    When Patrick Stewart accepts the offer for dinner, it reminded me so much of my Grandfather who has had a stroke.
    He has a hard time walking and speaking, and going anywhere is a massive hassle, but he has these older values that he insists upon. As Patrick Stewart does, when someone offers you a homecooked meal, you accept gratefully. Even if we are the ones with the wheel chair, my grandfather makes me leave him to go open doors for people. Or if someone is stuck on the side of the road, he makes us pull over to see if we can help, even if we have frozen foods that need to be taken home.
    To him, those are just things you do, regardless of the circumstances, maybe even if people are chasing you down and trying to kill you. It's pretty cool how well they nailed that aspect of Xavier's character.

    This is it. This is the best film in the series by a mile. Logan's not only one of the best comic book movies, but one of the best films of 2017. Like Nolan's trilogy, Rami's first two Spider-Man films, and much of the MCU movies, it's treated with the upmost love and respect.
    So much passion and hard work went into this, which included Jackman's best performance as an actor (right up there with Prisoners). This film is raw emotion, and you truly feel it for its entirety. Should've been nominated for several oscars IMO.
    Jackman and Stewart's swan song. The film that cemented the legend that is Jackman's Wolverine. For me, it's one of the last pieces of my childhood that finally came to a close. Folks in my theater cried, applauded in the end, and even gave complete strangers hugs. Truly an achievement. What a shame we'll never see the real Deadpool team up with Logan.

      Alex Love what makes me really excited is for the mcu to do movies like this (independent small stories) in Phase 4. Cause obviously they've been building up these movies for the past ten years leading up to avengers 3&4, but once that's over Kevin Feige has said they want to do these smaller type movies. Going to be interesting

    @preacherduderox Před 5 lety +1

    God this movie. So many beautiful things I noticed on this second viewing. Now that Professor X has kind of let go, Patrick Stewart channels James Macavoy’s young Professor X so subtly. Logan literally has to fight himself, a self reminiscent of his past. He keeps an adamantium bullet because he wants to kill himself... and he kind of does? The struggle to get Laura to safety is evocative of Logan’s own legacy: his powers have always preserved him, but now what he leaves behind in/with Laura will preserve him. The interpolation of the gang watching the western foreshadows the movie’s end, duh, but it also echoes the superhero genre, as both that film and this film are desconstructions, “end of the genre” type movies. Professor X has been chilling in a pseudo Cerebro looking thang. Logan finally founding out what “this feels like” can both refer to death and finding family.

  • @Brandon_Powell
    @Brandon_Powell Před 5 lety +2

    4:27 Technically Logan isn't in the same timeline as the other X-Men movies. There are a few touches here and there to distinguish it. Not that it really matters though. Even though they aren't connected they were still able to use the emotional connection of these characters that have built up over the years to send them off properly. And I prefer the ending of Days of Future Past to be the ending of the X-Men timeline anyway.

    BUT
    Your review style with all this confuses me, this film has sooo much more substance than some of the fun MCU films (which I like a lot btw) but it seems you judge films on humour and fun rather than substance and character at times. There should have been a scene where Logan calls him to tell him that Xavier died. He calls him, tells him and then hangs up the phone. Short sweet and to the point.

    This is probably second overall including the MCU. Infinity was such a monumental accomplishment so I think it comes just behind that. Ragnorok and Spider-Man are fun comedies but definitely average films

    8:08 There hasn't been a new Mutant born in 25 years? Then why were there young mutants in Xavier's School only a few years before at the End of Days of Future Past if the universes are connected?

    • @zackwoodd4606
      @zackwoodd4606 Před 4 lety +1

      Because they're not the same universe, thankfully. Theres still much debate about it because Hugh Jackman said they were different but the director said they were the same. But Professor X basically confirms it's in a different timeline when he says to Logan when he found him he was just a cage fighter but in the altered timeline Wolverine finds him at his house. Another reason is what you pointed out. Logan was just supposed to be a standalone movie and good thing too because if it was in the same timeline it would ruin Days of Future Pasts ending. Which is honestly a much better ending for the franchise

    I feel this movie is pretty overrated to be honest, but maybe that's because I was never all that fond of Fox-men so I really didn't care all that much when he died nor the references to their completely all over the place continuity.

      Wow. You carry that much hate for these movies??

    • @FearTheLivingDFG
      @FearTheLivingDFG Před 5 lety

      Not loving something doesn't mean I hate it. I just never grew an attachment to those films. If anything I started to hop on board during First Class only to then have to get drawn back into the original continuity that I didn't care for in the sequel. There are some casting choices I liked and some of the movies I've enjoyed but overall as a whole I won't miss it when it's gone and since it's more likely we see a more consistent version of the X-Men and mutants in the MCU I'm more so looking forward to what they do with them than get sentimental over a Wolverine that albeit a fine representation of the character but was all over the place story wise and took way to much focus away from the other more interesting X-Men in my opinion.

    • @LukeLovesRose
      @LukeLovesRose Před 5 lety

      So you're excited to see what happens to the X-Men with a studio that proudly uses lines like "I have famously huge turds"? That's what you're looking forward to? That shows a lot about you.

    • @FearTheLivingDFG
      @FearTheLivingDFG Před 5 lety

      Yes it says a lot about me that I'm excited to see a series of movies in a universe that has a consistent continuity, consistent quality, and generally renown for making films I enjoy.
      The fact that was the only thing you looked at in my comment says a lot about you more so than me. And if you're willing to condemn an entire franchise over one line but embrace a studio that brought us such greats as X-Men Origins Wolverine, X-Men The Last Stand, X-Men Apocalypse, and the ever enjoyable Fant4stic then by all means continue to love it.
      Me personally I'm excited to see the X-Men & Fantastic Four actually act like they do and interact within a larger scope of the Marvel Universe and while the MCU isn't perfect it's a lot closer to perfection than anything Fox has been able to do within 2 films straight let alone 20.
