- Mind-bending series hosted by John Newland, your guide to the unknown! Based on true, supernatural events that defy scientific explanation, this show appeals to fans of The Twilight Zone and The Outer Limits.
ECHO: After a man is found innocent of his wife's murder, her brother precipitates the real culprit's capture.
Ross Martin was so talented. He left us too soon. He made a great "Columbo" villain, too.
Yes. "Suitable For Framing". Great Columbo episode!
Yes!so sad he died too soon!💔
He was in The Twilight Zone too I think.
@@mizzaquarius5505 yes. Two episodes!🌛
Not bad as Artemus Gordon as well..
Good to see Ross Martin. A very underrated actor,
One of the greatest character actors ever.
Very underrated!!
IKR?! I saw his face on the thumbnail and clicked immediately! :-)
YOU'RE underrated!
Can't resist anything with Ross Martin.
Me too.
“Has it ever struck you that life is all memory, except for the one
present moment that goes by you so quick you hardly catch it going?”― Tennessee Williams.
I appreciate well-placed quotes. This was perfect.
I remember when gas was a quarter a gallon and cigarettes were a quarter a pack sometimes we only had a quarter
This is a good one. I remember when motels were $6 a night. That's when "Motel 6" came out, because it was $6 a night. I stayed in a hotel in Toronto once that was $480 a night. That was when I was working for a consulting company. They paid it, I didn't. And $1.50 for three shots of bourbon in those days. Everything was so cheap and people were making good money. Now, everything is expensive and people have to fight to make ends meet. This actor went on to star in a TV series that was "something and the West." I think his characters name was "Artemois Gordon." He was good in that with his sidekick.
That's no motel 6. It's practically a furnished studio apartment.
WILD WILD WEST.
@@JohnSmith-el6lk That's it. I couldn't remember the name but I knew it had West in it. Now if I could just remember the name of the lead actor.
@@johnallen2771 Robert Conrad who unfortunately passed on February 8th of this year, 2020.
"The Wild, Wild West". Used to watch it with my Mom, every Friday night. Good memories.
Never saw or knew of this show when on tv. It is well written, directed, produced with quality acting. Little like it on tv today.
Ross Martin is one of the greatest character actors in TV history.
He had no equals!!
11:25 Wow. A guy orders a drink on TV and the bartender actually asks him what label he wants. That's a surprising touch of realism.
They had a 3 second space to fill before commercial. 😆
What an incredible age in history, people dressed with dignity and love for each other, helping others, bring them back
Yes, times of bigotry and sexual inequality. But folks dressed nicely.
No one is stopping anyone from dressing well and helping each other now. There was nothing special about 1959.
@@hewitc Sure there was!
@@jonnyq680
I here ya! Safer, simpler times.😊
And smoked like fiends....then all died early because of it.
Thanks again for making these classics available to us, they aired before I was born & I'm crazy for black & white suspense-mystery-horror-intrigue shows! I don't even turn on the TV anymore, forget this "reality TV" garbage! CZcams has the quality stuff! 👍 And the sound & film quality are spectacular!!!
You mean to tell me you don't like Buffy the Vampire Slayer? Or Moesha?
But still, I threw my TV away long time back....you still have yours (just in case....)
dropped TV years ago, no digital, no cable
Don't say that too much; YT might start charging us😅
All of the stories were supposedly true that’s why I like watching them
YES 👍🏾T D🙂ES!!!!
Aw too bad about the brother. He seemed so nice. The conscience wins once again.
Thank you. Someone finally talked about the characters sad story. Who gives a hoot about the actors, the point here is to tell a true story. Sad as it may be.
Oh, the good old days when you could smoke without guilt. I used to escape into these old tv shows, movies...not to mention books, of the same genre when I was a kid. Thanks for the memories..💜
Please stop smoking. It is very bad for your lungs.
Mind your own business.
@@Hartley_Hare I SMOKED FREE CIGARETTES THAT i FOUND IN THE BUS and it felt good smoking
You know you anti smoking nit wits make me think I got hemorrhoids
Your such a pain in the ass , they out law tobacco, and then
legalized marijuana.
