Love your comment ❤
A really great quote! Thank you for sharing. I miss my Mom and Dad. Both sets of Grandparents too. I was so touched by this episode. Our lives are very much moment to moment and then we get to go home and be together again.
Bossy older sister isn't very loving.
Those 2 kids should have won the Oscar for that year.
What the Hell is wrong with being a brakesman? You've gotta have brakes! How's that shameful?
That's the saddest part of the whole thing....here they've got this lovely old dreamer of a grandpa with the heart of a poet and just have to destroy his dream. Being poor is made much worse if you stop dreaming and seeing all the lovely natural things all around.
🙂
You know nothing, this is the way it really, really was. Peace be with you❤️❤️❤️
@@ricoramjet6523 Yes, that's the way it was, but it doesn't change anything OP said.
@@TheCalico72 OP??
With you on that. Sad to see the little girl will grow has mean and hateful, just like her mother. The old man gave them shelter and comfort and this how these two cows repaid him.. trying to stomp the life out of him.
This is undoubtedly my favourite episode. Miss my grand dad. Best shows ever! No one makes anything like these anymore.
Amen.❤
Fwiw, my sisters and I will sometimes smell our Grandfather's pipe tobacco ... thousands of miles apart. And he's been gone for decades.
❤
“It’s alright, it’s all right my dear.” Hurtful, it was not alright. Forgiveness, the most beautiful act, of kindness.
Georgeous Grand Dad.
Love the relationship between him and his little Grandson..
A beautifully written and acted episode. One of the best.
Yes I too liked the acting of each character.
So true and what a beautiful ending. So different from most episodes. I had tears in my eyes for those sad children.
I thought the young girl in this episode looked familiar. I have seen her in I love Lucy.
@@andrewsharpe1060 No, Candy Moore was in the Lucy Show
You took the words out of my mouth! So sweet and touching!♥️
My dad was an engineer for C&O/CSX, he used to blow the whistle coming through Cliftondale Park where we lived, so Mom would know to come pick him up at the Yard Office. We used to hear bobwhites and whippoorwills every evening. Our little town had one of the biggest locomotive roundtables in the world when it was a bustling RR town. My favorite picture is one of him and me in the engine on C&O Family Day. I got to ride in the engine from CF to Charlottesville on my way to NYC while going to graduate school because my dad’s cousin had that “run”. (You “run” a train, instead of “driving”.)
I found myself telling the girl, "How could you treat your little brother like that?" That was before Grandpa shared his gentle wisdom. I know one thing - giving and receiving love can make a hard life bearable.
Best story ever!! I’m still crying! I miss you gramps!!
no greater force in all of existence than love
If only we had more of it.
... nor more mythological
'....for the young do not question the miraculous...' man I love these shows
There was a lot of bickering back and forth, but the love this family had for each other is plainly evident. Fantastic writing and acting all around.
Wow, what a moving story, and some real fine charismatic acting! It really moved me.
That little girl shure called the boy stupid a lot. But Grandpa was one KOOL dude👍 ❤
@Captain Gregg Thanks♥
Lol! Yes! He thought his first name was “Stupid” and his last name was “Boy”! It kind of got a bit irritating! Lol!😂
Shure?? Talk 'bout stupid🙄.
I gotta say, when the train went by at the end, I lost my shit. Cried like a baby.
SPOILER! 😠
I really loved this beautiful episode. It brought tears to my eyes. Even after many years of illness and pain, I see and hear beauty all around me. The miraculous finds us when we believe in miracles!❤
I also cried at the end
This was absolutely the best episode....ever! This one touched the mind.....AND the heart. It's my birthday today.....thank you so much for this wonderful present!
Happy Birthday!🎊 🎉
I've always wished that I had been born during those times..I wouldn't have been able to make the mistakes I did. Fewer temptations back then. If only I had a time machine..don't we all at times?🙏😢
"One Step Beyond" did something on a regular basis that "Twilight Zone" rarely did. Bring a tear to my eyes.
Yes , I can quite agree but episodes of "The Twilight Zone" like The night of the Meek , The long Morrow and The Passersby are hard not too feel great sorrow with heartfelt tears 🌟
Amen to that……truly
here I feel at home , the best place to be . Thank for sharing ...A great thanks to the narrator , he is simply outstanding ....
3:07 When I was a kid, we never had corn flakes for breakfast. My Mom would make us oatmeal mush, with plenty of sugar and fresh milk!
Loved it!!!
Then came raisin Bran😊
"The young do not question that which is miraculous".
A secret just between them.
And now the world.
Sweet story.
Grandpa with all his love and wisdom🥰
Words cannot express how much I loved my grandpa. My father was cold and distant, but my mother's father was warm and always had a smile and jokes for us grandkids. Miss him so much. I always treasured the days we would sit on the porch and listen to bluegrass music on his little transistor radio. Good times!💕
A very touching bit of Americana, a 28 minute masterpiece of human emotion and hope, artfully created.
Yeah, welcome to hicked out, Kansas😏!!
