- Mind-bending TV series hosted by John Newland, your guide to the unknown! Based on true, supernatural events that defy scientific explanation, this show appeals to fans of The Twilight Zone and The Outer Limits.
before Stephen King's "IT" there was THIS...
THE CLOWN: A mute carnival clown witnesses the abusive relationship between a beautiful young lady (Yvette Mimieux) and her cruel husband. After fleeing from her husband, the young lady seeks refuge in the clown's trailer. The husband burst in, commits an act of violence, and then flees - only to find the spectral presence of the clown haunting his every step.
Every time I think I've seen all the episodes (between retro TV, CZcams and Amazon prime video), you always manage to dig one out to surprise me 😗 So thanks for that; it brightens my day 😳
Thanks for watching! May the Sauce be with you.
Barnes
You saw all the episodes. But yet, there are more. That's because this show wasn't produced in Hollywood or NY like other series. It was produced in a place that has at least one wing in the realm of the unknown. Woo woooo wooo woooooooooooooooooooo!
Best thing about these old shows..... you rarely see many obese americans prancing around.
This one older then me
First time ever watching this, it was long before I was born. I just love all these amazing black and white series, so much better than the rubbish of today. I don’t watch tv anymore, it is historically incorrect, and making my generation dumb. Thank you so much for downloading all these so my generation can watch them. I’m so pleased there are many more episodes to watch.
I grew up during the 60s when they made allot of these, I miss those years.
Rachel may I recommend "The Outer Limits" and of course "The Twilight Zone"(The spooky episodes) Excellent 1960's TV
Amen Rachel!
Same here the story telling is so great at that Era no computer effects or demoralizing stories.... twilight zone is really good at the Era as well....
@@DP-rx6zf there's literally a episode of why thats bad she got stuck in the tv
I was born in the 70s. Those born 20 years earlier were fortunate, yet I am Munch more fortunate than those born 20 years after me. So I am grateful.
well said.
Yvette Mimieux did a great job here and had a great career. She'll always be the pretty girl from "The Time Machine" to me, however. Anyway, Yvette is still very much with us as of this writing.
She was in Where the Boys Are, great movie to a teenager.
She was as hot as it got back then.
WEENA was her character in the Time Machine
@@kaivrock - 78 now, and still hot as ever!
@@GodsFavoriteBassPlyr Wow, I was 9 when this came out. I am kinda glad I didn't see it at the time. I would have had daydreams about Yvette, and nightmares about the clown.
I saw this episode when I was a kid and it scarred me for the next 50 years.
How sad 😞!
But that clown 🤡 is creepy.
The same here I couldn't fall asleep the whole night. 1966
My youngest brother who recently passed away was so frightened of this episode he never went near a clown. I think he was still frightened of them after a tour in the Army. He was so sweet as a kid screaming "whoa! The Clown!"
Not fan of clowns !
Thanks PizzaFllix will pass on this one . See your next fine selection .
As a kid I didn't think clowns were funny but I wasn't afraid of them. I wonder why some children are frightened by them? Psycho husbands are scarier.
boomerang905 I’m sorry for your loss... 😔😔. I don’t blame him... I don’t care if I was an Army Ranger with 1000+ confirmed kills... I’d still be terrified of clowns
@@wvcricker5683 yes. Something so sinister in a painted on smiling face. ☺
I was a Royal Netherlands marine .. special forces .seen shit I'd rather forget. BUT I HATE FUCKING CLOWNS Tgere reaky need to be a law against clowns
Great episode! Poor Clown. He was just trying to help that woman.
Thanks for sharing. I'm loving the nostalgia.
🤡🎬🍿
I disagree to a point he kept wanting to play with the hair of another man's wife that is not normal
I'm in total love with one step beyond, just started watching now its all i watch addicted
Yvette Mimieux, the definition of *gorgeous* . 78 years of age now....
A teen girl of 18, not fully developed yet.
"Look at him, grinning, like it was some big joke."
The smile is painted on, stupid!
"I saw him!"
You saw nothing, stupid!
On the positive, Yvette Mimieux is a perfect ingenue.
