Just wanted to say thank you for all you have shared with us, I just enjoy totaly these old time sci=fi television shows.. keep up the great job...
Thanks!
Another great episode. No CGI and flash, just good acting and fascinating stories. Better than what is on tv these days.
Love the date under the Captain's portrait. "1860-1902" she reads ... that would make him aged 42 when he passed, although the portrait looks more like he's 82. Must have been quite weathered from the sea ... LOL! 😅 Been thinking n a "One Step Beyond" bender lately, just can't see enough of these great shows! 🥰
I was just thinking the same thing.
I had to listen to her saying the date twice to make sure she was saying "1860" instead of "1816". Yes, he would have been around 42 when he died.
I believe that the date under the captains' portrait is referring to the years he was a captain. The portrait was not his tombstone, citing his birth and death as a person. He might not have become a captain before he was in his 40's.

There are not much TV series as good as this nowadays.
Name one, I can't...
Andy is the same guy in 12 Angry men. It's a must see movie
This was the very first episode I saw just having discovered this series.
I had just downloaded the TV mini series SOMETHING IS OUT THERE 1988, Robert Webber's last appearance before he died of ALS in 1989. It was a surprise to stumble on this episode with him playing the possessed young man in the show.
$500.00 a month for a fully furnished 2 story house ?.....The Rent is ... Too Damn High !.......No seriously...this was a great episode.
Multiply by 10 for today's price.
Still watching one step beyond here in england just having a 🥃
I thank you for bringing such a good program ❤
Nice '59 Royal Lancer convertible he's driving
GREAT SHOW.I NEVER KNEW ABOUT IT AS A KID BUT AS AN ADULT I ABSOLUTELY ADORE IT AND JOHN NEW LAND👍👍💟♥️😍🙋♂️
I was sent these shows two days ago. They are fascinating.
Yes, John is a truly wonderful presenter and host for this series. I'd never heard of him before I came across this series. My loss (until now; but no longer). :)

Thank you so much for posting
An excellent series and well worth the watch
Enjoy!!!!!
Why is it movie attics are always full of cool stuff ?
Left eye symbolism on the burning portrait.
Great episode. I love the paranormal. They don't make shows like this anymore.
Inspiration for The Ghost & Mrs. Muir.
The Ghost and Mrs.Muir was a movie made in 1947,later turned into a t.v series in 1968-1970.
But this was an evil spirit, not a good spirit. I have the novel, “The Ghost and Mrs. Muir”, Captain Gregg DID NOT possess someone else’s body.
These are brilliant stories! 👍🍻
sure just break in and have a look around... today you'd be shout and asked questions later
Thank u soooooo much for uploading these awesome shows. I truly so very much appreciate it.
Well, that Realty business is sure doin' a roaring trade!
Leach Realty," an appropriate " name.
Thanks for the excellent films.
This was a good episode thanks for sharing the time capsule 👍🇺🇸
l lover one step beyond from Perú...l washed it with tv. Black and white. 🇵🇪
I barely remember this show from my childhood, classic paranormal stories from Alcoa aluminum.
500 bucks a month back in the 50's was a lot of money! I googled it and that would be equivalent to 5-6k today! No one would pay that much to Rent a House!
When the average pay was 40-60 a week
Many houses rent for much more today!
THANK U SO MUCH FOR PUTTING THIS UP FOR US TO ENJOY AND SUCH EXCELLENT QUALITY.....🙆♀️🙎♀️
Hope you are ok,just wishing random people a happy valentines day🤗🤗🤗🤗🤝❤
Heavy leanings on the old 'Dorian Gray' thing. A good watch all the same. Entertaining.
I LOVE JOHN NEWLAND
I've been in a few unfriendly pubs. Never an unfriendly house...
I cannot imagine a couple in 2020 going through a window to check out a house, I think ghosts would be the least of their worries
It's 2019
Today if they entered a house window they'd find young people getting tattoos, smoking meth and delivering herpes babies on the floor.
@@lordviperscorpion3271 No it's actually 2019, I swear with my stinger

Wow for an old, uninhabited house there sure must be a lot of natural light coming in to create all those shadows, one of my favourite shows though.
This actress knocked it out of the park in rolls as the malicious homley fatal! Columbo. 12 years later!