The only reason marijuana is legal is so they can tax it, the only reason they are down on tobacco is because , they can soak the tobacco companies for a few billion, then raise the hidden tax through the roof.
In the service I paid $0.11 a pack for cigarettes a dollar for a carton
As a civilian at the same time a pack of cigarettes was $0.45 the reason you got it the service for $0.11 is there was no tax so figure out how much tax $0.45 $0.11 now it's $5 a pack if not $10 a pack $50 a carton.
I would tell you to go save a whale or whatever you're doing today like saving the Earth from climate change.
@@Hartley_Hare
We know all about that kind of thing. Did you know for awhile the thing was to get yourself sterilized
Couple of sweet young things jumped my case telling me I was being socially irresponsible for not getting a vasectomy .
Now your trying to tell me smoking could cause impotency I'm not sure I'm too worried about that .
What I am worry about is Haveing to fight a bloody civil war with th e deep state to make them keep their
Policies to their self. Did you know they made psilocybin mushrooms legal now that they have pot but they are going to tell you smoking is bad.
Ross fired more bullets in this episode that he ever did as Artie in "The Wild Wild West"....Ross Martin also did more acting and great acting in 25 minutes that he did with James West in that whole series !...And now, a message from our sponser....;P
I'm 65 don't ever remember seeing these thanks so much
Ross Martin was my favorite actor when I was a child when I watched the Wild Wild West I wanted to be him although of course Robert Conrad was cool I just believed in Ross's acting...he made everything he did truly believable. I never seen this before and I had chills up my spine throughout several of the scenes he really owned this! He was awesome in the outer limits episode where he played some kind of a landlord that turned out to be something else I don't want to spoil it for anyone who didn't see it but check it out it's really awesome and creepy. No matter what role he plays you can count on a superb performance. A real shame he wasn't on the big screen more I really don't understand that at all. He is truly missed.
>>He was awesome in the outer limits episode where he played some kind of a landlord that turned out to be something else
@@alexmuenster2102 I will have to do some research and find out what that was he was in maybe it was one of those type of shows I thought it was Outer Limits I'll have to research it and I'll get back to you to let you know which show it was on
@@alexmuenster2102 Don't forget "Death Ship" (spaceship from Earth caught in a time loop)
@@alexmuenster2102 If TOL had found something for him, he would have made it memorable.
Thank you for sharing this series. I enjoyed them growing up.
Ross Martin (along with Harry Townes, who was also in a few OSB's) can do no wrong acting-wise. Always watchable and gone way too soon.
Bravo re: Townes. Underrated talent.
Townes is one of my favorites.
This is one of the best, most interesting Steps Beyond. Well acted, and in the end, sad too...
I first watched this series in the early 70s . Thanks for Utube and the person who posted these .
Artie The Wild, Wild West ! Dude is a great actor.
The GREAT Ross Martin!
I'm so glad I get to see his other amazing works aside from The Wild Wild West and his awesome work as Artemus Gordon!
The host is a handsome guy.
This actor played "Artemis Gordon" on a Friday night TV show. I used to watch in the late '60's. It was half-western half-James Bond. He was the co-star and he traveled by train; he lived in the caboose, fancy-dancy bachelor pad.
@lana lake Oh my! Too bad.
He was one of the best actors,to be sure.
He was also in a Classic episode of Outer Limits about the 3 Astronauts that find their lifeless bodies after they crashed!
Actually, it was a twilight zone episode in season 4 called "death ship"
4:19 (shortly thereafter) is a brilliant piece of editing: a white flash is inserted on the punches impact. I LOVE this - a tiny part of what made this an incredible episode.
The background music is still creepy. I know it scared the s-- t outta me when I was a kid
Ross was also great on Night Gallery! He was in disquise in episode'Camera Obscura'.
11:02 the music that comes in and goes to 12:32 is definitely one of Harry Lubin's very very best pieces
a simple plot that could only go a couple ways - this took the most direct one - but it was well acted by all - and well directed by Newland
ah the news media sucked even back then....
Thank you PIZZA, you never disappoint.
9:26 There's that old familiar song, to let us know we're at the spooky part! They used it in ever episode.
