- Mind-bending series hosted by John Newland, your guide to the unknown! Based on true, supernatural events that defy scientific explanation, this show appeals to fans of The Twilight Zone and The Outer Limits.
THE RETURN OF MITCHELL CAMPION: A man is known by everyone on a small Mediterranean island he has never visited. Soon, he too remembers being there before, but he was in the hospital at the time of the supposed visit. Stars the great Patrick O'Neal.
I was born on 1960 and I'm watching this 61yrs later for my first time and its a sheer delight a TV joy of great scripts dialogue and acting
the year you were born I joined The Royal Signals for nine years. (it was very interesting!

you know you been binge watching OSB when you start to recognize the furniture from one show to an other.
Lol
lol
I always notice the sets too since my son became a theater major in college! Haha I love that! Being able to relate on more levels!💟✝️💞
I have also become a binge Watcher of OSB! 😂 And Gunsmoke! Love to notice the horses! You learn to know who's at the bar by seeing the horses tethered out front.😉 just like in the good old days!
Peace love and blessings!
Are you a Google representative?
How do I relate to you? What s it to you that I warch on this my phone?
A wonderful actor with a distinctive voice and look. Patrick O‘Neal was much underrated and died too young in his mid 60‘s. America was rich in great character actors back then, stage trained and brilliant!
Redcoat‘s Return remember his old tv commercial,Brachs chocolates 🍫,I wish I could see one of his old commercials again
@@jprz13 It's probably on CZcams.

"died too young in his mid 60‘s." Like millions of Americans; death in their 60s is common. The obituaries show that much.
I remember him as the architect in ‘blueprint for murder’ (I think? 🤷🏻♂️) was snoozing when I heard his voice 😅
I just love 💕 being able to watch this series now, I like it more than anything on t.v. right now. It seems that when John Newland,Rod Serling, Alfred Hitchcock and others stopped writing we lost some of the best writers that ever put pen to paper !! My son bought me the entire set of Twilight Zone for Christmas and I was so glad, the show’s today cannot hold a candle to what was written then. Thank you for putting this on you tube for us to watch again!!! 😎😃😁😎❤️
Hitchcock wasn't a writer, but he did have great taste. Still, I know what you mean. Perhaps it's because the human race, despite our technological advances, is getting dumber and dumber with each generation, from Cro-Magnon times until today. Watch the movie 'Idiocracy' for an explanation of this process. It is a comedy, but that doesn't keep it from being true.
There's no doubt it's a very original awesome and entertaining show.
Today's shows are insulting dopamine hits
2 years ago I was obsessed with this. In the past few months I’ve been looking for it EVERYWHERE, thinking it was called “Above The Beyond”
I can't seem to get enough of this show . Thanks for the uploads .
Me too!
So often I've dreamed of places I wanted to go. When I was young I used to be able to go there in my thoughts. I think I was actually at the place I was dreaming about. I'm almost 70 now and I wonder how much of my life has been reality and how much has been a reality I created. I don't know the answer and will probably die not knowing how this all works, but I think I'll realize it someday.
Lockdown is gonna be a reality until the compulsory vaccinations.
@@ronfroehlich4697 Not me.
What would we do without our dreams.
The one thing I like about this show is that all the stories are based on true events.
I like a lot more about this series than that! I love the way the true stories are presented. This episode is one of my favorites. Who knows where we go when we are “dead” for a few minutes. And he was in the photos too!
Almost everything you read or learn is based on the real thing we don't know the truth
I'd never heard of this series before a few days ago. Now I'm a total OSB addict!
Love is hard to deny. It brings back a perspective of things "forgotten."
And in NYC, we all got to keep Patrick O'Neal, who stopped drinking later in life and became a celebrated restauranteur, GINGER MAN, O'NEAL'S BALLOON. Terrific guy, proudly sober, and a darn good actor here, too!!!