Nowadays, if your grandpa had a stroke, he will be rushed off to the hospital in an ambulance with sirens blaring.
They'd put him into the ICU and hook him up to a ventilator. There'd be tubes and lines stuck all over him and he'll never get a moment's rest or get a chance to say goodbye to his loved ones.
But back in those days, they just let them die in peace at home , among their families.
Didn't have much choice in the matter.
This one stuck with me since I watched it as a kid. Rough & tough & hard as nails... Love this one!
What a sweet episode , and a beautiful ending .
Straight up made me cry man.
You-tube was once a video hosting website before it went commercial. Not nice You-tube. Now for my comment concerning the video, I love this episode of One Step Beyond!!! Amen, Jesus Bless You!!! Kelly
Poor girl, trying to take the place of the father. As hard as life was for them, the boy just made it harder. She's right, about teaching her brother to not be such a brat, mother should appreciate her more.
nobody Uknow ....actually, the mother should grow up and realize she is the mother of two and not one. That was her choice to bring both of her children into the world. Life is harder these days, as it always was, for a boy to become a truly good man. I should know, as I have been married to one for thirty years, and we have known each other since 1983. Married in 89. I am 52, H is 56. Truly, Danielle.🕊🦅
nobody Uknow ....life was hard on all three.
@@dannynicastro3207 Well... back then, not so much her choice if she didn't wanna break the law or risk death. Otherwise, you're absolutely spot on :) Also - corn flakes and raisins?! I think that young man was the inventor of Raisin Bran!
The mother was useless. Both children, direction-less.
@@minorshan Raisin bran, from corn flakes?? You do know, raisin bran was invented, a hundred years ago, right???
Lol,doesn't the poor kid have a name beyond,"boy" ? Love this episode, makes me cry every time. There's your beauty Callie, even when you're dirt poor & feel you have nothing else...LOVE !
LOL I have 2 Daughters & My hubs has 2 Daughters then we had a boy. He was called "The Boy" from day 1.
@Rayyvn Yes. They called him PAUL several times. UGH 😩
I believe his name was Paul
Lovely episode 😍. Grandpa was sweet.
Now I can't see the screen for tears . Grandpa .
Name "boy" is reminding me of Bird box. Lol.
Good episode. Reminds me of the spooky stories my mom would tell me that she heard when she was a child visiting her Grandparents in the rual part of Goergia, sitting on her Grandparents big porch with her cousins and at night everbody so afraid to sleep alone so they all sleep in one big room together☺
- God loves all! ✌
Callie needed her brother and he needed her. What a lovely family all the way round. Brought tears to my eyes.
Love these old shows.
Check out : "The Man With The Power" (Outer Limits)
oooooo... that story still makes me cry too much....
Don't wish bad things on people...
cause it might come true... and you can't reverse your wish...
Especially British TV
@@msthang5366 I wouldn't put it that way but this episode of "One Step Beyond" was sure very special
OK that one made me cry. I love these shows.
Quality. Talent. Beauty. These wonderful shows from my childhood had it all.
"You can't have raisins with corn flakes!" Must have been before Raisin Bran. 😏
The best episode ever of "One Step Beyond".😍
One of the best episodes but I feel where you're coming from @barbaramollmann5990 👍
Thank you. I remember these from when I was a kid. Greg Chaney
Shame on CZcams for the loud commercials right when you're into the movie.
That girl is Candy Moore. She played on Leave it to Beaver as Wally's love interest in the kitchen.
ONE STEP BEYOND - The best thing about this show is that it transfers you to so many different places inside the scenario. It is a fantastic mystery show.
This One reads like a play. ...super enjoyed!
This is well done acting. The mother is actually a british actress.
I do have the soundtrack album from this show on vinyl and cd. Thank you composer Harry Lubin for genius orchestration on this series. Especially the song called ''WEIRD'' (from 976-CREOLEMAN).
The song Fear is really creepy
Just started watching, that young girl’s attitude and personality is enough to make anybody quite watching, whoa.
At last the children got to say good bye to their grandfather. That brought tears to my eyes. If we can only say we love our grandparents one more time before they fly away into heaven.....or good bye would be so sweet.
Awesome stuff! Thank you so much for putting these two up :)
Loved this. Thank you.
i'm not used to all this niceness, thanks!
i don't have cable for a couple reasons. 1, can't afford it. 2, cable has a bunch of the WORST CRAP EVER!!!!
What a beautiful episode!!!
A very good and sad story
Very special episode 'Goodbye grandpa'!
That was sweet 😊
My Favorite episodes are: BRIDE POSSESSED, TIDAL WAVE, MAKE ME NOT A WITCH, and THE LOVERS. Thanks for making these videos available.
very good episode. enjoyed very much. especially the ending.
Thank you...
That was the tonic of my evening 👍💛👍
It didn’t make me want to shed a tear I had something in my eye
Right? Candy Moore was really pretty good for a kid
Infinite Love and Gratitude ♡
A wonderful pearl of cinematic art 🌈 Thank you !!!