This is one of my favorite episodes! Her husband is a malcontent, a depressive!! He has a young wife and she wants to live and enjoy life! But he has this strict morality which is a downer! Glad he got what he deserved in the end!!
A teen wife (18).
No. She's out to sit on the lap of any & every man in visual range throughout the episode, with the possible exception of the clown. What she wants to enjoy doesn't bear mentioning in polite company.
neither was a good match for each other. She wanted to get off her dad's peach stand but sold out too soon, he wanted a good old fashioned girl - both made bad choices.
Of all the episodes from this show, this one is the one that I remember the most. The music from this show was the best and eeriest.
Hey Phill I totally agree with your comment about the awesome moods of the music in these olden golden movies. It’s very nostalgic to hear these old scores and now I don’t have to feel that homesick longing again. 🥺🤭🤗
You are right
The actor who played the husband was terrific.
Handsome as heck too
@@IsaidwithaC 😂
Christphor Dark was his name. A forgotten Character actor. He was in alot of movies and shows in the 1950s into the early 70s
Justice for the clown at the end. Real Fact.
Normally I dislike clowns, in art, pictures, etc., gives me the creeps, and I avoid them in real life, but I wasn't frightened of Pippo at all? What a great episode, Thank You!!!
Me, too!
Simon Cowell of "Britain's Got Talent" is terrified of them in real life !
Rare & Adorable clown
How about Bozo?
To me it was the worst episode ever of a great show One Step Beyond
A bit of trivia I heard long ago. A person who adopts the role of a clown paints his (or her) face to their own design. Each painted face is unique and no other person clown or otherwise may copy it. It will remain the face of the clown who created it forever. The clown in this drama has a most unusual (and beautiful) face.
True! I was gifted *my* clown face by the last living Barnum & Bailey Ringaling Bros.Circus Clown before he died a couple of decades ago. We designed it together, it was a HUGE honor.
@@widowrumstrypze9705 which clown was that?
good piece of info - I really like historical trivia like that.
The orchestral music is so awesome and soulful. It practically tells the story with mood changes that are so apt to each moment of every scene. Goosebumps. 🤗
That just goes to show clowns were creepy back then as they r today thanks for posting
✌
About as creepy as a litter of kittens. I guess my generation was tougher than today's. We weren't afraid of clowns.
@@DavidSmith-sb2ix These morons are afraid of a baby's bottle nowadays 🚼🍼🍼🚼
@@DavidSmith-sb2ix I'm 67. Clowns never seemed funny. Adult dressed up and acting silly. Bored me as a child, unless one got in my face and started acting wildly, carrying on, then I got scared. 😝
@@DankyTheClown Yo Danky!🤪
“The Clown,” Season 2, Episode 27, aired 22 March 1960. Mickey Shaughnessy as Pippo the Clown, Christopher Dark as Tom Regan, Yvette Mimieux as Nonnie Regan, Jack Daly, Bartender, John Close as Buck the Strong Man, Karen Scott as Woman in Bar, James Nolan (as Jim Nolan) Carnival Boss, Paul 'Mousie' Garner (as Paul 'Mouse' Garner) as the Carnival Man, John Newland as Himself-Host.
Good the husbsnd's Regan and goes to prison in this unvetted story, but how that evil strongman who is weak just infers any evil male thoughts on others also just like the husband.
Thanks for the upload, bro! Much appreciated. You're helping me stay entertained & sane in this weird-ass timeline. Stay safe!
wow.. this must have been one of Yvette Mimieux's first roles!
Actually her 2nd credited role
And she’s so beautiful as always
This and that
Wow was i wrong! I thought it was Tuesday Weld!
WEENA!!!
Check out Twilight zone where you can see Robert Redford and other actors that are huge today. They got their start back then
There's another old movie and hard to find called "freaks". About a traveling carnival. The ending is scary and eerie.

This one? It's definitely one messed up film...
Have it in DVD. One of my favs!
Vandal Savage yup! That's it. Thanks!
La Fleur Chéri that is amazing! You know the two dwarfs or little people. They are in real life brother and sister.
@@dietpepsi2154 Yes I did know. The DVD I have gives a little background on a few of the "freaks".