Interesting. I didn't recognize him in this episode, but googling him I recognize him as a familiar character, for me, from the 70s and 80s. I agree he was very good in this episode.
@Cliff Yablonski hahahaha ME TOO 😂😂😂😂😂
Patrick O'neal owns Ginger Man on 36th? That's wild, never knew it. But much like the protagonist here, I have no memory of visiting many NYC haunts...;-)
I remember being told in culinary school, in NYC, that the restaurant was called O'neal's Balloon because at the time they could not use the word Saloon.
This is mind bending , imagine waking up not knowing you've been asleep In a parallel universe !!!??!!??
These true stories never get old.
I really enjoy all of these episodes of One Step Beyond but for some reason this one really resonated with me.
I knew a woman would make him have second thoughts about matters! Good cast and acting. Thank you.
LOVE this actor Patrick O’Neal is too bad that he was underrated he was a heck of a good actor he was talented and had great looks to match.RIP Patrick .❤️❤️👍👍🤗

One of my favorite episodes of this awesome series I loved as a kid. So glad this is here. Thank you John Newland for your insight. RIP
“I understood for the first time that I didn't understand what I thought I understood”― Seiji Ozawa.
Love that quote ❤❤❤
This was a great story, and Patrick O'Neal supplied his usual excellent performance. It's hard to believe this could happen but it did. One of the best episodes of this show ever.
I ALSO have fallen in love with this old TV show. I don't know why, it;s just interesting and I occasionally wondered why it haven't returned as a REIMAGINED program.
It’s just so well done. Scripts, casting, acting
This show is based on true events, use to watch as a kid, the music really creeps me out!

Thank you so much for uploading this series.
Patrick O'Neal !!!!! yea!!! all these actors i have not thought of for ages - just wonderful :}
Great episode with the always watchable Patrick O’Neal ,
I LOVE JOHN NEWLAND !!!
Me too 😊😊😂😂
Its interesting to see these... If they are going to do remakes on tv it should be some classics like these!
Angel Barbela ...and what of the actors in the series??? Names of players in this charade!?!?🤗🤣😂😁😎😃😄
Angel Barbela Concierge has the look and a very similar voice of one Ed O Neill. In Married with Children and Modern Family tv series. Serieses. Both. Look and listen to the man behind the desk speak...very carefully. Lol. Remake in 1978....makes sense. 10 years younger than on MWC. IT IS HIM.
It wouldn't be as good if they did remake these because of the way people act and direct wouldn't be able to get it done right.
duckmangoes I agree. It would lose its "charm" so to speak as to the nostalgic feelings this show creates when watching it today. The black and white filming, the actors from that time, the time period of late 50's, early 60's tv itself, etc.
They remade it. It was awful. If they remade it today, every episode would be woke SJW crap.
Mitchell's love interest is played by Lilyan Chauvin who, like Patrick O'Neal (Mitchell), was a prolific character actress. For example, she played Joey's Italian grandma in an episode of Friends.
Maple Leaf ....k, who plays desk clerk?
Was she in Predator 2 the older scientist woman that they took one of the Predator's weapons to and she determined it was not of this earth?
I hope he stays with her and lives his life to the fullest. 1/19/21

8:18. "I just don't know..for some reason I don't quite recognize all these guys or these average looking women around here..but wait! Hold up a sec!..theres definitely something about this attractive woman that's ringing a bell"...classic.
"Summer heat" and wearing a suit and tie and leather shoes. That is OSB!
back when actors could act and the plot depended on good writing. not like the crap today.
These episodes are so intriguing you don’t notice the static after a while.
Very interesting episode, makes you think. Thank you for uploading these, again, they are excellently done.
Thank you very much for the uploads great show
Notice how he's dressed in black while everyone else has light colored clothing?
Now I have to replay... good observation 😎
WOW, I NEVER saw this episode before! Peter Lawford was so young. I have heard of other strange stories such as this before. I myself was in critical condition.... I went somewhere during that time... I woke up in a trauma hospital 5 days later. I did not remember 1 thing leading up to my bleeding to death. But revived either in the ambulance or hospital.. just not sure. But I remeber where I went........