OSB club this seems as it will be a great show! Let's return
a young Ross Martin - one of my favorite actor people. . . remember "Wild, Wild West"? they were both terrific! love to see that show again.. . .🛤🚂
the guy playing the lawyer is also really good. wonder who he is?
I believe he is "Bulldog" from Frasier.
Hi Pizza Fix, I had no idea you put out these video's of one step beyond my late brother used to tell me about it I was so surprized to stumble on them, I have been watching them all day have to say I am really enjoying them, what other goodies might you have?

Me too Isabel, i love old movies or documentaries I see most of these videos i really enjoy them. I think Hollywood old movies much more better than Our Generation movies I love it I wish I was born that time and I grew up that time everything was to me so beautiful I so nice I am not really enjoying these days am I generation movies yeah all the best
@@PizzaFLIX I watch a lot of your videos on Utube . Thanks for the memories. ●
Funny, i am watching this right during a thunderstorm with hail. Our wifi went out
Wow fascinating. Yes. Our minds will play tricks on us. I myself feel things before they happen. I'm able to predict things before they are said. But unfortunately my abilities help everyone except me. I couldn't buy a winning lottery ticket even if my life depended on it. I've really enjoyed these programs. Never knew about them until they popped up on my CZcams one day. Thank you for sharing them.
I love when John Newland introduces some episodes with "Have you ever had the feeling that the phone was going to ring, before it did?" because I DO! All the time! Another thing I do all the time is go to the roadside of our front yard, or go to the front windows, right before someone comes home (most often my dad or my brother.) I amaze my mother every time!
Oh thanks for the highlight. I am honored.

Interesting trivia-He was the most Educated actor in the World!
Ross Martin, the guy who played killer in Columbo.

4:19. Haaa!... The old timer in the hallway sure could take a punch 👊
One Man 1970 -- yes he can 👊L☺L October 30,2020
He was probably 50. People just seemed older back then.
In 1959 I was 10 , still remembering these for the most part. I like the ones I didn't ever see also.
I was 9 in 1959
God......This show is still 🔥
Thanks, PizzaFlix! Loved watching OSB, The Twilight Zone and The Outer Limits as a young child, later as a teen and again as an adult. Epoch-making stories which expanded the boundaries of pop culture, showcasing the work of great writers...
...whose tales were later adapted into films, video games, et al. The first episode of TOL I saw happened to be season one epi one and woah it freaked me out a bit at the tender age of five even as it fascinated me. I found One Step Beyond like a soothing bubble bath next to The Outer Limits and The Twilight Zone, both of which had several episodes that warped my fragile young mind. But they were also highly educational, introducing younger viewers to important concepts in a wide variety of areas from science to social psychology to politics (especially given that these shows were produced during the Cold War), philosophy, epic archetypes of all types from Venusians to the Devil (whatever you do, do NOT open that door!) to the evil "other" and much much more. But most of all, wow, they were intensely entertaining.
What the hell episode of Outer Limits "warped your Young mind"? There was hardly any action, just a lot of talk, low grade romance time filler.
Poor Artemus Gordon (Wild Wild West). Instead of riches and fun, he got nothing and went to that nice little gas chamber. What a way to go ! I love this show since I first saw it in 1959 at age 11, Saw the first episode in Havana, The Bride Possessed.
ROSS MARTIN, HE WAS SO GOOD ON THE WILD, WILD, WEST, HE WAS AWESOME,GREAT ACTOR❤❤❤
very similar to alfred hitchcock presents insomnia with dennis weaver
Are you sure that wasn't "Shadow Play", a TZ episode? Where he has the same nightmare every night of being convicted of murder and getting sentenced and executed by electrocution. The nightmare starts over when they flip the switch. but all the players in his nightmare change roles.
$6/night = $180/month. No wonder theres so many homeless people nowadays.
If you can find it, watch the show Mr Lucky which was on in the '50s. He was one of the stars in it. Does a fantastic accent. He spoke five languages and some Russian. Robert Conrad said about wild wild West that he taught Ross how to do stunts but Ross taught him how to act.
Honeymooners fans might recognize Leslie Barrett. He's the guy who played Harvey's friend George in one of the most famous of the Honeymooners episodes. If you have to ask "Who's Harvey?", then I guess you're not a Honeymooners fan.
