"The Image of Death" would've been a really good one to use it in, while they looked at the skull stain on the wall. Or "the Vision" while they looked at the light in the sky. "The Return" while the soldier was trying to find his way through the woods and the guys back at the base were talking about him. I sort of feel like it was wasted here

It turns out one of my father's classmates was half-reading, half-meditating, on a theology text instead of listening to the prof., on the nature of the cosmos. This is a true occurrence. The power of concentrated thought/meditation is underestimated and not well understood.
Psychic phenomena are quite common in times of urgency, this is why it never manifests when they give those silly tests with the symbols on cards. And I suppose a well-practiced meditative state can also be effective for transmitting thoughts. Very often animals we are close to sense our thoughts and emotions when they are compelling as well.