This was one of the better ones.
Another completely engrossing episode, and such great settings.25 minutes just fly by....
Definitely one of the better episodes with a young Patrick O’ Neal in a Before they were famous moment
I LOVE JOHN NEWLAND
Don't remember this particular episode when I watched this show on its original broadcast. But watching it now some of the outside background scenes look the same as in the Combat TV show too.
Thanks for uploading the show.
Very nostalgic n interesting.
The place where the girl lives was part of another episode, in which seversl soldiers see a light in the sky at night which makes them have different experiences which causes them to quit fighting. Pernell Roberts was the leader. This set appears near the end when the attorney goes to get them some cognac before they are to be shot and a German soldier walks into the little house, unarmed. He tells the lawyer about German soldiers who also saw the light. The set , however, looked run down, from being in the war.
The past repeats itself....so do people. It s all in our genes.
Identical twins separated at birth given the same name upon adoption. One was there while the other was in a coma. Not an unknown twin phenomena. I had a friend who is an identical. She experienced labor when her twin delivered who had no pain. She simply went to the hospital because she knew her twin was in labor and soon to deliver, no one called her. But this theory doesn't explain the same last name because adoptees acquire their new parents last names, but even that while improbable is not impossible.
Quelle belle série ! Merci du partage.
I beg to differ sir! This is not a case of telaportation, he did not leave the hospital bed. This was astrelprojection, he was n the hospital bed and on the island at the same time🧐!!!😆😁 Good show!
so many of these stories on One Step Beyond deal with the concept of Bi-Location, has anyone else noted that
Good one! Thanx!!

The power of the spirit is amazing you can transport your self to other places with the power of your spirit specially if you care about another person and see what's going on
Stop.
The idea is very good, but the script editors were extremely confused about the details. Francesca is an Italian name but she speaks Spanish, Alexis is Greek, the policeman speaks with a strong French accent and the guesthouse is called "Hotel du Sud" with all the workers who speak Spanish and look precisely Mexican. What a minestrone.
And that shop was called Mario's which is English spelling
@@factenter6787 yep, I forgot that... 🤣
look as long as they don't hate me, I'll just nod and smile.
All I can say is ......whoa! Truly mind bending!!!!!!!!!!!!
It happened to me 46 yrs ago this Oct. I was in the calif ocean off monterey unable to swim back. My life flashed before me in an instant. Then just 13 yrs later i was taking my first ride in a DeLorean with a beautiful girl in my lap as we bar hopped. The next morning i found myself traveling in time. It was only 5 minutes but it repeated. There is something to these shows.
Hey this dude came on Twilight Zone....A Short Drink From a Fountain. Cool. 😎
Alice he also played in a Alfred Hitchcock epsoide call Bed Of Roses when you get the time I hope that you will watch it on You Tube I am quite sure you will like it have great weekend -- November 1,2020

Great episode, thanks for the upload.
Weirdest case of a Near Death Experience or NDE and bilocation. Normally one travels to the afterlife upon NDE but this gentlemen seems to have travelled to an island where loved ones (perhaps from a previous incarnation) lived. Thanks for sharing! ✨🖖🏻
for a person bed bound this is a dream
One thing that is strange about this story, is that if he did teleport to this Island he had to pay for the hotel he had to pay for food and taking Francesca out on dates that's the part I wonder about.??? If he did have money on him I want to learn the secrets and teleporting money across whatever, I'm going to wish for about half a mil right now in cash.
Great great show!
Met a guy once, Mac we'll call him, who took a huge dose of LSD to avoid getting busted in Boston. Next thing he knows he woke up in a mansion in L.A. A guy knocked on his door and entered and then Mac says, "where the hell am I?" The guy at the door looked amazed and yells "Silent Bob is talking!"