What a touching episode. Love these rediscovered OSB episodes. Thx!
Excellent acting, especially the girl.
Yeah Candy Moore was great. Check her out in the first couple seasons of the Lucy Show
Oh oh... It blew 2 long and 3 short when they first heard it, . But when the train got closer, it blew 2 long 1 short and 1 long.... Check it out.
Terrific acting. The young people were awesome.😢
later this young girl would play Lucy's daughter on the Lucy Show
I thought she looked familiar. Thank you for pointing this out .
Grandpa was on THE TWILIGHT ZONE.
@@MsBackstager He was.
He played the elderly professor in "Long Live Walter Jameson" opposite Kevin McCarthy.
@@MsBackstager So was the boy.
@@MsBackstager yea long live Walter Jameson 👌
Death has always been perplexing to me, their here one minute, then gone, it's hard to let go, great story
Loved the Grandpa and his devoted Grandson 💕
Why do little girls have to be so mean? It's no wonder men don't want them, we remember those times, we do.
I LOVE JOHN NEWLAND
You do make that clear. Understand. He had a great charm, and truly seemed dedicated and sincere about what he was doing with this show. He left an indelible impression, and left us we a great and memorable show. In years since, the "paranormal" is being given a lot more credence by physicists and the more open-minded scientists and theorists (see Rupert Sheldrake, Michael Talbot's book THE HOLOGRAPHIC UNIVERSE, to begin with in this area). We are working on an extensive article looking into the career of John Newland, including his later work as a director of tv films, such as the classic DON'T BE AFRAID OF THE DARK. He is unfairly overlooked as a creative force on tv/and as an on-screen presence of notable impact. (He was also a great voice on radio, as witness several CBS RADIO MYSTERY THEATER episodes he "appeared" on.)
@STAR MAN Well since he's been dead for 20 years that would be a neat trick !!
Today i turn 53 and im super happy to be here watching such a wonderful show!!!
Heart-warming. :)
Well written and good acting as always with all this episodes.
What an astonishing episode, thanks for posting it!
Donald Losby who played the little boy was one of the venusians on the "Twilight Zone" episode Dingle the Strong , he had more than 45 television & film credits under his belt , he is still with us at 71 years young 🌟👍
No wonder he had a stroke, with these two women putting him down all the time.
Feminist episode
@@attaofthelight lol
Love the cat.❤
Poor boy.
The young girl was excellent and was in another OSB episode Forked Lightening.
Great old t.v. shows
A wonderful ending.
Realistic for the time, I can attest to that.
Miss my Grandpa. He died in 1971. 😢
That women is Anna Karen. She played on Star Trek in All Our Yesterdays. She's the one that screamed and Kirk ran thru the time portal to save her. Kirk saved her but she turned on him and later called Kirk a witch, blaming Kirk for her stealing that purse and later saying 'they'll burn ya' to kirk.
@Stoneyburke Yes, I'm referring to the woman or the mother and that's Anna Karen. The girl is Candy Moore as you mentioned.
You're spot on , you actually put a big Colgate smile on my face ... thank you for your great informative comment 👍😊
So sad such TV no longer made, just trash shit now...
Brought tears to my eyes like nothing you watch these days..
This movie broke my heart today
I MISS YOU GRANDPA😭😭😭
I loved this one ❤
The actor who played grandpa looks familiar. I think he was also in one of the twilight zone episode.
You are correct. Edgar Stehli played Professor Sam Kittridge as a foil to Kevin McCarthy's Professor Walter Jameson in another typically dark and invariably well written Charles Beaumont episode of The Twilight Zone titled "Long Live Walter Jameson" (1960).
@@robertjrasmussen7511 you rock ! Thank you for your awesome informative comment 👍😀
22:00 ...OK...go ahead...everyone who had a tear in their eye...it's OK...raise your hand...I'll start...
I am so happy I was born in the time of this series...
She should try Rasin Bran
Cool cat ,train and sensational gpa
That's the same girl that Wally Cleaver helped clean house with. They had a crush on each other.
The first episode of Amazing Stories was almost identical to this. Except it got the Spielberg treatment.
I was thinking of that episode too.
This is also my favorite episode,so sweet.I grew up in a area much like seen in this episode. The grand father tells the young girl (look around beauty is everywhere)He was so right..Such great advise.
The mother was played by Anna Karen who also played the woman who Kirk rescued from two sword wielding officials in Star Trek's "All Our Yesterdays". She was married to actor Jeff Morrow.
My granddaddy was my hero. A hard working man and a no nonsense way of life. He always “made time” for me and my most precious childhood memories are of him and my grandmother who was a treasure in her own right. Both are gone now, stepped over into the Lords mighty hand. Now, after retiring from work, I find myself in another precious relationship with my own grandson. He turns 5 later this month. He still reaches up when we are walking to hold poppy’s hand while he talks away. It’s those times when I know he still needs me,but he will never know ……..it’s really me that needs him.
Thank you.