"I gotta friend Shirley, that's bigger than you!"
Definitely a good episode with a Twist in the end. But they always have a Twist in the end.
Ross Martin played on the Wild Wild West years ago.
Very intersting and beyond any explenation events that sometimes joltted us and thrilled us ! Unexplaned events or stories gave us unexplained enjoyment in our ordinary life (One step beyond series is that kind of show of our young age) !
good episode with the usual surprise ending
suspenseful and dramatic good acting.
Love One Step Beyond. Thank you so much for posting and for such high-quality audio/visual. Btw, for the longest time, I thought the name of your channel was "Pizza Fix"! Could it be because I love pizza so much lol?
The reporter is this story is typical of the reporters today. Dare I say it? TRASH
2024 here. Presidential election season in full swing, now we got A.I. to deal with.
Back when TV was actually worth watching.
Some how I knew from the beginning of the plot would take a twist, (Artemus Gordon) was the killer... of which only in the television series (65-69) he played on the good side of the law.
Martin Milner was one of the most underrated actors period.
Ross Martin
Hahah, I was wondering if anyone would catch that. Congratulations!
Ross was a licensed Attorney
A lot of great future tv stars appear on this show
Yes. Great casts!!
Including Candy Moore, she wasn't a star but a model for the rock group the Cars among a bunch of others
To many to mention but I'll mention Charles Bronson
Awesome. Great television !!!!
Actually, ALL of the Columbo villains were great.
Artemus Gordon The wild wild west great show from my youth good to see him in something unusual I also remember him as Charlie Chan and various westerns
Ross Martin was born in Poland
$6/night.
$3.5 for 3 bourbon shots.
Bartenders hear so many strange things.
50- cent each shot all together $1.5 dollars!!
Damn, that’s scary.
Motel 6 was $6, Super 8 Motel was $8 too.
I love you PizzaFlix!! :-)
Artie!!
Wow $186 a month, that was very expensive for back then. Back in the mid 80’s my first basement apt only cost $50 a week. In NYC too
My first (and last) basement apt cost $750 in the '80s on 21st & Lexington. Thanks for watching PizzaFLIX. May the Sauce be with you.

IM ADDICTED TO THAT CREEPY MUSIC
The first step to sobriety is admitting that you've got a problem. May I suggest some Dr.Seuss?
Start hallucinating your own murder, a bad storm. Quick, run to a bar and knock back the bourbon until you're drunk. Yeah, that'll really help you think clearly! 🙄
@Gen...That's the best Noir!
It won't take the fate away, but it'll take the pain away
Wonderful for holidays.
So he escaped execution somehow, at least Columbo caught up with this guy when he was a dodgy art dealer.
@calihartley2010, thank you! dunderheads need advice
Just one more question....Finger prints...great Columbo episode....
Is that bald attorney the same actor who played the little guy in the Honeymooners from the pool hall? Harvey's little friend George?
Yes
No I think it's "Bulldog" from Frasier.
@@robertgalbreath6239 Looks like him but Bulldog Dan Butler was born in 1954, that would make him a child at this time
This was a good episode as most of these are rather bland compared to the Twilight Zone, esp. compared to the Outer limits.
Actually, this one good enough to be a TZ episode in my book.
Never watched TZ, but these are anything but bland. I love these, good quality storyline, amazing actors, and awesome presenter. What more do you need??
fiction vs non-fiction ... each has its place.
Non-fiction satisfies when I need some grounded reality, and these programs suggest there is more to life than what we see. This series does that very well for me.
Fiction is fantasy out of a writers creative mind and is different, providing sometimes a much needed escape.
Even though non-fiction has its appeal, occasionally, I tire of it.
Those experiences can be as Liberace's outfits ... fascinating to admire, then one can have had enough sparkle and glitter, and desire to get back to a sense of reality.
@@Garacha222apparently you know what fiction is. Good for you

Would have liked to see the photographer 'accidentally' tripped as he was getting into the elevator then fallen over 'accidentally' popping open the film casing. A team play would have been even better 'coverage".