Evidently he had been there several months, he knew not how he got there. But the weird part was, he dreamt he went to Vegas or Reno, and won $100 grand. He had $100 grand in his pockets. Yet he had not left that place for months. His friends told him he mainly stuck around the house only going out with them to local sites. Have often wondered if the silent Bob movies were based on him. This occured in the 1960's so it was before those.
Pockets MacCartney Must have been some mighty big pockets in those pants!
This is probably most clearly a case of amnesia and confused records...He could've used his old passport before that to visit, got married to her, then gotten into an accident, head hurt, amnesia...mixed up the data and dates.
I know exactly what you mean, been watching these 1/2 hour episodes since I started getting into the paranormal. 14 yrs old & botanicals & anything with Krishna in it, TMS, kenetics, out of body, ect.
Love this stuff! Thanks :)
Wow. I love this one! déjà vu
This episode was redone by Twilught Zone in the 1970's or early 80's as a guy who came out of a coma.
Thanks!
Yep...same thing happens to me every time I die. It really gets nerve-racking
after a while. lol
I've actually heard of this happening on another occasion
Cliff Yablonski ....yes. And these shows are remade, redone, rebooted and refurbished. Re acted, etc. Possible and probable. After all it is hollyweird. Er, it is what they are all about!!🤗😎😉😁
@@dannynicastro3207 Agreed. Been binge watching episodes. Watched one day before yesterday: same story (few minor changes), different actors, girl very sick and dies in the end. Damned if I can find it in my play-list though... think its one for the programme??? :-)
@@obsidiandwarf probably
@@obsidiandwarf MM maybe you were in the hospital having heart surgery yesterday....and ............
This is the one which makes absolute sense. A guy named Miguel was in trouble, he got corrective surgery and faked his death, and tried to restart in another place, tried to pretend to be someone else with the same name and similar look, and trying to tell everyone I'm "nit that Miguel" I'm a different one
Love this show
Oyoyoyoi, that Senior Campion - he's such a kidder.
He's a doll!
All of these shows give me Deja Vu not sure why.... do they all start exactly the same or what?
@Cliff Yablonski Nah that's not it. Hot Lips must have just clicked the repeat button by mistake.
This can happen, it is a long story but I once looked down on a car accident that I was in. I was driving one of the cars.
Great
Wow! Good episode.
I'm binge watching this and I'm far from being full!
You mean this program is addictive? Is that called binging as if you were a gambler at the casino everyday?
@@shirleyfunte3063 It's a fascinating show, the stories well written and intriguing. I remember as a kid trying to watch them in the 60s, but my asshole bully of a father would switch on the fucking football and beat me mercilessly for challenging him.
Any story content that probes the Human condition in such a profound way that raises questions of our humanity is bound to he spellbinding and addictive ( to a point )
📌That widow's peak in the thumbnail tho.🕸️🕷️😂
Utterly gripping!
At 8:27...concierge resembles Ed O Neill, in his younger days. Say 1970s...possibly, probably a lookalike. Two Al Bundys.🤗😉
4 touch downs in a single game ? No it couldn't be !
I don't know why but I laughed so hard when seems like all the employees of the inn knows him I was thinking this will be a good prank 🤣😂 anyway good story indeed..
The hotel is called HOTEL DU SUD . THAT S A FRENCH NAME.
Yet we Re on a SPANISH ISLAND
Interesting episode
Interesting,I do wonder if anyone has felt this wag?
Very true story. Fact.
We are in a very grave sitution because we are faceing an unseen enemy every day (Corona Virus) and we have to stayed at home.Sometimes we felt so dreadful and bored. So we could spend our time by watching some good short movies like 'One step beyond,' 'I love Lucy' "Twilight Zone' etc.
This happens a lot! They're called "near death experiences,: but they are really DEATH experiences, in which all vital functions have ceased. However, the individuals travel in their astral bodies, and normally can't be seen. But maybe, if someone has a very "vibrant" soul, they might manifest physically.
