recently. Before I retired I worked for a bank with my territory being Atlantic Canada. Surprising how much it has increased.
Windsor used to be decent, but the health care has gone through some terrible leaders. Crime is high due to the border. And its hot and humid.
Great 🎉
🙌🙌
first it is a great video, second can you explain why Calgary is not in the list. It is the 4th largest city in Canada with Housing price less than Hamilton.
An honorable mention could be my home town of London Ontario, mostly known for Western University and nick named "Forest City". Every direction within a 2hr drive or less from London offers a unique destination such as amazing beaches (Port Stanly south, Grand Bend North) , the USA at many different boarder crossings, and the GTA plus skiing, camping and other adventure destinations also) I've lived in Windsor also, but currently live in the ridiculously overpriced city of Toronto. Great thing about Toronto is a vehicle isn't required where most other cities/towns, require a vehicle for most work and day to day life.
We love London, and Western University is gorgeous!
But unfortunately London didn't make the list, as it's not as affordable anymore. Rent is pretty high compared to other cities in the list.
Renting 1br apartment in London would cost $1820 these days vs. $1355 in Windsor for example
@@MakeThatChange WOW. When I lived in London about 10 years ago, a 2 bedroom main floor rental without utilities was less than $1000 near downtown and the university. Prices sure have sky rocketed in the last few years. Yikes.
Oh, Canada!
Damn, that was my plan back in 2018 to move to London once I finished my studies in Ottawa. Things changed in 2019 and 2020. All of Ontario is unaffordable now. London has been the worse. Search homes in London for sale and you’ll see eye-watering prices for little homes. Pre-sales for townhomes are touching a million mark. Same story in Ottawa, GTA, Kitchener-Waterloo, Kingston, and everywhere. Options are Timmins and North Bay but they are expensive too for their size and location. Homes in North Bay at $500k plus. It’s crazy. Calgary and Edmonton became sellers market for the time during that pandemic boom. Record number of people moving to Calgary and Ontario losing net number of people each year. Even worse in Vancouver and anywhere in BC. East hastings area in Vancouver is just third world now, becoming LA and San Francisco…working people living on the streets, I have no hopes anymore, I plan to move to US for higher salary and relatively affordable homes…Ontario has gone to shit…There was a little town in the news few months back which was seeing homes getting sold at a million dollars, away from any big city…Atlantic Canada is even worse…Halifax is becoming too unaffordable…home ownership among my generation is on a free fall…it’s demotivating :(
London is pretty boring.
Which city is the best for me doing Master in Water Resources engineering , affordable living cost and job perspective?
Province of Quebec has the lowest education costs and affordable living.
For job perspectives I suppose you'll move wherever you find your first job and gain Canadian experience. And then after a year or so you can look for new job elsewhere if you want.
What about winsder Ontario please late me know
I'm a correctional officer here in jamaica and i would love to come to canada
Trois-Rivières is your best bang for you buck. One factor that wasn't mentioned is that it has a very low crime rate as opposed to Thunder Bay, Regina, and Saskatoon. However, I definitely recommend you learn French if you live anywhere in Québec.
💯🙏
Please tell us about London, Ontario

So should you or could you find a job first before heading to any of these cities?
Or you will have to be physically there, that means already securing a place to stay first before finding employment there?
It all depends on your profession and the state of the market. In any case, we always recommend to visit the city before deciding to settle down in it.
It would be great if you also add local universities meanwhile 😉

@@MakeThatChange You are welcome.
Lethbridge Alberta!!!! I live here very cheap many jobs.
That’s great to know!
Pls tell me more about Lethbridge Alberta, I want to come there. If possible let's chat
Having moved to Vancouver 1.5 years I can confirm that it doesn't belong on the affordable list. Also, I moved there from Windsor which is on your list. My 1 bedroom downtown was a LOT cheaper than your average of $1355. I was only paying $850 right on the main downtown street of Ouellette. And it was nice too. Clean, quiet, spacious. Now that same apartment is $1200. A 40% increase in just 18 months.
That figure for downtown Windsor is misleading. I'm paying $900/month for a 1BR in one of the worst neighborhoods. If I moved out, and back in, it would be double. 2BR units start at about $1900/month, unless you're splitting an illegal boarding house, which are very popular here now. Windsor has gotten terrible in the last 6-8 years.
Nice video. But I would be curious to know why you talked about both Saskatchewan main city and did not mentioned Winnipeg. Did you consider Winnipeg ?
Winnipeg is a great option too! We will do another video with more cities in the future
@@MakeThatChange actually, I do not care if Winnipeg made the list or not. I'm actually wondering why Regina or Saskatoon are a better option. If you look at the numbers Winnipeg is a bigger city, so I assume more job possibilities. And the real estate citation is affordable, I think it's about the same as the Saskatchewan. And Manitoba I thing has a better health system. This is my understanding from internet and CZcams. But I can be wrong or missed something.
When we did our research Winnipeg came at a higher cost of living than Saskatoon, that's why we didn't include it.
@@MakeThatChange Good to know thank you.
Nice video,.. how’s the employment in Saskatchewan if I’m coming with tourist visa is it easy to change it to work permit ?
depends on your qualifications and the type of the job you want to do. We recommend you do research on jobs in demand in Saskatchewan and the city you want to move to!
@@MakeThatChange thank you for your reply … I’m checking the jobs in the city everyday I have good jobs experience and Ielts and evaluate my certificate too
Fo those who want the west coast of Canada what would you recommend. Abbotsford maybe? Victoria?
We’re liking Richmond, Squamish, Coquitlam, Victoria is nice but has also become expensive
If moving to BC stay away from the coast! It is the most expensive area in Canada with severe homelessness, drug abuse, healthcare and housing issues. It is impossible to understand the severity of these issues coming from eastern Canada. The Interior of BC is much nicer, although it's much smaller.
I'm interested in moving to Sherbrook
These small city prices, while cheaper than the big cities, are still very high compared to 20 years ago even in the big cities!
So sad and so true 🥲