I've been binging on this series during lockdown! Never heard of it before, but I love it!
tv shows like this were classic ..
she is fine..and the strange story...a billion times better and more interesting than anything we have now ....
Yvette! Such a smile!
Clowns get portrayed as scary. I remember Bozo and Hobo Kelly on TV. My uncle took us to see the circus every year until I was 14. They always made me laugh.
We had Flippo the Clown as a local central Ohio show and TV host on WBNS TV Channel 10 Columbus Ohio and he did a good job. No worries there at all. The darn clown in Steven King's novel "It" helped ruin it. Not fair
I am Puerto Rican and I so admired "El Payaso Chico" from Mexico which was on channel 47 in N.Y.C. '70s thru early 80s , but personally my all-time favorite is Bozo the clown 🌟👍
Whoa...that was dark.
I HATED the ending, the clown was taken off for a murder he DIDN'T commit. Only a story, but TOO close to real life, where the good pay the price when the EVIL get away.
He wasn't evil. He did not mean to kill her. He was cursed by marrying a woman who was not wife material.
Good episode. Clowns are creepy, dont get how some people can like them. I loved Yvette in this, she had one of the best figures in Hollywood . Her and Tuesday Weld , I thought were so adorable.
The clown had supernatural powers. Heehee
the husband is a clown of another sort
He is a transvestite who jacks off to photos of mass graves.. 😀😀😀😀😀😀😀😀🌙🌙🌙🍭🍭🍭🍭🏃🏃🏃🏃🏃🏃
If only the chick's acting skills were as good as her looks!
Yup🤪
Every character in this episode is just a little left of center.....a little "off".....but cruelty is deliberate....isn't it?
what was wrong with that marriage? in one word, everything. She wanted to get off her daddy's peach stand - don't blame her, I would too. He wanted some ooh la la, besides that they had nothing for real between them.
Omg that's weena from the time machine 1960 she is most beautiful girl I've ever seen.but then I dont get out much.
Good call! I was wondering where i knew her from.
Mediocre at best 🙄
She's a 10.5 out of 10
@@aaronjohnson3463 Afraid I'll have to respectfully agree to disagree with your assessment of the late Ms. Mimieux. But, everyone to his own tastes, of course. Thanks for your comments ! ☮️
18, still girlish!
Creepy music still scares me.
she's beautiful
Yes that queen ant is very beautiful.. 👑👑🐜🐜🐜🐜🐜🐜🐜🐜🐜🐜🐜🐜🐜🐜👸👸
Killian no that’s Yvette Mimieux, nicer looking than Tuesday
She sure is!
18, still girlish!
Preview of John Wayne Gacy? Serial killer of 33 young boys. Yvette Mimieux starred in everything from the Time Machine 1961. To Skyjacked 1972. Jackson County Jail 1976, Star Trek TOS twice. Dr. Pulaski TNG. What a great character actress!
You are confusing Yvette Mimieux with Diana Muldaur. It was Muldaur who was in two Star Trek TOS (once as a blind woman with a high tech “dress” that allowed her to “see” and once as a scientist who let her body be used to house someone else’s mind) and it was Muldaur who played Pulaski in TNG.
Born in 1960 Boston, I remember a dive bar I'd go to actually had a neon sign that said ladies welcome, times have certainly changed.
Definitely the most disturbing episode I have seen!
About as disturbing as a lollipop melting in the sun. 🍭🍭🍭🍭☀️☀️☀️☀️☀️🍭🍭🍭🌞🌞🌞🌞🍭🍭🍭🍭☀️☀️☀️☀️🌙🌙
Such quality short film experience. I should be turning in but it's Fri night so one more episode. Goodnight.
Those parade floats were creepy as hell back then .
😂
Really? I've never found parade floats to be "creepy". The fact that the parade footage is old and a little blurred adds a sinister tone to the story, which was no doubt intended.
Everything is creepy oh my Godzess Reeeeeeeeeeee
This was both relentlessly engrossing and a work of art! Thank you for posting this.
My, the days of smoking in a public restaurant!
I visited a Bob's Big Boy restaurant in the 1980s, and I was
asked - did I want to be seated in the smoking, or non - smoking area?