Originally telecast on April 7, 1959.
I love this show. I keep wondering if there is a real explanation. Was there a mess up with the paperwork.
Director's screwup! Wearing suit/tie in that place is completely out of character.
Good one!
So I finally see the original
Love One Step Beyond
Looks like the lady’s Princess Leia buns slipped off her ears! hahaha
He should stop worrying about it and go with the flow and find out later. Like the pretty lady, he perked up when she came along.
The stories getting crazier each one
The hotel was named Hotel Du Sud,which is Portuguese, the people speak Spanish, thegirl that passes him in front of the hotel as he comes out looks Asian , maybe Polynesian, the lady's name is Francesca, which is Italian and the travel agency, which has a French name is run by a Frenchman. The set of the village looked like it was used in other 60s shows, like Man From UNCLE or Secret Agent Man, exotic little far away island countries. I guess they didnt want us to know where this takes place. The actress that played Francesca, Lylian Chauvin was actually French born. She looked much better than they made her look here. Here she was so plain it hurt to look at her. Should have been prettier to be the love interest. Great story, although I dont knw if it was true. When they remade it for the New One Step Beyond, the girl dies at the end. She died of love !!! He gets to her just as she is dying.
axiomist I thought the woman Franseca was quite beautiful. Not "plain" at all imo. Incredible facial bone structure; the camera loves her.
I think she had a beautiful profile with strong jawline and a nice nose
A man did a chalk portrait of me I felt just average looking but he made me look really good. Then he did two of my friends and they looked awful I asked him why and he said I draw what I see. That was in the 70s
So basically was it a medical situation that he was going through or he was teleported.??
I think the implication was that when he died for that four minutes he was teleported in a way through space and time to that place. Even though in reality he was only gone for 4 minutes, they say that time can be relative when going through certain experiences, as the example stated about how a drowning person can experience their entire lifetime in those mere moments.
Good one
If only I could of lived back then
Don’t mean to bring the room down, but first thing I thought was that he had dementia. It’s eerily similar what folks with the disease go through every day. It’s torturous! :(
Yes it is truly a horrible disease
Why the sarcasm?
@@shirleyfunte3063 Which response seemed sarcastic? If it was mine, it wasn’t meant to be! I’m serious when it comes to dementia. It’s a tough disease to navigate.
It was hard for me sometimes but it seemed pleasant for dad. He was living in the past sometimes he knew who I was and sometimes he didn't
Can someone explain this episode to me, I’m so confused. I get the theme is teleportation but I’m not quite understanding.
Understanding is over rated. I show up in a vacation spot, the staff treats me like a regular and a beautiful girl falls into my arms....I'm going to start demanding answers?? Not me pallie...
The "teleporter" died in an American hospital during surgery, and was revived after a few minutes, but it left him in a coma for a few weeks... Instead of having his whole life flash before his eyes, (like any "normal" dying person would), he teleported (in the astral plane) instead, to a beautiful island (in a different country) which he had read about before going into surgery. He stays on that island for the few weeks while he is in a coma, and becomes a "regular" at the hotel, and falls in love. Then he suddenly and mysteriously disappears from the island, as he wakes up from his coma in the US.
The "teleporter" does not remember his "astral travel" when he has awoken from his coma, but decides to recooperate from his surgery/coma on that very island he had read about before going into surgery. He gets a passport for the very first time in his life, as he has never been outside the US before, and he travels to the very island where he had been "astral travelling" to, while he was in his coma. He "astral travelled" to that island in the first place, because he had read about it before going into surgery.
When visiting that island for the first time in his life (in his "awake state"), he discovers that he has "astral travelled" to the same place only a few weeks earlier, while he was in a coma. He sees pictures of himself with the people on that island, proving to him that he has been there in the time while he was in a coma in a US hospital, and he has a vague memory of having been on the island before.
Hey Misses... dumbo just sit on d pot and say bloody mary
