The wife cheats on him, and the movie finds a way to make him the bad guy anyway LOL
I know right, strange world you and I live in
Instead of focusing on the wife cheating on him we should talk about how men bottle up their emotions so much that they let people die or murder their own loved ones because of it..... that seems like a way deeper issue
@@kingkylie9655 You would understand it better if you truly loved someone with your heart and found your other half Cheating on you. It sure makes you a murder. Life matters or it doesn’t. You either protect it or you discard it. A nihilist will chose the latter.
Not risking your life to save someone doesn't make you a murderer. Not simply pulling her out of a bathtub does.
From what I've seen, both of the major characters are unlikeable. She cheated on him and he killed his first wife.
@@morefiction3264 A crime of passion from what i heard, he found out his wife was cheating on him and saw her in need and in that extreme emotional distress was unable to decide using logic and rational. That is the defense of Crime of passion, hence why he was probably not in jail too. aside from the just not getting caught. But in real life, I see that defense actually working. I mean, you can't have also put her there too tho. lmao. BUT even in that case, crime of passion from snapping CAN result in a very very short stint in prison instead of life. Amanda's like 20yrs younger than Kevin Bacon, young enough to be his daughter (❁´◡`❁)
This movie is very heartbreaking
While it has several great moments and it also makes the husband look like he was doing right for his little girl, he was being tormented by thoughts of his spouse cheating (which she confessed he was right), wrestling with his inner demons from his past prior to his current marriage, and then being forced to confront himself and confess that he was indirectly responsible for his first wife’s death, choosing not to save her and accepting the consequences for his actions or lack there of; such stellar acting by KB
I know some people would say KB’s character was the bad guy, and in some cases it may be true, but I feel this movie made his character much more complicated than that: A lot of people are outraged by murder and would consider that the capital offense, worse than cheating/betrayal; women have always been vocal about their suffering at the hands of their spouse; however, this movie shows that even men have suffered at the hands of their spouses as well; the problem in my opinion is that while women seem to be allowed to vent their anger and feelings, men are almost always forced to keep their feelings, anger, pain, etc hidden away due to the stereotype that men have to be essentially emotionless (Spock-like); the problem with this stereotype is that being forced to bottle up the pain and suffering almost always leads to the person snapping and creating a dire situation where people could be hurt, maybe even killed; I can speak from personal experience as I had always bottled up my anger and pain because I was ridiculed for being vocal about my emotions as a child, eventually lashing out and saying or doing something hurtful to others after I couldn’t bottle up anymore.
I feel that being cheated on/betrayed is much worse than most people want to admit because of the emotional damage/scarring that is inflicted upon the person who was betrayed/cheated. Don’t get me wrong, murder is among the worst, if not the worst thing to ever do, but betrayal is not a minor issue in my opinion as it can have long-lasting effects and/or consequences for it.

Not saving someone is not "killing" them.
Yeah, but consciously deciding to let them die, fully knowing they’ll die, is killing them. As your making a willful decision to let them die.
@@nevermore7285 No it is not "killing".
It is very important that you learn the difference before thinking you can make a moral judgement.
If you have a duty of care, ie if you were a paid lifeguard at a pool and you let someone drown you might be able to make that argument the lifeguard "killed" someone.
But if you were driving down the road and you saw a house on fire, and you didnt stop your car and rush into the burning house, and someone died, you didnt "kill" them.
@@wizrom3046 Except in that case you have know way of knowing if someone is in danger, and in order to save them you would have to risk your life. You are choosing not to risk yourself for another, and it would cost you something to potentially save them.
But if you willingly let someone die who you could save when there is zero risk to yourself, simply because you don’t like them or don’t feel like it, that’s killing them. It would be like if you saw someone choking or having a seizure and just let them writhe on the floor without trying to help, because you didn’t “feel” like it.

Hollywood- lets make cheaters victim 😂
Marriage is truly a horror story because no sane man with integrity should ever sign a government contract that will literally revoke him of his freedom.
Never get into a legal contract where other party is revarded for breaking/violating it.
I never understood why they turned the audience against the new wife minutes before the end of the movie when he found what he found. Made no sense to me.
I think it's to show that he's making a different choice than he did with his first wife. With the new wife he now has every reason to resent and hate her like his previous wife, because of her cheating. But he's making a different decision than before, despite having the same feelings eventually, as he did with the first wife. He's accepted his fate. So he's letting them go to effectively save them. She had to do something bad to show this change.

If the house wasn't so woke, he'd be leaving with the kid and his wife would be stuck in the hell house.
@@josemexicanmexican7602yup.
His wife was practically sui¢idal and now she haunts him until he dies.
The new one cheats on him and takes away his daughter while he has to suffer all the consequences.
I think i see a pattern here
In Islam, people who commit marital affairs get stoned to death… Makes things so much easier.
I'm a fan!

@@rachelelizabeth4619 wait, what did he call her?
@@ashishdevadig2835 SUSpicious😂
nope. Blondie is his second wife. She did, indeed, cheat on him. He watched his previous wife drown and refused to save her because he was miserable and didn't want to be with her anymore. As a result of this, the house trapped his soul as punishment but allowed his second wife and daughter to leave.