That's one I either never saw or was too young to remember seeing. I loved this show when I was a kid.
18:29 creepy!! 20:08 REALLY creepy!
Great episode!
AMAZING SERIES, EVEN BETTER ACTING AND PLOTS
I haven't watched "T.V." for years. All I really ever watch are the "Classic Movies" on CZcams. From time to time they'll show Classic commercials as well, which I get a kick out of seeing them too.
Yvette was incredibly Gorgeous, charming with a endearing innocence .
18
Yea,that guy was a jerk, but in real life he was nice, Christopher Dark who died of the young age of 50.
Great in this role
"the young age of 50." 😂😂😂 early age!
This is one of the creepier episodes of this genre of tv shows from the past
I LOVE Yvette Mimieux she was really GORGEOUS and only 18 here.
Too young, not fully blossomed.
I remember Yvette playing in the Time machine with Rod Taylor.she played Eloi called:weena
20:52 i like how he stuck up for the clown. he knows he wouldnt do that
I really enjoyed this show! Thanks for sharing!
Trivia alert: Christopher Dark played in the film WORLD WITHOUT END as an astronaut who crashes the time barrier. Yvette Mimieux starred in the time travel film THE TIME MACHINE. These were the first two films made in Hollywood about time travel. (Even more obscurely, Mimieux tried out for another time travel film at around the same time, BEYOND THE TIME BARRIER, though she wasn't hired/her agent wanted too much money).
@@eddysgaming9868 Just trying to add whatever little bit I have to add. Thanks. ;-)
The blonde is so good looking!!
She reminds me of Cynthia Geary, who played Shelly on Northern Exposure.
Giddy little creature, though. Childlike
At 18?
Thank you !!!💕💕💕💕
I was hoping this was a show called "One Step Beyond The Clown"
Doesn't anyone ever KNOCK in these old shows???
It was the '60s....what can I say ? 😄😁😊😝😉
I've always loved clowns. As I grew-up
they started getting evil. Now, I'm afraid I don't love them any longer.
But just like serial-murderers...
nothing like any enigma to fascinate the hell out of you.
Anyone remember the kid in bed in the movie, 'Poltergeist' ? Under the bed ?
🎶..."a smile is just a frown turned upside down..." 🎶
John Wayne Gacy ruined clowns for everyone!
I know this is make-believe, but not when it touches on reality like a big ass giant BITE! I don't like this guy's attitude toward his wife. It's like his insecurities are spilling over onto his wife. It's not her fault he doesn't like himself or how he looks or feels about himself. I apologize. This storyline is so close to the REAL TRUTH! YOU KNOW IT TOO!
and another thing is, he hasn't got the sense to realize that if he pushes that crap around another man, he's gping to end up on the wrong end of a knife or a gun. other men generally don't like to see guys treat their women like that, and more than once, if they haven't been taught to turn to the cops, I've seen asses like that who do this publicly end up thrashed by men they don't dare confront on their own.
These stories are supposed to be based on real events.
No clowning around!!!! LOL
So funny that I forgot to laugh
I'm hooked
Love em
Thanks
Apparently the way the husband acted was acceptable back then. Fancy him blaming his stupid, rude, mean behaviour on the woman. If someone talked to a woman like these days, he’d be locked up! What a loser!
Right. It was a very different society back then, sorry to say. But at least this is an example of how much progress we've made over the last sixty years, or so. Great episode, in any case ! 👍🏽
That behavior was never acceptable. He’s utterly ungentlemanly, unable to control emotions, and lets his insecurities show through.
The episode 12 Hours to Live shows presents a more typical man back then. He held his peace until they were alone and neither disrespected her in public nor threatened her physically or manipulated her emotionally, even when they were fighting.
There were no bad guys in that episode, just 2 people who grew a little. The way the husband acts here from the beginning to the end is as a bad guy and nobody would’ve ever seen him as normal or typical back then.
@@michaellaplant8659 Not as many divorces as now, not as many rapes as now, not as many domestic violence as now, not as many women murdered as now, some progress.🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
I love the wonderful cars of the era! Hate clowns, scary. Thanks Pizzaflix. I just recently found you and subscribed :)
A childlike girl with syrupy charm and knock-em-dead looks, marries a raging bull of a man drenched in jealousy besides, yep, excellent match up.
