Problem with this story is that people have been killing each other for hundreds of thousands of years without this kind of supernatural event. Meanwhile he didn’t even kill her, he just didn’t save her. Still awful and criminal but it’s ridiculous how things go in this movie.
I can only justify it as a man riddled with guilt which has developed into a mental illness causing these delusions.