I’d left that house as soon as I seen that frowning captains picture 😱
Rent 500.00 month...potential renter ; he says to much lol times have changed 💰 in the year 2020
A very good episode.
The Ghost and Mrs. Muir meets The Shining.
So..."The Ghost and Mrs. Torrance," then...?
@@willmfrank redrum 😬
Boy oh boy I really got my pizza fix with this one 🍕
Creepy old house, strange occurrences, behavior changes: YEP, we'll take the house LOL 😂🤦🏾♀️
One of the best episodes! Really enjoyed it.
Leach realty. Descriptive name.
That was the doc from Back to the Future 😀😀😀😀😀😀😀🏃🏃🏃🏃🔙🔙
I thought he looked more like another version of Mark Twain/Samuel Morse. With a grudge. Or an old Edgar Allan Poe. With a grudge.
OMG he shot Thumper!
now they won't get their security deposit back.
At 9:33, did that klutz step on her foot...???
what a great program, .
Ha ha. Regardless of the couple entering the building without permission, would anyone really make an initial judgement on whether to rent after just looking at one room? :)
They would to avoid a lengthy scene of just viewing a house.
Just love the music.
Nancy Hadley is the ideal brunette. Intelligent, graceful, poised. She didnt show up as much as she deserved. Probably didnt want to because she was intelligent.
She looks very much like my niece Mareen.
@@leecoffman2594 : Then your niece is beautiful.
I find her very attractive.💓
thankyou
Two Star Trek (TOS) alumni in this episode: At 6:00 , there's the always-memorable Jon Lormer ("Dr. Theodore Haskins" of the American Continent Institute - "The Cage" and "Menagerie, Part 1; "Tamar" in "Return of the Archons"; and "Foolish Old Man" in "For the World Is Hollow, And I Have Touched the Sky") and, at 7:00 , Felix Locher (who played the superannuated "Robert Johnson" in the episode "The Deadly Years").
The tune he plays on the piano is the Skye Boat Song from Outlander!
That song has been around for hundreds of years, sung by generation after generation, and now abandoned. It's sad that people only know it from TV now.
Good episode.
Did you notice the dates Cloris Leachman noted when she 1st looked at the painting of the old Sea dude- ( 1860- 1902)... I never have seen a 42 year old man, and painted earlier, so say 37 as a guess, looking quite as "Aged" , as this guy??..lol
I was thinking the same thing.
I thought the same thing. And what was up with the realtor’s hair?
The Picture of Dorian Gray didn't age well either...
I had to stop and see if anyone else thought, "Damn! That dude sure lived a rough 42 years!" 😄
@@LazyIRanch He had a wife in every port...
1860-1902 was under the captain's portrait...he looks way older then 42 yrs old there...lol
Merci
I hate when that happens.
Nothing says, "I'll be a good neighbor" like a little unlawful entry.
So the house had a demon . Alot of them do when their old houses
They hold emotional memories.
That portrait looks like Father Jack from Father Ted, when he was young
Love glad I found that much brought the box set never look back amazing seres ❤❤😊
I thought that was Glenn Ford for a moment.
This one made me laugh!
1860 to 1902? The guy in the picture was only 42??? Looks 142!!!
My thoughts exactly! LOL! Well, maybe not 142, but nearer 72 than 42, certainly!
Jack Cassidy was 47 when he died..He looked like he was 72
😂😂😂
I believe that the date under the captains' portrait is referring to the years he was a captain. The portrait was not his tombstone, citing his birth and death as a person. He might not have become a captain before he was in his 40's.
Based on a true story...meaning her husband was probably possessed by his spirit...but the face changing thing, appearance materially changing may not have happened like so most likely.
Thank you mentioning the car. I haven't seen any other comments about it. It's beautiful.
1860 - 1902 was how long the captain lived shown in the portrait...which would make him 42...he looks 82...lol
Life on the sea with barnackles....tough life
Maybe that's not cloris leachman,.. As an antique dealer, that would be a dream.. all except the old grumpy sea dude
So many weird things happened in those days.
Nancy Hadley played the wife, listed in credits. A short bio mentioned her acting in this series too.
She was gorgeous! I love the outfit she's wearing. I thought it was Cloris Leachman at first, she even sounds like her.