It could've been an arranged marriage.
Maybe it was an arranged marriage.
" knock-em-dead looks" at 18? For perverts!
2 minutes into this and I want to scream to the beautiful wife RUN from that horrible, controlling man.
What is that girl doing with that total loser anyway.
That music super-creeped me out as a kid. Maybe that's why I watched Twilight... and Outer Limits.
“If you behave” what a piece of shit
A teen wife treated like a child.
The thumbnail is a nightmare, can't wait to listen at bedtime lol
This girl in here is the prettiest girl they used in the whole series
@@eddysgaming9868 Right? It's incredible. As much as I hate this episode (I'm not big on clowns) I gotta say she's so pretty. She's the prettiest blond, the prettiest brunette is from "Epilogue". I don't like that episode much either, (too much overacting) but WOW! I want to look like them lol
too young, 18.
Poor pipo the clown. 🙁
The clown reminded me of being on the Bozo show in Boston in the 60s. Got to play a game and won a Bozo bubble gum machine. But costumes can mean horror to someone especially being very young. Way back my mother brought me to a Easter Bunny. One at a time this Easter bunny would have kids sit on its lap and then get a picture taken. I got to my turn. But the costume back then we're not real good. I looked at the bunny face sitting there. And the eyes in the head were screen. I saw the person's real eyes behind the suit and yelled. The Easter bunny ate someone I can see them inside. Unfortunately the picture was not taken and my mother took me back home. 😊
As a youth, I sadly woke up to this playing on the weekend afternoon maitanee local TV programs in Chicago... Always creeped the **** out of me. .... The First vintage Pennywise...🧐
First off, the female character should've been sent for some psychiatric treatment. She's not an " innocent girl". She's either a narcissist with sexual hangup ( she knew what she was doing when she was around other men). Or, she's a serious case of arrested development. The husband is an insecure, abusive piece of crap. He should've been thrown in jail for taking advantage of a mentally disabled person. The clown was just plain creepy and should've been taken for a mental health assessment. This show was interesting to watch just to see what was considered as acceptable social norms and the blatant, willful ignorance of mental health issues. All that overshadowed the supernatural aspect. Entertaining, nonetheless. Thank you!
Thank you.
I saw it when I was 6 years old, the scarier of all of the One Step Beyond series
I love youtube. Number one station i listen to and watch

Wonderful musical score!
Absolutely ! One of Harry Lubin's best scores, as far as I'm concerned. Of course, he was probably better known for his eerie theremin orchestrations for both "One Step Beyond" & the second season of "The Outer Limits". ❣️👍
Love this one! I put some of the clown in my Angelina Jolie visits Amy's Baking Co. vid around 29 : 05
Poor Pippo being nice and funny just got him in trouble, I love clowns and for some unknown reason I've never being afraid of them no matter how frightening they might may them look on the other side she is terrified of them it all started when she watched the movie Poltergeist
Why do people in old movies always die instantly from one injury? I hope Hippo wasn't charged with anything.
There have been lots of clown scares in Australia 😃🇦🇺
Marilyn Tape That was happening here in the states a few years ago, until people started pulling their guns on these morons... needless to say, it stopped
The combination of the clown make up and performer playing the part, Mickey Shaunessay, resulted in a truly, iconically-disturbing clown. Ill advised, I think, as this clown was supposed to convey anything but creepiness, story-wise.
*Bravo!*
✌
Yo Danky!
Jeez! Calm down there, Othello!
I dated someone once who looked just like that clown. She was from Cardiff, Wales.
Great episode 👍👍👍👍
That clown made me laugh too 😂
On par with Rod Serling and Hitchcock. I remember seeing this series, but not this episode. When I was a kid, clowns were nice-like Pippo. Why does everything have to be evil today?
It's not clown which makes us fearful, it's unknown identity if man behind the makeup. Men can be evil even with a smiley face.
That hubs is a real jerk.
What a tragic story.
I love this episode so much