@@LazyIRanch i read that too and went back and thought the same . looks like , not but sounds just like her
Andy plays the theme from Outlander on the piano.
The Male Lead actor was really good; but she was kind of awful lol. Good story. Thank you for sharing this episode.
Like how Bill ran out and left her with the crazy guy! 😆😆😆
1860 to 1902? If that's what fishing does to a 42 year old man I want no part of it!
Andy limping 👻😆😂😆👻
I was wondering if she meant 1816. There's no way he was 40 anything.
I believe that the date under the captains' portrait is referring to the years he was a captain. The portrait was not his tombstone, citing his birth and death as a person. He might not have become a captain before he was in his 40's.
That sea captain looks much older than 42 (which s the age at which was supposed to have died).
😕
Perhaps he was in he's 60s when the painting was done
It was an old painting.
The Shining...explained. That creepy Steven King is a plaigarist.
Steven King is absolutely taking his stories from the OSB episodes:
'The Peter Hurkos Story' = The Dead Zone
'The Clown' = IT
'Make me not a Witch' = Carrie
'The Burning Girl' = Firestarter and Carrie
'The Inheritance' and 'The Lovers' = Christine
'The Reunion' = The Night Flier
'The Tiger' = Cat's Eye & Cat People
'If you see Sally' = Pet Cemetary
'Encounter' = Llangoliers
'The captains Guest' = The Shining
The list goes on...
No wonder Steven King has such a long list of book productions, with so many One Step Beyond episodes to plagiarize!
I wonder if they stayed married ???
Overkill with poor bunners there.
I see hints of the Shining.
Dragged along the bottom of the ship? Barnacles attacked him?
From Wikipedia:
Keelhauling is a form of punishment and potential execution once meted out to sailors at sea. The sailor was tied to a line looped beneath the vessel, thrown overboard on one side of the ship, and dragged under the ship's keel, either from one side of the ship to the other, or the length of the ship
...Keelhauling amounted to a sentence of either death by extreme torture, or minimally a physical trauma likely to permanently maim. The hull of the ship was usually covered in barnacles and other marine growth, and thus, keelhauling would typically result in serious lacerations, of which the victim could later suffer infection and scarring... there was also a risk of head trauma from colliding against the hull or keel...and a risk of drowning.
@@anonagain thank you
Spirits DO attach to inadament objects.
inanimate objects?
Just look at the Bidens!
I spilled a cocktail on my sweater that left a stain behind. Does that count as a "spirit attaching itself to an inanimate object?"
Similar to Amityville haunting
The painting on a the wall looks more like 70 or 60 years old...least 50s & not 42
Evil people will attached themselves to a house and make new tenants uncomfortable is people that been warned about propertyes and houses if a spirit attached themselves to you because you are a week person easy to manipulate
The husband sure is bossy pushing wifey around the place
There’s always an Alpha in a relationship. My Wife Bosses me around.
He wasn't until he was possessed by the spirit.
funny and fun
As always, he should have listened to his wife who told him 4 times to move on. Reminds me a wealthy intelligent man from Holland, Stef Van den Aerde alias of Ad Beers, who encountered aliens while sailing with his family. His wife told him to leave but he didn’t listen. He went into their saucer, his life changed 180• degrees and died a lonely and crazy man. Trust the gut feeling no matter how appealing it looks. Curiosity killed the cat…
In todays money that $500 would be about $5400!!!
I wonder if the old man really did kill Elspeth?
I dunno what's more ridiculous ;
a) that they decided to rent the house after looking at just ONE room
or
b) that they paid $500 monthly rental ( equivalent to more that $5K in 2022)
Did she say 1860 or 1816? Because that's a rough looking 42
that was pretty weird
The man in the portrait does not look 42 years old!
The show ran into overtime.
I believe that the date under the captains' portrait is referring to the years he was a captain. The portrait was not his tombstone, citing his birth and death as a person. He might not have become a captain before he was in his 40's.
She’s cute
Do people usually read aloud?
They do when they want to share something with someone.
And when we the audience need to hear it... Lol 😆.
Guy looks just like Alec baldwin
Did a rat die on his head
OSB would be better without Newland's intros, he can't compare to Serling.
A different show, and it's stupid to think that he had to be exactly like Serling. Newland's presentation was perfect for this show.
annoying show
